Jack of all trades, partaker of vape
I get the feeling this could become highly addictive!!
I'm sure all of us can assure you that, yes, this will lead to VAS (Vaporizer Acquisition Syndrome).
If you don't want VAS, STOP NOW!
I say this now, 11 vapes later!
Thought about selling some but can't decide on which ones. OTOH, it's fun to have several vapes in your rotation.

Quick question.. If I use the aa with a bong wouldnt the vapor just disappear when it goes through the water bong. . And if it doesn't it must bring down the thc content in the hoot... I just don't understand how water vapor can pass through water without turning back into water... If you know what I mean?? Or am I jus baked and over thinking it?? Lol

Cannabis vapor is an oil and not water soluble.

Actually some of the water vapor does in fact condense out in the water, but water from the WT also evaporates most of the time since the load dries out (all water evaporated) before serious THC vapor happens. This means the WT is actually making the vapor you breathe in more moist (helps prevent 'dry mouth').

As Brother KF so wisely points out, we don't fear water vapor and we know that while a bong will trap nasty stuff in combustion use, there's just no nasty stuff to trap in vaping. Well you will trap some of the waxes and stuff we don't want anyway.

In the laboratory they trap THC from the vapor by bubbling through Methyl Alcohol, which will dissolve THC (and most oils....). But 'oil and water don't mix'. And lucky for us, otherwise bubblers would rob us (which would make us sad) rather than cool and moisturize the vapor....and make us happy.

I like to use the bubbler, i think it filters some "fine particles" but let all the thc pass through because i get the same high with the same amount of stuff and its a bit smoother.
Eventually a good solution for people who have a harsher strain (or even COPD? or other diseases?, but thats of course another situation and varies much from people to people i think).

Do you guys miss the 2 lower temp settings that the solo offers?

Well, sorta, but not really....... I seldom use lower temperatures, but step 4 on Solo (195C) is missing on Air (pick from 190 or 200C).

Actually, if you check "the 2 lower temp settings that the solo offers" is pretty bogus. First there's only one, and it's useless for making vapor (50C), step 2 on Solo is 185C. Step 1 on Air is 180C (lower than step 2 on Solo) so 'lowest useful temperature' honors goes to Air, not Solo?

I understand that many believe Solo has lower temperature options, but the maker doesn't seem to agree???? And for sure it's not more than one at most.

I enjoy my Air both through a bubbler & natural. Both have their own merits & are used for different purposes really, but that may be more to do with the temps than the method?

Sippin on a stem I start on white & switch to green & my 1/2 stem packs last the full 10 minutes. These are when I just want to kick back or it is early morning & need to be "able to do shit". If I am hitting the bubbler it is only on red in the Air & a 1/2 stem is done in 3 or 4 pulls. This is what happens when I have had a hard day or want to get stoned quickly.

I just got home from a working dinner & as I lost my evening until 10.00pm there is no sippin tonight. In fact I have had 3 1/2 stems through water back to back & am feeling high as fuck :whoa:

im pretty sure i fucked my air up. :( i cleaned up the stem with some dish soap, sponges, craft pipe cleaners, etc and i think i got some shit stuck in the little air holes. i ran the air on red with the empty stem in it a few times and it didnt taste right when i used it. i used it last night and i still have a lingering plasticy (or dish soap, not sure) taste/smell this morning. not really sure what to do with this thing now. clean the heating chamber up real good with some iso and buy a new glass stem? its not my main vape but i dont want it to become an expensive paper weight.

Do a few burn offs... (10 min on red with no stem). Also, unclog those holes with a hat pin or some long an sharp. The top is removable for access and cleaning (although I've haven't taken one apart - YET), and it can be accessed for cleaning. Some here may have better instructions on that (disassembly). Once you're good to go, stay away from those nasty chemicals. I've used a bit of ISO (the littlest bit I can get on a q-tip), and get oven super clean (be sure to clean with a damp q tip after). But recently, even with super heavy use, I just use a q tip with a little of my own saliva, and it works like magic (Im the only one who uses it).

There are small amounts of goodies that don't make it thru a water piece. That's why you can reclaim these goodies later. Most are deposited on the glass, most near the entrance to the glass. There are no exact figures---wish someone would do an experiment but likely a very small amount that is lost.

But if you use a long whip or long glass mouthpiece, there will be condensation losses there too. For minimal loss you'd use a 1" mouthpiece BUT that would be hot and harsh.
Most find the minimal loss thru a bubbler well worth the cooled and moisturized vapor !

EDIT a way too further minimize losses is to use warm or hot water as there is less condensation AND warmer water moisturizes the vapor more than cold for a moister/better experience.

But aren't the oils carried in the water vapor?

No, oil and water don't mix there either. They just happen to be in the same place at the same time. Like Oxygen, rain, air pollution and birds might all be in the air over the parking lot at the same time. Each is independent of the others.

And again, once the load gets hot enough to make vapor (say 300F?) any water in the load is long gone (all being turned to vapor before 212F long before and drifted away. Air from the oven is DRY, no water vapor in the stem unless you add it after the fact.

