The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

I store my (I think) pretty dry weed in ziplock bags, inside a large plastic bin. There's a few ounces in there at a time. How would you dry out the weed more?

When I get a new batch, which I pick up 1oz. at a time, I empty the weed into a glass jar with 4-6 10g silica packs. The packs are available on Amazon for a few bucks, and can dry an ounce completely within 24 hours. Works great and is so much faster than trying to re-cure moist bud.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
A good after market option for a thick elbow that is very hard to damage is from @Oregonglassblower , they can be found in the glass thread on this forum. I got this years ago and it is still with me. You will see in the pic stock elbow on bottom going to my bubbler and the ogb elbow attached to the Eq , it is much thicker option and works very well.
DDDA8328-42F1-437B-9E4C-7CF08F7CF9CF_zpsk3s4hpay.jpg

I wanted to see a size comparison for one of those elbows from @Oregonglassblower since I first had the EQ. Like their design. If I break my last elbow, I'm going to them. Would you say there is a lot of space inside the corner area? If I were to use an elbow, I try to go for less restriction. Would you say it own holds it's own heat well?

After much seasonal delay from USPS, I finally got my replacement. It is small piece, but with thick glass. The height of the chamber being about 3 1/2 inches.
On the Female dropdown end, I have a small length of hose with a 18mm F/F attached.

Well not exactly a normal 18mm F/F. :shrug:Earlier I actually had a broken EQ elbow made into an stock 18mm fitting. That was an O.K. project. Just ground off the weak broken part to the tube/wall area with a cheap sharpening stone. Now you have a connector to attach to your hose to an 18mn female. All good right? However I placed it in my F/F bowl which had a generic 18mm fitting. Doh! Well, They somehow fused together and refuse to separate.:\ So now 'it' is a wand end with an 18mm fitting. :D The hose grips the inside wall of the broken EQ end, quite nicely. As for the adapter end. It is fused to the inside the F/F and refuses to come apart. So no worries there.

So, now with that special fitting, I can attach a dry bong with it's own 18mm fitting into the 'wand' end, collect and steamroll my vapor. Or simply take direct draws from the 'wand'. Even with it's small size, I do feel like I'm drawing from a thick glass piece more than the one I broke earlier. R.I.P. my 1st vapor water tool. :rip: Hello my new friend and welcome to CFRLB.:science:

I would worry about drawing moisture out to quick like that. Quick, force drying can rupture the cell walls, having a negative effect on smell and flavour.

I know this is true for curing, as for weed that has been fully cured then rehydrated, I'm not 100% sure, but I'd assume the same applies to be on the safe side.

I'm sure your oz will last you more than a couple of days, so why not just slow dry it over a week by burping the jar it's in?

If you use silica packs to draw the moisture from uncured bud you will greatly decrease the quality of the weed. However, when using silica packs to fully dry already cured bud, I have not noticed any significant effect on the quality. Also, I store my bud at my parents' house and can't be there all the time to burp the jar, so the efficiency of the silica packs is important to me.

Just my $0.02.

I have not noticed any restriction at all or a problem with it holding heat. I think it may even hold heat better than the stock elbow. I like the round looking part also that looks like a glass ball. i cane asly see vapor in there coming through when inhaling. It is allot thicker than stock and will not be damaged as easy if dropped or tapped. I am not sure on measurements but i can try and take a picture of a stock elbow next to it this week for you when i have a chance. I will def say it is better and thicker than most elbows you can just go purchase online from other companies. These are hand blown so i am also unsure if every one that is made would be exact. 0 restriction when using this elbow. I also would highly recommend my bubbler pictured but the company has gone out of business and they cannot be found anymore. They were a big hit on the forum , who knows maybe one can be found. They are called the imfamous glass bubbler by pipes daddy .

Sorry for the double post , was not sure how to combine them if the Mod's can help out. Anyway i grabbed a knockoff Hydratube recently to try with a few portables and the Eq. The Ht is not perfect but it works. The welds are not the greatest and the perc is not perfect but it does the job. I 1st tried it with the Eq last night and had a nice session. I may not be using it with the eq much longer as i am afraid it puts to much stress on the heater as in pressure when using and i am in fear that i can crack the heater when hitting it as i lean over and apply pressure. So i may grab another piece i can attach the Ht to.

