Discontinued Elevape SV

I got my elevape today in the mail. Looks sleek, finally got back from work and have had it charged into the wall for more than 6 hours. The light is still orange though. And my elevape won't connect to my PC. I even tried the cable for my phone. I read that the provided cable can be a problem.

Well as I'm typing the light is now green after about 30 minutes with the phone cable. I still can't connect to the "ipuff control" app the reason being : "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". The elevape shows in where it says device, but doesn't show charge time. I'm not sure I want to mess with temps yet, and I don't even know if it will register if I do. I also don't know where to register my device.

At least I think I'm in the clear to take a hit. Wasn't expecting any troubles with a new $300 vape though. This is the most expensive vape I've owned though.

Took about 3-4 draws, first on setting one, then two, the rest three. I didn't get any vapor though. I can feel the heat in the herb chamber though. I guess I'll put it back on the charger. The wobbly mouth piece is pretty annoying too.

Also if I shake/tap the vape instead of stirring, will it move the coil around?

Shaking will not move the coil, it should be in there tight. Also nothing to register.

Considering app, are you on a Mac? In any case don't need app to work, default temps seem to work for others, whatever they are...

Try taking out the mouthpiece screen, and trying different types of packs grinds strains to see if you can get some taste clouds effects.

Before Evo recently, this was also my most expensive vape, but it remains very well deserving of that title (I only paid $260 during a VaporNation sale a year and half ago though).

Just may take some patience at first, but learning should be fun, there are plenty of tips here if you read backwards. Good luck!

I'm on windows, and I moved the temp up a bit. (Was still unable to get visible vapor) I could try downloading it on my friends mac and connecting. I already lost the mouthpiece screen; I'm a bit weary of finer grinds because of the draw speed required.

But I got a good amount of hours to play around with my new SV today! Thanks for the reply shit snacks!

Oh i would expect Mac to be worse if anything

Yeah amount packed too, biggest clouds i can get at 305 come with finer grind, 3/4 full pack, not too moist herbs.

Either way expirmentation is key, hopefully you get there eventually, draw fluctuation is another variable to keep in mind and test.

So I opened the unit to move the coil. And I noticed one of the prongs holding the coil was loose so I went to tighten it from the bottom. I moved to the right with one turn and the coil jumped out. A little piece of metal came out too. I thought it was from the coil. And thought no big deal. I tried the unit again, much easier to draw and keep the red light. But still no vapor and much less hot air.

I took out the bolt holding the coil and I can see there's a metal bar in the prong. So I guess that's where it's from. And now one side of the actual coil isn't grounded.

Or maybe when I tightened the prong the legs of the coil just snapped. :/

They both are the same size, can't get them to stay in when I tighten the bolt.

Update to the good part: Just shortened my coil, so I could ground it. And angled the coil down towards the hex bolt. Next I set my temps to
uno: 385f
dos: 420f
tres: 445f

At 385f I got 3-4 hits of nice light vapor made visible by the sunlight. Really nice. At 420f after those hits I'm getting less vapor, but still nice. I'll try and get back with more info.

With the mouth piece, I found it helps to pull it out a bit so the O ring makes a seal. And a few sips to prime it.

Not sure why you would expect the Mac to fail. My connection has been flawless.

Ah yeah overtightening can break the coil leading to a short, but sounds like you've got it set up working now...

@Mr Mellish oh just bc it first was only on windows, and Mac users had issues when it first came out for them. Glad to hear its working fine

The Mac app works great will the latest OS X (El Capitan) and if I remember correctly most issues from users here were still running Snow Leopard or older.

I haven't had any problems on a Mac other than not being able to update the firmware. I had to use virtualization to work around the updater being Windows only.

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
http://vapemood.com/product/elevape-smart-vaporizer/ you can buy it for 169, with coupon elevape15

The customer review on their site sounds a little strange too:
"really cool how it heats up just by inhaling, rather than having to push buttons or anything,. It’s also really interesting that you can monitor lots of specs from the vape by hooking it up to a pc, I’ve never seen anything like it. The future is here, my friends!"

Lots of specs? I can only see the charge state and temps...?
Speaking of.. Is an app for iOS/android still in the works??

Did you guys download the app from elevapesmart.com or ipuffusa.com?

The one off elevapesmart just freezes my computer. And they are two different things. One says smart-vape, the other ipuff control. I'm not getting a connection either when I hook up my vape.

@famineinthemind You want to download the app from elepavesmart.com.

If you have the app from ipuffusa.com you need to uninstall that app for the version 1.34 app to work correctly. You can only have one app installed at a time.

im not getting 80 draws per charge.....25-30 max at 360......

We've been through this a few times. While there's always a slim chance it's defective, it's almost certainly because of what you call a "draw". It's very easy to take long hits and 'burn up the battery'. OTOH isn't the claim "50 to 80 PUFFS"? IMO that's entirely possible.

So I see two options, change your "draws" to "puffs" and try for the maximum possible number or use it in a manner of your choice and accept the results.

This is not unique to ESV. Solo had a big old tussle over battery life early on. While lowest temperatures (not very popular at all) and minimal hitting would get you to the claimed time, no practical users seemed to get past 8 or so 12 minute sessions. Still the claim seems defensible. Nothing like the windies that the GH folks promised early on (hours of battery life) of course.

I think ESV can demonstrate "50 puffs", I was easily able to show that before the power upgrade......after the upgrade it should be much easier. As they say "Your Mileage May Vary" depending on technique.

My advice is to enjoy the ESV, clean and charge it as necessary, and not stress on the number of draws per charge others might be getting.

Bastos,

What mouthpiece is that dude?

I lathed down a Flowermate tip holder and made a custom piece. I have a bunch of tips i made because the one it came with was loose and fell off out the box.

Ill post a bunch of tips i made this week. The best is my 14mm delrin tip for water pipes. :))

also, what mouthpiece mods are secure? maybe something smaller and shorter for a less discrete appearance....

This is an amazing machine I'm really having alot of fun figuring the esv out

There is a delrin mouthpiece from ipuff that is much better than the aluminum one, fits snug and stealth. Its actually the original mouthpiece

Also people say drip tip size works? @Vape Dr. posted a bunch of cool examples a while back

And yeah lot of factors for number of puffs, so I recommend reading through here to learn em, and/or expirment as much as you can imagine herbs/temps/draw wise

I recall that as well. For some reason "810" size tips stick in my mind (or what's left of it)?

I found a couple of suitable plastic ones in my junk box of old vape parts, I much prefer them to the metal ones......I'm clumsy enough to hit a tooth from time to time, kinda harshes yer mellow you know.

For ultimate stealth several guys have reported 'going native' (no MP) like with MFLB. Never tried it (same metal in the mouth deal) but it should work fine?

@Bastos Thanks for the awesome video! I was glued to my screen and green (pun?) with envy.
Looks like you've mastered this bad boy!

Thanks @tripwire!! I made the video for the sole purpose of information i wasnt able to find before buying my unit. The stuff i spoke about in the video is what I feel people should know. Not just on unboxing and reviews but more of a "Show Me What Works and What Doesnt" kind of video. Just my .02c.
