Puffco wax pen

Jaw

Member
Don't be hyped by the flashy look of the pen and the High times rating. I bought both the Dr. Dabber and the Puffco. I really thought I was going to love the Puffco. But then the battery broke in less than 2 days on the Puffco and the battery also broke on the Dr. Dabber in a few days. When you have to deal with the company, THEN you will know which pen you love. Dr. Dabber has a phone number to call on top of an email address. I was responded to by email and by a phone call in less than a few hours by Dan from Dr. Dabber. Not one excuse was given. He apologized said it was a known issue and they are working out the kinks and it wouldn't be happening again. They would send me out a new one and no need to return the broken one. That was a Thursday. I received a tracking number the next morning by email and received my new battery that Monday!!! Now that customer service was worth every penny I spent on the pen and accessories.
Now in comparison Puffco was emailed 3 times in a week with photos and info detailing the proof of the defect (just like I sent to Dr. Dabber) with no response. Except an automated response with a ticket number. I searched their website for 20 minutes looking for a phone number. WTF?!! There is no number. That can't be possible.... I search the web and the blogs, There is no number to be found. That should've been mine and EVERYONE's clue that this company does not back their product. Nothing says more about ones product than not wanting to hear from your dissatisfied customers. After a week of no real response to the emails I decided to created an account with instagram something I never wanted to do, just so I can post a comment for help. And what do you know they respond within 30mins. How tacky is that?! But do you think I got help from that, no I didn't. They said they would contact me and they did, but it was full of excuses, they wanted me to be more inconvenienced not them for a faulty product and they would not give a refund and I never got a new battery. I bought the product the beginning of Sept. I have many devices... and never had a problem with any company. And yes there has been faulty pieces with a few companies over the years. But all were handled in less than a week. To get additional help and for a faster response to my emails that were taking them 4-8 days to respond and to let others know, they deleted my instagram account 2-3 weeks later telling everyone that I was spam that my acct was created that day and they were removing me. This was a lie and I have proof they lied, cause I have proof when the account was created. This did not sway me I simply created other accts so I could warn others. Giving my email address so people can see the proof of their lies and how they handle costumers.I also have proof of their horrible responses, that no self respecting enthusiast with so many choices out there would tolerate from a company like this. I'm pleased to have responded and swayed a couple of dozen of people away from this product. Now I have passed the torch to my niece and nephew to get the word out. I even wrote the CEO who sent out an email apologizing for late mailing of devices due to their move, with an ending lie of please contact me at this email and you will get a response. I emailed him and several people of his team and not one response to the letter I wrote. This company is NOT respectful of their clientele or their product. Again, nothing will let you know faster that you chose the wrong product when you actually have a problem and need to reach out and deal with a company that doesn't care enough about you being heard that they don't even have a phone number, can and will ignore your emails as well as delete your efforts to reach out to them and fellow enthusiast through the only way to get their attention is blogs. And for those of you that are clearly PR people for their company on blogs stating you had several problems and they were all resolved by email quickly... lucky for you, but I claim "bullsh*t". There is enough info letting people know now that there are plenty of people who are getting screwed by this company. I'm no kid so I just threw my pen out. I have plenty of others and there are more to come in the future, dealing with a dishonest company taking advantage of mostly kids who probably don't care how their being treated or whatever, but for my seriously spending lifestyle I will never by anything from this company ever again, with a phone number or not. On top of the High Five's list or not. No product is MORE important than good customer service. I learned a great lesson when doing my research in the future, I will wait and see how people vocalize their customer service experience when things go wrong. Not all the marketing blogs and the reviews from people who have had it a day or a week and are just happy with their new shiny toy. Oh and no phone number shouldn't been my first line of research. My bad... but I did learn! I'm writing here because this site has been my life savor in the past for much needed and valued info on various products I have bought or was interested in buying. I'm hoping to return the favor. Good luck with your experiences....

My Puffco worked great for three days, then started leaking onto the battery and producing very weak hits :/

I could be wrong but maybe it got too hot like in a car in the sun. Once it leaks out the bottom you have to clean the atomizer and start over or it will just keep leaking.
My crystal wax has sugared over some so it went in fine and I got fire hits easy peasy.

I heard back from Puffco support, apparently I overfilled it.

I find less is more. Once I go over about a bb size I get splattering and clogs.

Has anyone tried boiling the cartridge to clean it?

Honestly I just care about the atomizer. If I have a batt prob. like described above I will just go to an estick or other battery.
So what is green the equivalent of on a VV battery? Seems plenty hot enough.

Yes I enjoy the light tasty hits. I ramp it up to 10-12 for massive clouds. My only complaint with the puffco battery is that it needs 1 more setting cooler than green

Got my battery charging.
How much should I load on this coil? Like at least 0.3? Do I want to get it all on top of the coil?
I have some crystal type stuff I was hoping to put in but I am worried it will get stuck more on the sides or will the whole thing just boil down anyway.
Like the feel so far.
fwiw you should try and absolutely get your wax etc right over the top of the wick only. It works great though

I think this may be happening to me. I have been getting clogged hits after just cleaning everything but the coil part to perfection. What else do I need to clean? Is it getting clogged from the coil part? I should probably just buy a few more coils

After talking to customer support I started using much smaller loads, about the size of two BBs. This has eliminated clogging for me.

Most of these type have an air path below the coil. Once it drips into it then air can't pass the coil so clean the atty.
I haven't cleaned one yet so I don't know if a 91% alcohol soak is safe for the atty but that is what i use on every other type.

ISO should be fine to clean the atty with since no glue or cotton is used. Just make sure to let it fully dry before using.

I personally use the stovetop method. Super quick and easy. All the bad oil just drips right out. I like to let heat and gravity do the work

Don't load too much in this thing!!!
Less is more in this case.

If you fill the chamber up (and its a big ass fucking chamber) then expect bubbling, popping, splashing, and oil all over the walls inside the atomizer.

Its works awesome when you pulse your wax/shatter/butter/oil so that it pools around the coil. Gives off a good couple of dabs. No bad taste so far.

I totally agree. Even though puffco has a huge chamber, I find all these atomizers to work better if you pulse your concentrate directly on the coil.

so what is the oven method that is recommended? Upside down on what for how long and at what temp? 250 F?

Cleaned atomizer in oven upside down at 215 F and dripped onto foil. Worked great and seems same as that stovetop method shown in the sneaky pete vid.

I've had the puffco for two months now and I'm still quite pleased with it. I haven't tried it with oil, but the puffco handles both wax and shatter beautifully. I find the taste to be quite good and the vapor cool enough that you don't always realize how big a hit you've taken! I really like the fact that it has 3 temperature settings. Most of the time, the first setting (green) is enough. Occasionally, if I'm looking for a monster hit, I'll use the second (blue) setting. I don't use the highest setting (red) as it's too much for me. It can be useful in cleaning out old oil in the cartridge, but I find the "oven method" works well also. The puffco is easy to use, beautifully crafted, stealthy and sexy as hell.

As with all such devices, there are a few improvements/changes I would personally like to see. The length of your draw is limited to the "time out" feature which most of these pens have. I find it to be too short with the puffco. About 5-7 more seconds would, IMO be ideal since the puffco takes a couple of seconds to really warm up and deliver a big tasty hit...especially the first draw or two of your session or if you're vaping outside and it's cold. This is especially important for the sneaky "one and done" quick and stealthy hit. This can be improved manually by letting up on the button very briefly about 5 seconds through your draw and pressing it again. This allows more time for those of us who like big hits.

One of the best features is the HUGE cartridge. It can easily fit .2-.3g of wax or shatter. I recommend limiting the amount loaded in the cartridge to .1 gram. The puffco handles small amounts well and if you put in too much, there will be clogging, popping, and the cartridge will get a bit messy.

I find the battery life to be good. Keep in mind that I have a fairly high tolerance and am using the puffco all day, everyday; sometimes on the green setting, sometimes on the blue setting. With that usage, the battery lasts me easily throughout the whole day. The average user will find the battery lasts significantly longer. The provided USB charger works well enough. When I have it hooked up to my laptop, the battery takes about 3 hours to charge fully. Hooked up to a wall charger, I assume the charge time would be quite a bit shorter.

All in all, an excellent device. My sister and brother now both have one and they love it. I got mine for $72 (w/facebook discount) + 6 dollars for shipping.

My Pufco atomizer is still chugging along after a few months. I would also like to know how to clean the crud off the coil. I soaked it in ISO and got all the gunk off the threads, etc. but the coil has a layer of crud that didn't disolve and is affecting the taste.

Boil, maybe? What is the oven method? Has anyone successfully cleaned the coil to almost new?

I got the puffco and im not too crazy impressed it seems to vape my bho way too quick for the cloud I put out. It does hit well and the atty is nice I think I would have preferred the galaxy pen with quartz rod...

I just bought the Puffco and unless I'm using it wrong, it's a terrible waste using it with any crumble.
.2g to .3g for only 1 draw? I've read other posts about people using up to .5g to pack it and take it with them. I have no idea how that can work for them. It seems to me that the coil in the atty is too far from the floor of the chamber; so as soon as anything "melts" it goes to the bottom and the coil doesn't heat it to vaporization anymore.

I started to put a smaller amount directly on the coil, but you don't get anywhere near the same size/quality of a draw as you would from a rig setup using the same amount. Am I supposed to hold the pen sideways when taking a draw, or straight up (like I do now)? Does anyone have some tips on how to apply crumble to this pen? I'd really like to be able to change my opinion of the Puffco, so any tips on it's use would be appreciated.

Thanks

Pulse the battery when you apply the crumble at first, so it melts onto the ceramic rods. Just like 3 small 1 second taps.
Then apply more crumble on top if you want.

This atomizer really works better with less and not too much packed in there.
Of course its not a nail, lol. Its a pretty cheap and common atomizer with a fancy body designed to hold more wax. But ehhh, its an a-ight pen. I'll most likely just get a new KISS 510 thread atty later on.
