Can someone tell me what S&B charges for a Crafty battery replacement (that isn't covered by warranty)? Thx!
My experience;
I had seen, in S&B's FAQ on website, that batteries for a Crafty would be $50 US (some months ago). At that time, I sent a Crafty in for repair and got a call that battery was spent (too many charge cycles, I've posted about this before). The bill would be $70 US, I was told. After aggravation and discussion, I authorized a charge for battery replacement, $70. What came back was a new, boxed piece, and I had been charged $50. I dunno. I think that with a $20 discount they were attempting to smooth over my frustration, work with me, or whatever. I was happy enough to have a good working piece back! Good working for 2 months, then that one went bad and I was finally allowed to 'upgrade' to a Mighty. I think that was $80, but my recall may not be exact, a bit of a long road. (EDIT; correction, the cost was $60, listed on Invoice as 'Warranty Replacement")

The FAQ area was edited at some point now says battery for Crafty would be $70 US (and $90 for the Mighty's 2). It's possible that they realized that the site had not yet been updated to the new price and seeing that, charged me the original price.

My lingering question, that I haven't posed to S&B yet, is about the term of my warranty. After 3 Crafty's (in 8 month's time) now I have this Mighty, acquired on an 'upgrade/warranty' deal. Did my Mighty warranty begin a new 2 year period, or am I on the original clock form first Crafty purchase in Feb. '15? I have a funny feeling I'm going to need it!

Btw: this also means I cannot test my android-crafty app with old firmwares anymore - will most likely get a new device with new firmware from what I read here - please contact me if you use the app with old firmware and there are any problems.

Thank you so much for writing that app. Has saved my OG Crafty from having to be sent in since my phone upgraded to Android 5.

If anyone else has a firmware 2.04 Crafty and can't connect to Android 5 phone, give this app a shot.

Thanks Ligi!

Pretty disappointed, not going to lie. I'm glad they stand by their product, but I'm worried what happens if/when I'm out of warranty. Mailed it today and I'm back to the mflb for now

Hey everyone, I'm new here. I've read about customers sometimes being able to upgrade from Crafty to Mighty. How do you arrange this? My Crafty just gave me the orange lights after less than a month and a half, and I want to trade it in for a Plenty instead.

I've emailed info@storz-bickel.com, asking about this, but the email I received in response seemed to completely disregard my request and instead they asked me to ship in only my heating base for servicing.

Any Thoughts?

Welcome.
I think they want to determine if your Crafty's problem is one covered by warranty. This is the starting point because, if the item is not covered (let's say, you dropped it in the toilet) they do not owe you anything.
On the other hand, if you have a legitimate warranty claim, which it does sound like, I believe they will be willing to talk about options. I think you may have a good chance on the Plenty request. Doesn't it sell for less than Crafty to begin with?
It may seem like your request was ignored, but they are just being realistic. Nothing will happen if you don't send it in for evaluation!
Folllow instructions on website; Mail it in (base only) with purchase receipt (or place & date of purchase) and a note explaining the trouble, AND be clear in the note that you'd like to know about switching at this time, to a device that better suits your use pattern. Include yout address and email. When I did this, the next thing I knew I was approved and got a reasonable invoice for my change from Crafty to Mighty. No discussion or explanation (they're kinda minimalist in this way), just action and satisfaction.
Best of luck, not to worry!

ps
this is why Crafty & Mighty owners often keep a backup vape on hand! Love my Mighty, but the Pax/Pax2 have always filled the void for me!

Thanks everyone for the nice tips! I'm getting better and better at it and discovered my fav temp to be at 374°F and when the vapor is almost gone boost it to 392°F. Like that I can get a nice high! I'm still surprised that when I used to smoke, I used much less material and got high as well.

Hey! Glad things are looking 'up'!
You'll certainly be able to dial in better on the quantity as you go along. You know, use less/need less kinda works, but that takes some discipline...

Looks like you are 2 hours before the new 80 hour cut off limit for battery replacement. Let us know the result of your warranty claim.

From what I have read you have to return the unit multiple times and have repeated problems before the offer you the upgrade fee. Let us know how you go. I have seen people quoted $50US, 50EU and $100us for the upgrade fee. Good luck!

What's up with that ?!?!? A published policy or a customer experience?
Next, I wonder if the Mighty has a counter for hours of use.
Too many questions, sorry. Yours is a provocative statement...

All these battery replacements and issues with the Crafty (and much lesser extent Mighty) were so disappointing to me after keeping up with these two threads since they were created. Even previously owning the Crafty and Mighty and watching everything that was pretty much predicted, slowly unfold, made me decide to sell as I didn't want potential future problems, and felt the value wasn't there for the money.

After a break of several months from both vapes, and continuing to watch these threads over my shoulder, and having affairs by testing so many other vapes, and selling them, I have made the decision that I simply don't really give a shit about forking $90 out down the road to make my vape like new again, and accept the cost of owning these awesome portables. Pretty sure i'll be biting on the Crafty again in addition to my newly purchased Mighty from Puffitup!

And for those in Canada who don't want to deal with cross border purchases/currency, I have not seen a better price for the Crafty or Mighty than here!

I am also among the converted. I will pay to stay on the ride.
Not saying I won't go down without a fight, but you, my friend are a realist, and I agree that throwing money (assuming availability of some) at it is a valid, viable and low stress way to get beyond the whole issue. Batteries wear out, like brakes on your car. Don't want to have to go without either!

Better question for S&B engineers? Maybe because they make more profit this way?

I'd love for my Arizer Solo batteries to be hot swappable.... but at least I can replace them myself when the time comes.

Just curious....my craft should arrive today and imy super stoked
Haven't vaped all week awaiting my new beauty also picked up some blue dream and lemon haze
Just as I read through the thread I'm worked about the lifespan of this vape...I've had my solo and ascent for a very long time without a single problem or hiccup yet

I'm afraid you have much reading in this thread ahead of you. Crafty and Solo are practically polar opposites in terms of reliability.

I'm also a one or two hit wonder, and I'm glad to hear of your method, which makes sense. Here's my question: do you pack a full bowl and do it over a few days, or do you use the little pad and just use what you need for each wonder-hit?
I'm sure S & B as well as other vape manufacturers watch these forums so take note manufacturers of what your customers are asking for and how we customize your products and design them with that in mind like making the Crafty with the one hitter and long sesh users in mind and speak to both in your literature. Either way FC will come together to make your products better!!!

I agree with every thing except the efficient big clouds, they both are FOG MACHINES, and they both can be used efficiently, but crafty ABSOLUTELY extracts more active ingredients. It seems you are basing extraction on Abv darkness, I thought the same before, but as stated else where on the forum, that is simply not the case...when I got my volcano I was disappointed that I couldn't get dark brown abv, but I couldnt get anymore vapor from the evenly vaped light brown abv.....crafty is the same, its called quality extraction.

Edit: I also find Craftys taste better than using a solo the standard way (upright, stem in for whole session), where the conduction taste becomes noticeable, and equal to solo hamster style convection mode (removing stem between draws)

Battery life also becomes debatable if you include pocketable battery packs for crafty.

All that said, I still do and will ALWAYS Love and have room in my collection for the tank of portable vaporizers.
On the question of extraction has any Crafty/Mighty users tried using their ABV in another high end vapes like Evo, Herbie or Cano? I have used my MFLB ABV in my Herbie and get a surprising amount of vapor from the ABV.
