DDave Mod for SSV/ DBV/ LSV

So with this mod does the DBV perform more like a log?
I've gotta take a guess at what parameters you're asking about, but it should raise efficiency and make single hit extractions possible.

I am a little confused about where the screen is placed in the wand. Does the basket screen sit inside the wand like the stock wand/screen or does the stainless rim of the screen sit atop of the rim on the new wand?
The basket screens are inserted in the tip of the wand, SS rim sits atop the glass rim.

Thanks for the explanation Dave.

For those comparing this to a log vape - I use my DBV exactly like a log and it will rock your world :whoa:. It's very much a super powered log vape when you pick it and direct draw through the wand without the whip.

Ordering an LSV this weekend to accompany my log Nano and am super stoked for this new mod! Gives me more reason to order the LSV....as a possible stronger Nano! (although I find that hard to believe, I love my wood) ;)
Excited for some LSV mod reviews!

LSV mod in progress. While the simpler kit will work for LSV, I have something much more in mind for the LSV due to its flexibility. Work in progress... Stay tuned.

Hey guys...just thought I would chime in here. My SSV is spherical so @DDave doesn't have anything for my setup to use...so I made my own based on his design. If you're wondering if it works, it does! My biggest complaint about the SSV over the years has been how I can't stop myself from using it in weed-hog mode. When I had my first one I bought the VaporBrothers mini-wand and it worked well with the SSV with smaller loads. But this mod here is on a different level. I'm still getting big ass hits, just not as many and my sessions finish much quicker. Sessions are effective and doseable. I literally can't load more than 1/3 of what I use in the normal wand setup. If you've got a vape that Ddave has a mod for, I recommend it!

tl:dr -- ddave's mods work! Get the one you need for your vape!

:cool: More fine tuning/observations;

My ssv rig is now sick; it's more precise and just as powerful now as my versa infinity
(I really need to make that rig more efficient/precise now, ftw!)

I really like that I have a new favorite glass piece for my ssv, my old combustion bong

If you have both the 7th floor wand and an arizer(?) wand on hand, the basket screen will be squeezed tighter in @DDave's wand so it would have to be stretched back out to stay put in the 7th floor wand. I don't know exactly what screens these are, but they are a huge part of why this system works so well.

Also @DDave's hose/tubing is comparable to 7thfloor's, which is a compliment. Same flex and tackiness, a little more translucent (white tinted) than transparent compared to 7th floor's.

Another point; I do think this mod will work better with the ssv than the dbv, because the ssv's angle becomes even more important with the load exposed on the very end of the wand.

But there may be something in the works just for the dbv, gotta check with the mothership on that one ;)

Sometimes the most subtle adjustments can make a huge difference. This is the first time that the ssv has competed with my versa infinity, which is huge. I'm kinda regretting selling that 2nd ssv now!

Might pull the trigger on the kit for my LSV.. Would be nice to have a whip vape again

I just ordered the SSV kit but wonder why the same effect can't be achieved with the 7th floor gg wands....is this increased efficiency just a function of the distance between heating element and herb? Wouldn't the effects be the same whether you operate at a lower temperature but short distance from the heater versus a high temp and greater distance from the heater?

I've tried this a few times, incidentally/anecdotally, when I've had a small amount of herb left in my grinder and by slightly increasing the temperature, seems to work fine. That said, I'm excited to try this out! I'll report back when I receive and test it out, sometime next week.

The wands and basket screens in my kits have different internal dimensions than Arizer's. I experimented with many different combinations until discovering a combination that I found extracted efficiently and evenly.

Other parameters come into play, other than just the heat factor. If it were only about upping the heat, the original DDave adapter for the EQ wouldn't have had such an impact in the unit's performance, as one could have just turned up the heat using the original cyclone bowl.

Am working on an update to mods for the 7th floor vapes that will tweak more of these session parameters and take these changes to the extreme.

Yes. I had an unusually deep SSV standard wand which prevented thorough extraction of the load - due to the distance between heater and load. I found that increasing the heat never overcame this issue. After years of this, I finally sourced a local SSV Standard Shorty Wand which brings the material much closer to the heat and my performance and extraction is much improved. So, this distance / gap is key.

I'd love to try this mod, but am too cheap to pony up for the switch to GG (especially, the steep 7th Floor Intl shipping).

the wand kit came in on Sat, I had time to evaluate it on Sunday. This is indeed great, worth every penny!

I haven't done a side-by-side with the GG wand that 7th Floor sells, but evaluating its performance on its own has me quite satisfied. The most appealing aspect is indeed being able to load a very small amount and get excellent extraction in 1-2 pulls. I get the full flavor experience without compromising it (i.e. by drawing from a partially vaped load which, for me, inevitably has a poor/undesirable flavor) and I get a nice full dose.

I've certainly been able to have vape sessions with the 7th floor GG wand but DDave's wand and basket are a great asset and help remind me that a little goes a long way. I'm very glad I picked this up, highly recommended to any SSV user!

Well damn...not only did I miss the Black Friday sale, but now it looks like the mod is sold out. When you snooze, you lose....

@DDave I'm hopeful you will be making some more and that you will also have a Christmas sale in the very near future so I can pick one up. Don't plan to miss out next time.
