The MiniVap is first on my list for my next purchase. It's kinda expensive so I ended up buying the Haze. The Haze is an awesome vaporizer too. I checked the MiniVap website and it wasnt working very well. I wanted to see if there were any sales through the company. It looks like there aren't very many online stores that carry it, if any. Just the company sells the MiniVap? I guess I could read through the thread. I'm being lazy.

bolded above-
our own @stickstones carries miniVAP. US customers should order thru him. There was/is a 20% off sale which is good thru him too!!! Black Friday but maybe still good???
mV is rarely/almost never on sale so now is the time.
And it's almost like getting two vapes in one since it has a battery with almost 3 hour capacity and option of AC puck for desktop use.
Superb taste. Developed for medical mj research in Europe so ultra clean vapor path. Almost never needs cleaning. Not small enough for normal pants pockets but ok for jacket pockets

Ask on the Haze site about it's airpath. It's obvious I'm a Haze fan. One other piece is that they have amazing customer service. They hired Scott who is a regular on the board. He was a major help in my exchanging the 2.5.

I'm not sure you would have to ask @scottg402 about the air path of the Haze. It has a stainless steel oven. It comes with a glass and a stainless steel mouthpiece. I've been happy with my unit so far.

Initially there was some off gassing but I let the unit run with cannabis in it for a session.
When I used it I could taste a bit of an off taste but that usually happens with any new vaporizer. I guess folks aren't suppose to do a burn off without the Haze being loaded. By the time I used it a third time I didn't notice any off taste to the vapor.

Edit
Kinda expensive for the MiniVap, I will need to save up. Maybe next sale.

The best vaporizer hasn't been invented yet - always searching....:D

Are you still planning on getting a minivap? It's hard for me to believe that it's so much better than other vapes.

While they don't necessarily respond to the OP needs and described usage pattern, I think it's hard to beat the Zion and Firewood when it comes to vapor path purity and materials used. Those are the only two vapes I got that required absolutely no burn-in when new and that could be used right out of the box. No off-gassing, no funky electronics or plastic/silicone smells.

On the desktop front I would recommend the Vapolution 2 and possibly the 3 when it's released (tbd), as well as @Hippie Dickie's own Bud Toaster (aka the Cube) All three being true all-glass vapor path devices.

Zion for sure, but I don't know why no one has mentioned the Elevape yet? (EDIT i see it was early) Totally pure and fully cleanable, amazing taste and stealth, powerful instant hits. It's got its own quirks like most on demand convection vapes if you check the thread, but for many its function is pretty incredible...

I of course say Zion offers perfect purity as well, like the torch powered Daisy and Lily (both incredible as well), but yeah its a wait. Best vape I've used to date though, didn't leave me wanting for anything except maybe stealh...

Firefly works well too, there can be warranty claims needed but not necessarily, its definitely very pure and pretty simple... It was a tough call to list mine in the classifieds but figured brand new was the way to do it.

I wouldn't do Crafty/Mighty just bc all of the plastic, more annoying to deal with warranty issues (at least FF is fast and easy) and all that plastic! Even if it is fully safe, I don't like that. Plus its session based, constantly cooking without hitting with conduction, I prefer on demand pure convection like ESV FF Zion personally...

You should also check out the new VapCap

It's a shame that Zion probably won't be released for a good while :(. I havn't heard of the Firewood before, I'll take a look at this now!

Thanks for the input @Shit Snacks! I was almost decided on what I wanted too, now you've gone and thrown another spanner in the works :p.

I've just taken another look at the Elevape, watched a review, had a look on their website and read the first few pages of the FC thread. I don't have time to read through all 100 pages, what makes you suggest the Elevape SV as being particularly good for air path / vapor purity?

Any idea when The Zion will be made commercially available? If it was out now I probably wouldn't be having such a hard time choosing a vape!

I'm still tempted by the Firefly, very appealing design, clean air path etc.

Although plastic, I'm sure that S&B would not have chosen plastics that are not made to handle the temperatures the vaporizer can reach - Plus the manual states the vaporizer has been TÜV SÜD approved, and RoHS compliant?

The VapCap looks cool too, it's neat that it clicks when it's up to temperature and how easy it is to use with bubble hash etc. I will consider it as a backup vape for sure! Although I do really like the Lotus as a backup.

The Firewood 3 is only 2 monthes in so the last 10-15 pages of the thread will cover this device for you. Do some research bit I think it is a good option. It is my second favorite portable behind the ESV, however I tend to use it more than the ESV just because I have 2 extra capsules and can keep them preloaded which makes the Firewood more convenient for me then the ESV.

The ESV is hands down the purest as it is built from aluminum and has no inert materials in the vapor path, heat chamber or the bowl. Its all aluminum, no rubber, no plastic, no silicone, just aluminum. The aluminum also cools the vapor like no other portable vaporizer.

The Zion is not likely to be available for purchase again until February or March at the rate things are currently going so your chances of having a Zion by spring break even are pretty slim right now. Of course that is only my opinion based on my observations of the progress since Spring of last year.

