YES, Its a very good idea to clean all new tools before using them.
When you buy new dishes or silverware, dont you wash it thoroughly before using it? Same thing applies to any 'medical devices'
Just as important is washing and rinsing is letting it air dry completely before closing it.

Oh man I have been a fan of Space Case since I started. I'm a fan of common sense. After observing them up close before purchase helps. I KNEW that this was the real thing base on yet another 6 to 12 hour surfing of the internets to trust Gratefulbuys.com for my purchase. Yes I would give it a good scrub with iso 91% and a tooth brush with long bristles just to be safe. After cleaning and reaping the rewards of 4 years of uncleaned goodness this morning. I found that my grinder was brilliantly clean and grinding the stock I have now. ..it just obliterates it within a few turns. No sticks or gum-ups everything smoothly comes out ready for the wand.
Its funny I relate grinders to this, I am a metal head. When women get implants they usually wish they gotten bigger breasts. In this case you got a small SC. After a while you will wish you had "upgraded" or waited another payday to get the large. Simply indestructible and now after it's first clean I've fallen in love with it all over again. So you see the moral here Dude? Get the Larger size first off, over compensate some. You'll thank your self later. After they have broken in it will be your one and only(s). My lady went the road well traveled and we are both happy with both our decisions. On the grinder and her "upgrade".
It does boil down to consumption. My lady and I would share an z for a month so it was bought bulk. Due to our president and his great economy we cut back to half z. If you just are the occasional and are always on the run, smaller and compact is for you. I'm a home body. Larger suited me. It would take an Z straight ground up in seconds after getting the obviously retarded large stems thrown in for weight compensation for them.
Plus when you become a reclaimer with a larger grinder you will yield a higher amount of goodies when you QGWISO.

Its funny you bring up washing newly silverware/plates. I would do the same with veggies. You really think there is a sanitary bathroom out in the middle of a veggie field? So I wash all my produce after I applied the logic to that scenario.
But be sure not to wash with water! Only a iso wash and dry. Water will over time stain due to the impurities in the water. Plus water and any kind of metal over time is not a good mixture. Seriously the iso wash just brought the karma luster back in it.

Not sure if the part about going for bigger as opposed to the small was directed to me, but if so, i hear ya...I already have a nice sharpstone 3pc for grinding larger quantities. The small SC was strictly to go with the LB for size and portability reasons.
And I plan on an iso rinse when i get it....picked up some 90% earlier this eve...
Thanks for the advice, and I know what its like to reap the slightly underestimated rewards of a grinder! Had one that I used to use all the time that got packed away, and it was caked! I cleaned it by hand and got sooo much kief!
NYCdiesel-> I agree on the deal from vapeworld...the MfLB kit they list includes a 3 piece acrylic grinder iirc, so to swap for the SC for only 9 bucks over retail was a steal!

I'd highly recommend not using that word or any word like it. You very well could be offending a whole lot of people and I'd appreciate it if you didn't use it. If that's how you talk around your friends, whatever, but please don't use stupid racial slurs on a forum dedicated to educating users.
edit: 'b' is right next to the 'n' key. as an after-thought I am assuming it was just a typo. Either way, though, try to be a bit more careful and perhaps proof-read your posts as something like this could cause a problem.

washing a grinder with soap and water is fine. i do it often. look at all the "going green" water bottles they are making, made from aluminum. just make sure you DO NOT use a soap that contains bleach, as that could harm aluminum. dawn dish soap works great. if you don't care about reclaim, or if there really isn't much to reclaim dish soap and warm water is a good alternative to clean your grinder.

speaking or peace my grinder after cleaning it is just a perfect work horse. Nothing is "clinging" to it. All comes out nice. I do see what your talking about getting a finer grind with the small vs. the SC. I don't get that finer grind than that of acrylic. Did make me think of getting one when I ordered my DBV. Most ebay sellers will offer a "free" grinder with purchase. Most appealing is the nuclear neon colored ones. Then I thought about reclamation with iso on acrylic is a bad idea. I did at one point get a finer grind (somewhere halfway through the 4 year sabbatical of not cleaning the SC) all the herb would rip its self to shreds in my gummy grinder. Helped out I guess. That is as well a factor in the exact science of grinding herbs to a correct consistency. When I stock up I pick out the stems and seeds if any (hey...times are tuff. Mids are the route) and continue to grind the entire half z or z (if I wanted more for shits and giggles) all at the same time. All the herb itself rubbing and grinding helps the process. Smaller grinders obviously by comparison have less "face" area to grind. So using smaller amounts yields same results.
I'm off to the hooka bar to grab a new base for my tube so I can get water piped vape hits.

For years now I've been using alcohol to clean, then rinsing with water. I dry immediately (floor vent or hair dryer) and have never had a problem with staining, on any number of grinders. As for impurities, water varies. We currently have hard water, which produces spots, but quick drying does the trick.TheDudeAbides said:
How so? Without qualifying that as to the type of water (hard/soft, alkaline/acid), and the type of metal, I'd have to disagree. Certainly aircraft grade aluminum isn't going to suffer much from water that's fit to drink, especially if it's not wet long.

Its a SC... it holds up. Why is everyone thinking its gross? Or that I'm negligent about keeping my gear up to par.

Hi everyone. First post here. I had few questions for people who owns a SC scout or any other 1.5" grinder. I was looking at getting the 4 piece SC scout w/ sifter for traveling with my MFLB. I have a 2.5" 4 piece for home use.
First off. Do you guys use it? Or is it just collecting dust? Does a grinder of this size work good or am I better off gettting the Small 4 piece SC?

First off good choice on selecting the SC. With a small satchel your MFLB and scout would be a nice duo. When I was combusting I had a ryot case that carried my large grinder(I know stupid) bowl, pipe cleaners,screens, poker,brush(for the grinder),extra lighter, etc. When ever I was going somewhere that needed some medical assistance I carried my pouch. Everything was quite compact. I would like to own a scout just for my Top shelf stock. But I have my one and only that takes care of everything for me.
I know your looking for a size that would suit your needs but at least get one size bigger that what YOU are expecting. Again...I use the breast implant example...You'll always wish you went a little bigger/next size up.
AGAIN go with any SC...you won"t be disappointed.

the threads are pretty smooth. it has a nice finish that resists scratchs. it comes completely apart like a mix n ball. only thing i don't like about it is that i wouldn't recommend the freezer/coin trick because of the magnet on the inside that keeps the screen in place. unsure of how the magnet would hold up to this.

That doesn't look the same as the one you had. I bought one actually, and it isn't as good quality as the original, but I think the placement of the outer ring grooves is good. I still preferred by original CC though. I do agree it's not really a tech improvement.
