Filing glass ??

What works for filing down a glass piece that's easily accessible and cheap?

Like on a glass adapter that I want to shave down the edge a little bit, give it a couple flat edges instead of being round?

Is there something like a fine diamond dust file???

I've used wet /dry carbide sandpaper to make some mods on my Ascent glass straw.

I've used th same technique as @Hubs88 when playing with glass a long time ago.

I forget what attachment I used with my dremel, but I did use one ...
What was that thing they say about pot and memory .

Just make sure you use some water/lubricants, Safety Goggles and be sure to cover up your mouth and nose.

Hell, break out the HazMat suit ...

Sandpaper has been my trusty accomplice for tasks of such magnitude in the past. In fact, I would often use the grip tape from my skateboards to gently grind down ruff edges and smooth out glass surfaces

This! I use wet/dry (usually 4-800 grit) for steel and glass fairly often; using it wet captures the majority of particulates created by the abrasion, reducing the risk of aerating little shards of death

plus- it's friggin precise!

In use a diamond disc in my Dremel style tool.
Cuts, sands all glass.
Then I use a torch to smooth the edges.

The only thing missing ^^^ is eye protection. Breathing in wee shards of glass may not seem like fun - try some in the eye. I sent a guy to the base hospital once, as he had a red spot on his eye that seemed to be getting larger. It was a teeny piece of metal from sharpening drill bits. The reason it seemed to be getting larger was because it was rusting... ewww...

Many folks, myself included, have successfully used emory cloth on chipped wine glasses.

The other day my brother used an angle grinder to grind down a nano stem which had cracked.

He used a disk which was intended for sanding soft stone. About 120 grit, apparently. It took a little while but the results are good (fixed a totally unusable stem) and he said if it is too coarse it is likely to cause the glass to crack or chip.

It took about 10 mins to grind about an inch off the stem.