Ok.. I understand.. I think.. So the moisture in the bud and the oils from the thc make up their own seperate vapors.. So it's a blend coming through the water pipe.. ?? Lol Was baked last night and it just kinda made me think.. :science:

Wouldn't cooling down the hoot too much turning the aa's thc vapor back to a solid? Just like it does on the side of the glass stems.. Leaving parts deposited in the water? Lol.. Just got high.. got me thinking again.. Help lol.. Doh :bang::science::rofl:

I dont use orange or red, green is my lovely color(even on the bubbler), but everyone has the choice and that´s really awesome with this device:)!

Hehe i use this technic too, its great thank you for the tip!
I make it with alc like you too(after a month or so), very good method (oven is 99% factory clean after that):).

I saw your last few posts. Hopefully this will clear some things up. When vaporizing we are doing a phase change from a liquid (cannabis oil) into a gas (vapor). This is a dynamic change, apply enough heat and you get vaporization (like water boiling on stove). But place something cold in front of the steam and you will get water droplets (if you wear glasses you know exactly what I mean), this change from gas into liquid is condensation. Similarly, you will lose some cannabis vapor when it cools down, running it through water you are definitely causing more condensation but its smoother and more enjoyable and its debatable if maybe with water you can take bigger hits and get more effect.

We like phase change (vaporization) because there you are consuming basically the same compound thats in cannabis. When you light the plant on fire you are causing a chain of reactions and bonds are being broken are reformed (why you get nasty stuff like tar and other carcinogens).

Maybe this will help, notice the arrows go both directions:

Can the air be use to take a couple of hits, put down, then pick up again for a couple more hits?

That's the way I used to smoke before I got the flowermate 5s. Can I remove the glass bowl and put it back in when I'm ready for more? Or would that waste to much herb?

BTW, pardon me if it has been answered....I'm on page 51 out of 307 pages.

Yes, lots of us pull the stem before it's exhausted. Draw some cold air through it and it stops making vapor very quickly. Easy to resume the session when you're ready.

A bit hard on the battery (heating up from cold all the time) but it works just fine.

@OF Thank you so much for all your help!

I wonder if the solo would be a better option considering the bigger battery?

You're very welcome of course, glad to help when I can.

I actually like the Solo over Air overall I think. Air got a lot of use early on (new and all) but I find Solo is easier to hang onto (of all things.....). I tend to be a pretty casual sipper and the top of the flats keep it from slipping out, where the smaller 'prefect cylinder' on Air has nothing to aid the grip.

Not only does Solo give twice as many sessions per charge but it has a very useful battery charge meter. In seven steps it 'counts down' remaining charge at about 'a LED per session' and even has some reserve at the 'no lights left' condition. OTOH, with Air you can simply swap in a charged spare (if you have one) if you get caught out. And of course eventual battery replacement is easier on Air.

I also like being able to tip the stem to control air flow (not possible with Air), the trade off for which is the stems are looser than with Air. I see it as a stem, not a handle, do that's not an issue with me but it is for some.

It's hard to go wrong with either, and many will want and find need for both.

Regards and best wishes with your dilemma.

In my opinion the solo offers alittle better flavor and alittle smoother. Other than that the air is better all around from my use. If you have 2 batteries you essentially have the capacity solo yet the air is way smaller and nicer to hold/use. I like the firm stems since I use the air as a portable vaporizer so its useful then but doesnt really detract from home use (tilting the solo stem is kind of cool but if I had to pick id pick firm stem). It also can be used in other scenarios much more freely (while walking on a trail for example). Basically what im saying is overall I dont miss the solo (owned for 2 years before I sold it in favor of the air).

I think the way you use it will make the most difference between getting an air vs solo, id say the air can do pretty much anything the solo can do but the solo cant do everything the air can do.

Sorry if this is kind of incoherent, its late and im kind of sleep deprived.

It can indeed but as pointed out by OF it will kill the battery. What I have found works for me is to create my own domed screens that I flatten out inside the stem. That way you only load about 1/2 as much as usual & you have more "fresh" stems per gram & the 1/2 load tends to last a full 10 minute session.

I often wonder if I should have purchased a Solo instead of the Air but I always have a couple of spare batteries & I purchased it specifically because I could just pop in a fresh battery. OF seems to be all knowing on the Arizer portables (well most portables it appears :)). Does anyone think the Solo is better through a bubbler than the Air though?

On another note it would have been great to get some feedback from fellow Air owners on the grinder post I made when I was looking during the BF sales.

Solo vs Air, depends on what you want... 2 great vapes.

Solo - longer battery life than Air, but not swappable
AA- I have 12 batts, last about 4 sessions each, swappable

Solo - fat like a can of red bull
AA- thin like a cigar (diameter between a nickel and a quarter)

Solo - lose fitting stem, can fall out
AA - tight stems, can play air drums

Solo - medicated as hell, great hits, clouds
AA - medicated as hell, great hits, clouds

Solo - super efficient, especially with dome screen
AA - super efficient, especially with dome screen

Solo - probably works a bit better with water (guess)
AA - good with water, but most prefer Solo here

Solo - not super stealth (not bad)
AA - super stealth (great)

Solo- Nicer on/off switch
AA- Led on / off switch a bit tougher to read

Both easy to clean, load pack stems, and reliable as hell. I'm sure I left stuff out, but this is MHO, but I'm sure AA / Solo lovers will have more to add. Mostly, for me, I like the feel of the AA over the Solo - personal preference. I got an LSV and had it sold the same day, huge and just not for me.
