Discontinued Haze Dual V3

OK guys, I am getting a new portable to finally retire my Pax due to the fact that my charger is missing on that one, plus it's just time for an upgrade. I vape equal parts flower and concentrates so I thought this might be the best vape for me. I also looked at the crafty but it's too much money for the quality control issues they have. This just looks like the best solution for me. I saw some for around $175 but they were V2.5 and I want V3.0. Do you guys think I should just get this or keep looking? Where is the cheapest place to purchase one right now?

What were the improvements from 2.5->3.0?

@rshetts I'm sure you know but I also wanted to mention that when someone is combusting they destroy something like around 80% of the available and usable compounds. Those great effects are lost once the flame hits & never get to your body. Vaporizing almost utilizes near a 100% of the available compounds. Big difference! Just something to chew on for the burnouts. Lol.

@Dynalowrider well you've not been reading my drivel then. Me likes 1 and it's friends 2, 3 and 4. I easily get visible vapor on setting 1 and the huge flavor. You're spot on 1 is flavor heaven. The heat time between setting 1 and 2 on the first two versions took around 8 - 12 seconds. As to the heat time interval you spoke about I noticed my V2.5 was around 2 seconds. I'm interested to see if this is the same on my V3 arriving on Monday.

@mrbonsai420 I think the Haze would be perfect for you. Especially because you enjoy your flowers and concentrates. I've had sessions last hours on one load of concentrate n flower. If you go to the Haze website they list the new upgrades right on the first page. It's easy to find. I recommend checking out the website just to get a better feel for Haze and the company. Basically the differences are upgraded heating tech. A tougher stronger oven area. Iso resistant for easier cleaning and less prone to damage from any iso. Metal internals in the switch mechanism area. I think I might be missing one or two things off the top of my head but check them out. Now, about V2.5 vs V3 I would say just go for the new version. Why because it's the new improved model. But the V2.5 is just as good and carries the same warranty it's just not the V3 is all if that makes sense. Good luck and let us all know what you decide. I forget which thread someone posted this in, but I set a cheapo LED light Keychain next to my station. Sometimes I will exhale over the light just to show myself the vapor.

Agree. And, so far, L1 is my favorite on the v3. So much better than on my v2.5!

There doesn't seem to be much of a step between 1 and 2, (at least on my vape). I realize the temp control circuit can't be that precise, (the whole vape cost less than $250.00). It takes about 2 sec. from HL 1 to 2, 8 to 10 sec. from HL 2 to 3, and about 15 sec. for HL 4, (with a fresh battery).
I love this vape with my Orbiter, it's the best way to learn when you get the best vapor. You can see the vapor in the Orbiter.
I think the conduction screens are your best bet for vapor. Just remember you can't always see the vapor, but it's still there. It tastes sooooo good.

I generally use cans and found temp 1 to be a bit too low. I have used it and found it effective when using screens but since I like to prep my herb in advance and I have 6 cans I tend to vape more in cans than screens. I have an Orbiter myself and it adapts quite nicely to the Haze. Ill have to start out a few cans on 1 and see how that goes for me.

When using the cans on setting one I use the following technique. Because the temp. is so low it takes a bit more in time to acclimate the product inside. I just usually take 3 long slow draws. By this time setting 1 is rolling along nicely. After that kick back and enjoy it for a while.

This is all done without the orbiter just for clarification.

Hi guys, I was almost set for buying a Crafty, but after reading that the reliability issues are still much the same, I think I'm settled on the Haze V3!

Can anyone tell me, does the Haze V3 have any common reliability problems?

And does anyone know how the warranty will work if I need to return it (I'm living in the UK).

I realized that I actually hadnt tried cans on temp 1 since the Haze V2.5, so I was kind of basing my opinion off a past model. Last nite I vaped on temp 1 with cans and had a very nice, flavorful session. Im wondering now if the heat on the V3 temp 1 is more consistent or maybe set a touch higher than it was on the V2.5 because I could never get good vapor before. Anyway, I shall adjust my sessions accordingly and start mys sessions on temp 1. Thanks for the advice on that my fellow Hazeonauts!

Haze has been my #1 go to vape since they first came out and never had a problem with it. Haze cs is well known here in terms of how they handle their customers if anything goes wrong. I think you are making a wise choice my friend. I also saw on reddit that they also take care of all overseas customers. You can ask @scottg402 directly i guess.

I'm working with @FR0ST in cs email. Most warranty issues will be dealt with in the UK.

I was talking about all versions prior to the V3. I've yet to touch the newest version. Hmmmm Hazeonauts......that term seems very familiar to ME.

You are going to love it. I still do my sandwiches. .2 gram of sativa with a dab of honey inf. I use the new dry herb cans and it tastes amazing at setting 1-2 finishing off at 3. Second chamber i fill with my older flower stock. By the time i am done with the first chamber, flip it to the second one and my old stock taste like new to me

Just thought of two more questions

1. So I know with the Haze you get conduction screens, and convection screens. But what does the dry herb 'can' count as? Is it conduction or convection?
2. What is the best solution to clean the Haze with? Isopropyl alcohol? (All I have at the moment is some pure acetone).

The answer to #1 is some of both. You get conduction for the can sitting in the oven chamber and you get convection when the hot air is drawn through the can.

#2 is yes isopropyl alcohol.

My last session with the Haze V3 - it's been cutting out. That is to say; turning itself off after being in use for a while. Battery level seems OK - no red lights before the switch-off, just abruptly powers itself off. Is this related to overheating? It was on temp level 2 and 3 for the most part, had been on for a reasonable amount of time (I hadn't been measuring), long enough to make my herb dark brown, almost black. But no longer than half an hour or so. A session usually lasts 15-20 minutes for me, but I'd been reading and lost track of time.

It turned off once and I switched it back on, thinking I'd made some kind of mistake. Then it did it again, and so it alarmed me.

Anybody else experience anything like this?

EDIT: Also - when you're cleaning it, how do you know when a good level of cleanliness is achieved? It's quite hard to see inside. I usually keep going with the iso-dipped cotton buds (q-tips) until they stop picking up brown goo and changing colour. But I can't see inside so well to verify that I'm doing a good job.

Yes it does it to protect the heater. My V2.5 used to do that if i turned the unit on and did not inhale for a while or kept it on going with long pauses between draws. I asked this to Haze service and they explained this to me. Every time you draw, it cools down the chamber. If you keep it going without draws, it will shut off to protect your heater.

Please let me know if this shut down issue persists but it sounds like that was to prevent overheating. Send me a PM with some details if it happens again and we will get this resolved.

As for cleaning, same thing I do. When the q tip is no longer dirty, you are food to go.

Here's my basic cleaning.
I put a little Randy's black label (my go to glass cleaner) on a q tip a clean the oven top with it. It gets any grime or dirt off in seconds. I then take a damp qtip a wipe off the residue and a dry one to shine it.

The rest I do with 99 percent ISO one thin pipe cleaner and 2-3 q tips.

First I clean the little side hole by whatever basket I have used with the iso dipped pipe cleaner, and then I use the dry side to make sure I get everything.
Second I dip one side of a q tip (of course squeezing off the surface liquid first) and then insert it in the top of the Haze. I have a four dip method that rubes each side of the wall. I then turn it over and do this with the dry side. I keep doing this with fresh q tips until they come out clean.

Concerning the auto shut off. Before you use a battery, give it quick recharge right before you put it in your Haze. This has lessened the auto shut off considerably for me. Also it seems to be a safety feature, most vaporizers do shut off after a certain point. The Haze is still ridiculously long in their sessions, especially for a portable.

My Haze has just arrived! Sad that I've got to wait 6-8 hours for the batteries to Charge though, I'll have to go to bed before that lol.

One question, where would you guys put hash? In the consentrates can I guess?

You don't need to wait. Just wait until the lights stop flashing and you are good to go! I suspect Hash would work best in the cans, yes.

Hash works best in the can with a silicone lid. Only use a little and break it up, but it doesn't have to be powder like. Big pebbles are fine. It's got a good flavor with the Haze, and you can always sprinkle a little in a dry herb load, like a seasoning almost.

Hello everyone! I just noticed that this will be my 1000th post on FC. Although I love this entire forum I thought it only be fitting that the post lands here where it started for me. Been meaning to give my thoughts on v 3.0. Had it for almost a week now. Still getting to know the device again.

Likes:
1. Whatever Haze did to the insulation/oven. Setting 1 may now be my go-to setting because it delivers flavor and impact. Before it was more for flavor, but I would notch it up to 2 after the first puff.
2. The new battery compartment. I have not needed to use a butter knife to leverage the new one open!
3. The dry herb can lid. I still prefer convection screen because I think it uses the herb more conservatively (less wasted due to conduction heat) but now the dry herb lid gives me, imho, better flavor than the Silicon lid and is a viable alternative to convection screen to keep my ovens cleaner. Therefore, I may invest in more cans and lids. A little conservation and flavor sacrificed for cleanliness.
4. Heat up times. Did you all make an improvement there? It seems better.

Dislikes:
1. The new stem and fitting. I am an ordinary person with ordinary strength and weak fingernails. This thing is one helluva bitch to slowly, slowly, slowly drag out of the opening. I usually stop partway up to give my hand a break from that pinch and pull position. But, hey, at least it isn't getting stuck anymore, so that is good. That was usually not a problem for me, though, with the 2.5 and was a good reminder for when to clean the device.

Overall, I love the improvements and this this is a better device. I just wish the stem were easier to work with, because I still have the user error of forgetting I am warming up the device, having it shut off, having to slowly, agonizingly push the stem down so I can switch it off and on again, only to draw the f-ing stem back OUT again. But that is my ADD (squirrel!) and does not speak to the majority of users. I DO think that it diminishes the usability by med patients with arthritis in their hands, however. I would NOT recommend this device to any patient with pain in the hands or who is unable to pinch and stoney pull with their hands...unless someone has a DIY MacGyver solution to make it easier - loop strong twine and use a slamming door Ala home tooth removal?

Anyway. Love the Haze. Excellent product and the perfect combo with my UD. Now I just want one more device - a cartridge pen for ultra stealth - and I think VAS will end...for now.
