@ZC - Air inlets, ooo, errr ... LOL! I figured there was a reason this wouldn't work or somebody'd have done it already. BTW its like 3/4" not a whole inch - basically the length of the metal heater from the bottom to the notch. I measured all the way to the top before.

I wasn't thinking of a "custom" stem per se, just a little longer. I know I can get varying length stems at my LPS (Local Paraphernalia Shop) - or maybe I should say LHS (Local Head Shop), so I figured it wouldn't be too hard to get something appropriate.

I actually had thought of the second screen, but then I'd have to pull it out to reload. I had hoped something like this might be easier. And maybe it would be if we went to an actual custom stem that has notches around the edges so you can still draw air in. Now I'm wondering if a bong stem - with the cutouts in the part that goes under water - might work.

I'm all about making things as idiot proof as possible for my own protection.

@underdog - as for the o-ring sliding around - perhaps it wasn't seated well when I got it, or the notch isn't as well-notched as most of them are?

What has been happening is that over time - say a week or so of daily use, which (due to my lightweightness) is usually 6 or 8 draws. Anyway the ring seems to gradually slide down until it becomes noticeable to me, then I would wiggle it back up as best I could. My eyesight is not exactly stellar so I never noticed the notch. Even now that I know that it is there, I have to hold it under strong light and try to peer in sideways to see it, LOL! Possibly I wasn't getting it back into the notch either, hence it would eventually slide back down.

But no worries. I have a new one in now. I wont swear it is well-seated into the notch, but I am sure it at least hasn't slid partially down past it. If its a little high, as I suspect, then any slippage ought to push it into but not past the notch. We'll see how it goes.

I've also had issues with my o-ring sliding down, could this be something to do with recent o-rings or notches? I know I haven't pushed on it with enough force to dislodge it based on underdog's estimates of the amount of force needed, I don't really have the strength to do that unless I'm really pressing on something and I've been pretty gentle with my dog.

I was wondering if one of these put where the groove is on the aircore would stop the o-ring from sliding down?

Is combustion supposed to be possible if I try? Because I couldn't if I wanted to (which I wouldn't). Using the nylon 14mm through my bong I can get the herb black, have never come close to combustion though. But if I use direct draw, the farthest I can take my herb is gold.

I mean it still does the job, but at times I feel like I could be getting more.

If you're using a VVPS, most definitely. I actually only combusted in a Nylon though the time I did it. Overpacked. Was too hot. Through water too so hit it too hard. I was at 13.8.

Without that though, I'm with you and never had it close to combustion, or even that dark in the DD stems like you. My direct/WPA Ed's TNT stems do get very dark though, much darker then the stock glass. I reckon its because it's a metal bowl so just more heat retention.

My O-rings also don't seem to slide

Yes if you can get one over the tube and down to the groove and have it still be tight enough it should work just fine other than being a little kludgy. :2c:

OK cool ... I only had an o-ring slide down on me once and that was probably due to me improperly installing it past the groove...the snap ring idea was more for those who might be having that issue more often. It seems Once the o-ring is evenly in the groove it doesn't really budge.

I am yet to break my glass stems :) Different uses for different cases I suppose. I love my NonG too! I'd leave the house with a nylon or steel stem, not the glass for sure!
Maybe it's just me?

I have Limestone floors through out my house and my garden has rock paving!

My wife is anti carpet?

I break glass like no tomorrow!

The UD has ideal NonG's!

I have been using a NANO however I keep breaking GonG's!

Either I have some made at a machine shop or change vaporizers!

I spend more on GonG's than vaporizers themselves!

Water Path I love!

GonG's or glass adapters are lame.

Wood or WonG's swell. (can't handle the effect on flavor)

I could go back in time like the 70's when Zig-Zags were vogue!

it's been a while since i've posted but figured it would be a good time since i was able to use my UD today for the first time in a very long time. unfortunately due to my career field, i'm unable to indulge like i used to but the few times a year i can my trusty UD is right there by my side.

i fired her up today and i'm getting clouds like it's day 1 out of the box even though i got this baby back in early 2012. it never ceases to amaze me just how little material i need to get loads of vapor. what's hilarious is that after my session today I go to look out the window and it's foggy as hell outside! maybe i should've turned down my VVPS a bit

glad to see the UD community is doing as great as ever. happy holidays to you all especially to you underdog and underdogette!

If you want to try an Underdog out before you buy we could send you one of our community loaners for a week or two? Just ship it back (or on to the next member who needs it) when you're done?

Sounds like one of them "I'll make you an offer you can't refuse" situations to me(without the broken kneecaps if you say 'no thanks'). How amazingly awesome and trusting with total confidence in their product.

This just highlights the unequaled customer service we receive From Underdog for sure.

(sidenote) loving my SS stem it's got a great feel in the hand and function is great with really Tasty and cool hits for direct draw.

@ataxian the NonGs/nylon stems/SS stems are truly a life saver for those of us who's fingers/hands sometimes seem to have a mind of their own that has a grudge against anything easily breakable.

I study alot mostly philosophy beyond many other subjects.

I've been studying vaporizers the last few years and wondered why the acessories haven't evolved?

2016 will be the year of legalization federally for a harmless weed!

Safer than soda!

Bars are legal?

The UNDERDOG vaporizer might be successful as the IPHONE one day?

The EGO of Homo Sapiens to have breakable attachments?

Or is it pure greed?

So easy to grow?
Even in colder climates you could grow enough for the whole year when it's warmer!

Vaporizing does bring Logic.

I have the standard and like it very much. No o rings to worry about for one so that's a big reason why I chose that make. I don't know if the air core effects flavor or performance, but the UD standard is a great vape.

I rock Standard Cores typically, and for the longest time I was doing it like you, but then I got a pack of O-Rings, and I pushed it down the port on my standards so its flush against the heater. I like the "smoothness" that it enables when I'm pulling my dog off the stem, and I also never stir, but with the O-Ring I'm able to like, swivel around the bowl. So rather than stirring the glass or Ed's stems, I actually just pivot the underdog and direct the air path along the sides. Can probably do it without the o ring, but I didn't like the idea of moving the metal on glass around.

That's how I use mine as well when I'm using my Standard. :2c:
