Auber Instruments RDK200 e-nail

Hey all. I am anticipating replacing my Auber coil soon. I think I saw someone mention there is a vendor who sells a coil with a slightly larger inner diameter for the flat coil so that it fits nails like the domeless.com ceramic enail out of the box. can anyone steer me in the right direction?

So i have been hesitating to settle on a enail setup, but after hearing over and over again that a person should find a nail they like then find the coil and controller to match....I was surfing the inter web and stumbled upon Liger Titanium banger V.2 with quartz or SiC insert from Concentrate Connisieur well a couple clicks and $300 later it was on its way, then I realized that i had just spent alot of money on a nail that i had no way to heat((website says can use with a torch but wouldnt dream of torch heating this expensive instrument)) So in a mild panic i quickly ordered the auber200 withthe 20mm coil.
So to recap ive spent roughly 450-500 altogether giver take express shipping almost entirely on impluse, and all this after spending numerous hours resaerching setups online trying to make an informed purchase .
Well wouldnt you know it im waiting for my packages to arrive and i start reading more about what Ive bought. AND I find out that you have to adjust the setting on the Auber based on the enail you are using..... So does anyone have any info or experience that would be helpful....im unsure if these devices are compatable and if so how compatable. How do I adjust the setting on the Auber200 for the liger banger...how does the quartz insert effect all this.. AND how do i figure out what to adjust these setting to. I have read to pdf downloadable manual but it was like alien language, someone to help simplify it for me into laymans terms

Just plug everything together, hook up your nail as long as its 20mm (you said your coil was 20mm) Turn temps to 710 and take a dab. See how you like it. Adjust temps up or down depending on what you think. No need to worry. Cool looking banger.
Do you have a Laser temperature reader gun? You need that if you want to figure out what the exact temp of the nail. Then you can go into your settings and change them to read what the nail really is. You don't Need to change the settings to make it work. Your temp readings on the controller might be off a bit but it will still work.

Thanks like you seriously made me stop and take a look at the situation from a performance and personal experience standpoint.....I was kinda starting to panic about whether my coil would be all specifically tuned to the to the exact temperature displayed but as along as its tuned well enough for my exact enjoyed temperature ill leave well enough alone til i pay off these credit cards then ill think about a goo IR thermometer or thermocouple

Hey there Auber owners.:) If your unit has trouble reaching high temps like mine did enter access code 177 and change IEg from 40 to 100. So much better.

Also, if you want your unit to reach the set temperature quicker try reducing the I value under access code 166. I reduced mine from 60 to 30 and now it acts more like the D-Nsil 1.2 unit ... overshoots by about 5 or 6 degrees but reaches set temp way quicker.

If anyone wants some help let me know

Happy Turkey Day tomorrow!

Ok so do you have any suggestion on how to adjust my 200rdk to heat my Ti banger with quartz insert.?

Well it seems to have a difficult time getting the quartz insert to the liger banger ((are you familiar with the design)) hot enough to dab ....but as i raise the coil temperature....the dish quickly abd seemingly withouyt a mean way too hot... i tried just giving the heat time to distribute evenly but i still cant find a middle ground between barely wispy vapor wiith huge waste and intaburnt

Interesting. Have you tried starting at your wispy hit temp and working your way up in 5 - 10 degree increments? Make sure to allow the dish to heat up for 5 - 10 minutes after raising temps so the heat can soak into the entire dish.

Yes this was what I initially tried....i cant explqin it but ass i go up in temperature there seems to be a point where it shifts from too cold to too hot but that margin between seems razor ....there has to be some factor im not considering...what seems to be to be the complicating component has to do with normally your coil heats your nail so the temp distribution goes from coil to nail to dab... well in this case i have the heat traveling from coil to the Ti banger from the Titanium dish to the quartz insert to the dab... I feel that the varying material and not to mention the actual design if the insert being a dual sided small cup with a varying depth on each side ((compared to dnail inserts...which are flat?)) So there is air underneath insert to consider as well...(((starting to confusing))and when one side up vs the other it not only changes size of vaporization dish it also A).raises or lowers the vaporization surface in relation to coil. And B) allows more air underneath.... anyways ive considered all this and more but have no idea how to solve this issue

I don't think your issues are with the Auber controller. Sounds like a poor design from how you"re describing the Liger but maybe @mrbonsai420 will stop by with suggestions on Liger temps/usage as he's the Liger pro around here.

Hmm...

I just did that, start of whispy and go up slowly. always seems to hit the sweet spot fairly soon. Then stop fiddling those knobs lol

Should be as simple as that?