Haha yeah man, so many options!

So Elevape (first btw best to start at most recent page of thread and work back, lots of new owners asking the basic questions and posting positive reviews lately), basically it is all aluminum vapor path, big wide chamber that can be fully cleanable in a soak along with the bowl and steel screens. It heats instantly as you are drawing, so the taste is so pure and smooth. Required no burn in and suffers no off tastes or outgassing. It has its own quirks but its a pretty cool and well thought out design, all American made and assembled, fantastic customer service.

For Zion, pre order shipping seem like 2016 now, as the final heater design is being finalized for best performance. Keep an eye on it, it is truly a portable desktop, on another level from other portables I've used in pretty much every way. Be a while before retail though

Yeah I'm sure S&B is safe etc, its personal preference, I hate the constant cooking and nonreplacable batteries as well as the apparently tedious warranty process. For the price at least, if it wasnt so pricey that'd be another story perhaps.

Yeah VapCap would be a great back up, so cheap no reason not to buy. It's got more conduction and radiation going on vs Lotus, but far simpler it seems. Another amazing torch vape is Daisy, for a round the house portable the vapor quality is kind of unreal, tastes great and the clouds off any amount are on another level really (Lily is similar but smaller).

Yeah and don't get me wrong, the Firefly is pretty great. Simpler than ESV for most, less potential inconsistency, though some can have trouble with its learning curve too, like any pure on demand convection vape, anyone I use it with is fine and loves it. I made it my group vape while ESV was for solo, but I used FF solo a ton too. It's maybe a bit quicker to clean FF vs ESV, bowls is bigger and the whole unit bigger/heavier, much less stealth and one temp that rises as you hold button. Takes longer to take a hit from vs ESV and Zion due to draw resistance, but strong hits too. And yes it is really really nice in hand, nice design and feel in your hand for sure, and its just plain fun to use. If you're interested in getting a new one with extras for a good price pm me

Honestly at this rate I think I'll never end up buying a vaporizer, I'll just spend my life researching hahaha.

Okay -- So a pretty important aspect for me is that I need to be able to load the vaporizer with CBD crystals or consentrates / waxes etc. For this the Mighty/Crafty and Firefly should be ideal with their liquid pads.

How are the Firewood and ESV for consentrates? Ideally I'd like to be able to preload my vaporizer, and take CBD hits when required.

Do these vaporizers require much technique to get consistent hits (like with the Lotus)? I'd really like something that gives a consistent experience with ease.

The all aluminum ESV is sounding pretty awesome, presuming the airpath is completely segregated from the circuitry?

And yeah, S&Bs warranty process does sound pretty long winded, especially considered the fact that i'll almost definitely have to use it at some point. Especially with the none replaceable battery. Plus being in the UK I think I'd have to send it back to Germany...

I reckon I'll get a VapCap just for fun though :).

The only problem with the Lily and Daisy is the fact that you can end up inhaling butane if you start inhaling before your lighter sparks properly, and then you're inhaling the by products of your lighter if it's not burning clean. Not a massive problem, but for this reason I prefer the Lotus.

I'll let you know about the FF, but I'm in the UK btw.

Haha yeah that's how i felt at first too! Started with a Thermovape T1 bc a friend had one, then discovered GH (after the campaign unfortunately) and the obsession began...

Hmm yeah I don't have concetrate experience, but I know Elevape works with the same type of oil pad, just need to cut it down to fit. ESV airpath is isolated, electronics are in a separate section.

All of these are more technique driven like Lotus, but less so bc no torch. For ESV and FF theyre probably even just bc many people have no trouble with either and both have plenty of cases of people who do. But FF I trusted more people with, but ESV can be good if the person isn't already used to a slow sip session vape.

So theyre not as simple as Mighty and other more automatic session vapes, but I think they are far more rewarding and efficient as a result.

I've never tasted butane in Lily or Daisy, it burns up in the flame, I don't think it's possible to pull just butane through the intake without a flame... At least using the cheap yet solid torch they give you.

Ah UK probably complicates all of this a bit more for you, but not too bad perhaps, gotta figure out best price and wawarranty for that. Nothing a little research can't resolve! ;)

Before you buy, you mentioned oil several times. The Haze is really amazing with oil. You put a dab in this can that you pre load any time (two can fit in the Haze) and you can carry more on you easily. The lid is silicone and doesn't get dirty at all, and you can get a long tasty session out of this dab like 10-15 min easy. Actually I use cut up S&B SS oil pads in my Haze because they work well to keep the cans clean. They also can be scraped against really sticky concentrates and thrown right in the can and will remove clean. Scott will answer ANY question you have.

But isn't the aluminum painted in some fashion? I don't own one so I'm wondering, it's hard to see from the pictures.

It is not painted. It is anodized which is a chemical acid bath process that oxidizes the metal. Basically the finish is the aluminum, it is not an additional layer of material like paint.