Furthermore, one extract is not the other, so sometimes one needs to take it up or down a bit.

So a fixed sweet spot is going to be hard.

I have a liger banger myself, and can say the quartz insert makes great contact on all sides with the titanium chamber. I am unsure if the quartz insert is supposed to be used one way or the other. The fact you can use it both ways sure let's one think so. If this was not intended I am sure cca710 will fix that on their next run.

Myself I always use it cupside up, seems to give me nicer results, and prevents the oil to contact the titanium during vaping. Just my two cents...

And have you tried mailing Josh from cca710.com about this? He has been super helpful to me and had answered all my questions for now.

I did the adjust til right the set and leave alone....but as if its own accord itll start burning dabs so i lower by a lil and instantly its too cool and my dabs begin to pool..but if raise the temp at all it takes a moment but itll get to burning again

Sounds like it takes a really long time to get the Liger insert to the max temp for the given set temperature. Try setting the temperature then leaving it for 15 or 20 minutes before taking a dab. That should allow the quartz dish to soak in the heat until it's at max temp for the given set temp. Well, it should ...

I think an ir temp gun or k type thermometer would help you out big time too so you could experiment and see exactly what's happening with the dish temps.

Yes, good tip... Have patience... The heat needs tree travel past the titanium before getting to the quartz.

So what might be happening is that after taking a Dab with the quartz insert, it cools the insert and it needs a moment to get back to temp. So next Dab is airy, leading you to set temp a bit higher.

Then you try again and it is to high leading to burning of the oil?

I must say I have not noticed this so much...

Almost.....but its not a matter of doing 1 dab and havi g to wait before next...its cooling almost instantly mid dab.... I think is another possible conttibuting factor...if i draw to hard while the carb cap is in place then the vacuum causes the insert to sucked off the bottom of the Ti banger and its kind free floats inside the dish under the cap..... at this point i think the quartz is no longer making consistent contact with the Ti as well as being rapidly coold by the air rushing around the insert

I would write the owner about all the issues you're having. Doesn't sound like a refined $300 nail to me. You could own a D-Nail SiC halo, quartz halo, slim series base and sapphire insert for cheaper.

Well, I am sure these issues will be addressed, as soon as they get aware of it.

And 300dollar, probably, but that would be with the storm carb cap, and the quartz and SiC insert as well, and I am sure there are more good companies out there that do appreciate their customers and will do anything to keep them happy.

No need to be so negative about a product that you do not even own. And we all know the d-nail stuff is good too, but no need to keep repeating that over and over. A member bought this nail and is asking for help, not how to spend another pile of money... Just my two cents

And I own one of the liger bangers v2.0 I cannot be happier with it. And yes, there is always room for improvement. But I am sure Josh will remember his first customers and will go out of his way to keep them happy.

So Josh actually was aware of these issues... or the design flaw and has already begun implicating a rather simple (( but clever in its simplicity)) improvement/fix that changes almost nothing. Hes slightly shortened the larger cup side to the insert so that has clearance to thread in above insert which effectively locks the insert into place inside the Ti dish....but ai still feel like the rdk200 unit is struggling to maintain temp.....and advise on what could help ....new coil maybe incased?

I was simply throwing out there that if he was able to get a refund he could buy the entire flat coil line from D-Nail. Just trying to help.

@Gonzo_da_wind does the display say that your coil is resting at the set temperature or below it? If it says the actual temperature is lower than the set temp I can help you out with some rdk tuning.

Even were Josh were to offer a full refund i would blink twice before politely refusing......I will admit to buying this e/nail rather quickly without thoroughly doing my homework on it.
But I had done my homework on just about all the nail/coil setups and had found most stuck to the old basic torch domelless Ti style....which was a great improvement over the old set up with the seperate glass dome but had lots of room for design improvements....but for some reason has been improved or altered very little and has become the standard in nail concepts even when one looks at nails designed for coil heating .

The set temperature seem fine below 700f around there the coil seems to start to fall to reach the set temp...on average its will stop 75f short of set temperature

Try this ... with the unit on hold the knob down for 5 seconds until LCK (lock) pops up in the coil temperature display. Then scroll to 177 on the set temperature display and click the knob. PEG will show up in the coil temperature display box. Click the knob once and IEG will show up in the coil temperature display box. Change this IEG value from 40 to 100 then click the knob and you should be all set.

Edit: D-Nail went through an array of barrel coil style domeless nails before moving to this new flat coil line. The halo setups look similar to the old domeless nails but they're actually a pretty new design in that the coil is in contact with most of the bottom of the dish keeping temps as level as possible when doing large dabs and getting the dish up to temp quickly.