This does bring up a good point though that is often forgotten or overlooked often but has been discussed in the Elevape thread previously about the silver ring that appears (in the heat chamber where the lid rubs against the heat chamber walls) shortly after one starts using their new ESV. The manufacturer has explained that this is the initial wear and tear expected to happen and that any metal shavings that have been scraped off will not be affected by heat so you will not ever have to be concerned about vaping inert materials.

On Vapefiend.co.uk the Crafty is only a pound cheaper than the Firefly! Priced at just under £200.

The Goboof Alpha is a hell of a lot cheaper here than in the US because it's made in Ireland.

Vapefiend's Black Friday sale is still on by the looks of it. They are selling MFLBs for £50 with free delivery! That's a deal! They are also doing a sale on the Maud-Dib.

Have you vaped before? I ask because you say that '"I'm looking to get into vaporization" and vapes are obviously an expensive investment for someone who hasn't tried it before. I would assume that most people starting vaping would want to at least start with a cheaper (not necessarily bad quality) vape such as the MFLB to see if they like it first. That's what I did. I then immediately bought a Volcano. Although in terms of what you want, I don't think the MFLB (although very small) is that stealthy compared to other devices that look like mobile phones/radios.

Depending on how much you have in your pocket, I personally would get a cheap reliable back up vape such as the MFLB or the Lotus, to see if I liked vaping first. Then move on to the more serious units.

I think it is important to have a back up unit. Or at least two vapes with different qualities such as a good desktop unit and then a decent portable for your needs.

But I wouldn't worry to much. Most of the vapes you are considering or that have being recommended are top end vapes. They will all do you justice in their own right I'm sure.
The cheapest I tried and like finally is the LOTUS.

The SOLO is super easy for me!

The MIGHTY I have been looking at however it seems kind of spendy to me?

Some love the MFLB however I hated all the batteries that filled my pockets if you have a purse you could store a few batteries? I had 12 and gave it away however that's not to say it's not a good vaporizer. Just not for me.

I had a few other's however I don't want to throw them under a BUS.

Matter of what works in your case?

I'm borrowing a friends Lotus at the moment it's a great device!

I've decided i'm going to buy a VapCap to tide me over, whilst I spend some more time deliberating over more expensive vaporizers.

After reading through DynaVaps website i'm sold on it :D.

The only materials are stainless steel and glass, can't get much cleaner than that. Super small and discrete. Comes apart, super easy to clean; you can even put it in the dishwasher. And I really like the fact that it clicks when you're up to temperature, really minimizes the chance for combustion.

As for which digital vaporizer I'm going to buy, I'll mull it over once my VapCap arrives. But it'll probably either the Firefly, Haze V3, or the Crafty.

If you like the look of the VapCap, check out the vapman. More durable long term, it's available now and I'm pretty sure the website has a decent break down of materials used. Not a glass air path, but it is a clean one. Can also teach you torch vapes while waiting for the VapCap.
Many of the electric vapes you mentioned are much more expensive, for someone who wants to buy try and play, the VM will probably see you much use after your collection grows, for the price of it I doubt it would be a bad purchase at all!

http://www.vapman.com/en/product_description#description

It also seems to be a lot of peoples number one choice for concentrates.

Just wanted to let you all know that I've made my choices!! After much deliberation and research I have bought:

  • Haze V3 (Black Stealth) - Main Vape
  • DynaVap's VapCap - Backup
Both companies have had excellent communication, replying to any questions I've asked with haste.

And I'm happy that both of these vaporizers are made from materials, and have air paths, free from potential off-gassing as far as I am aware :).

Thank you all for all of your help! I will leave a review of each here once they have both arrived!

This one's easy. Ubie hands down:
http://americansmokeless.com/about.htm

Nothing but glass........and what you put in it.

OF
...............................................................
Looking at the Ubie site, they recommend holding flame in front of it, not under the glass.
Here's what they say:

"How the Ubie works:
The Ubie operates easily. Warm air above the flame (which is CO2 and H2O) is drawn through the tip and through the tobacco. The flow of warmth through the diffusion tip automatically prevents burning."

So you inhale CO2, so I would not call the Ubie healthy

EDIT rude boy, from health info on CO2:
"At high levels, the carbon dioxide itself can cause headache, dizziness, nausea and other symptoms.'

But I have no idea if a lighter flame produces "high levels" ???

If you breathe air you inhale CO2 with every breath you take then you expel it when you breathe out ... someone sitting next to you will exhale more CO2 then a butane lighter flame will ever produce.

Yeah, but they aren't as up on this as our very on Vitolo who pioneered direct heating (conduction over convection)....... In either case, the issue was "No off-gassing", right. Glass doesn't off-gas at all (good for high vacuum), unlike plastics, rubbers, wood and other stuff involved in other vapes. No materials to fear in Ubie......absent burns, cutting yourself on a broken one, or swallowing part of it or something (or getting caught) no risks I can see.

Have you ever tried one? I find Vitolo's technique superior, FWIW. Fun, but not all that practical.

Butane flames themselves aren't an off-gassing problem until you start melting the lighter?

No, lighter flames don't produce CO2 levels of concern (unless you put a plastic bag over your head or something in which case you've got other problems that need work?).