That's something to consider, more so if you are using a pattern part heater cover as I have found these to be weaker than the OEM part.

I just can't bring myself to put water above electric yet. And definately not water held in any cheap Chinese vessels.
I need a backup eq so I can be risky.

Ehh the Eq was not so expensive and after owning it several years i feel i already more than got my moneys worth so i am not to worried putting water above it. Plus i shook the heck out of it before hand to make sure no water was going where it is not supposed to. What is a pattern part heater cover ? Would that be something made by the thousands in a machine off 1 mold ? is there a upgrade for the eq's to make it stronger ?

Fair enough. My eq is 2 months old and I love it very much still. I have had the heater assembly apart many times to perfect the internal setup. My eq heater was never central. This annoyed my ocd side. Then I dripped concentrate on the heater so decides to pull it apart. I ordered a replacement but not from arizer. It looked of lower quality with more imperfections in the glass and was slightly lighter. Meaning thinner. Meaning weaker. I have since broken this replacement applying fuck all pressure. Iv stripped and rebuilt it with the standard part countless times. But tried to fit the pattern part once and it broke. Back to stock.

Iv since ordered another heater cover from the same place, to check it wasn't a one off, and it too was of low quality. This one actually has a hair in the glass.
These are ordered from a reputable uk company.

I do the same with 62% packs.

After 2016 elections full legalization will happen.
$40/OZ will be standard.

The "Q" will have plenty of fuel!

If you have ordered a D020 bubbler you may already have the part you need!
The M/M adaptor will fit better than the original EQ heater cover and is much stronger.

This setup does slightly increase the distance from the heater. Don't believe it chages the temperature much though:

Has anyone seen/tried the 'New'(not sure how long they've been up), 'all glass mini whip' for balloons now being sold by Arizer..http://arizer.com/store/en/arizer-parts/91-all-glass-mini-whip-set.html I'm a little confused though, the set includes an angled Gong tube, and a Gong mouthpiece for 'already tied balloons', but next to the only balloons they sell it says "for original whip only"....so where do you get balloons for the glass whip:shrug:.......also it specifies the glass whip as "for balloons only", when it looks like it would work for direct draw well too.......

I've tried this. See review below.

So, I'm brand new to this forum, but I thought I had somethings to contribute. I've been using the Arizer EQ, totally stock except for the bags, for almost two years now and have for the most part really enjoyed it. Recently, however, I started reading about some of the possible upgrades and thought they sounded like something to try. I use exclusively bags, no whip, so I purchased the "all-glass mini whip" along with the the DDave upgrade and holy crap it's night and day difference. I'm using lower temps, less material, and getting better vapor! If you like the bag thing, then try the glass mini whip.

Welcome to FC and the EQ Family! Great machine, isn't it!

Glad you're enjoying the kit! Have fun and thanks for contributing feedback on bags & mini-whip!

@StellaBlu72, welcome to fc.

Do you mind if I ask why you have only used bags for 2 years? I personally find the whip (with some mods) to be far superior.

I guess I should have prefaced my post with some info, sorry for any confusion. I've been using a vaporizer for more than 15 years. I used to use a plain water pipe with a special slide piece called a VRip, along with an adjustable heat gun to facilitate vaporization. It worked pretty good for a long time, but then the water pipe got broken and my heat gun was seriously on its last leg so I decided to upgrade. I really wanted a Volcano or an Verbalizer, but didn't want to blow holes in $700 plus. Price being my main factor I liked the multiple options, whip and balloon/bag of the Arizer EQ. That was like two, maybe a little more, years ago. Fast forward to basically today and I've learned a lot about the Arizer. No, I did not really like the whip, although at the time I did not know of any upgrades. It was clunky and I didn't like how it hit. Yes, the elbow seriously added time to filling bags, despite its fast warm up time, but, I did get two or three bags with nice vapor. So I decided on the bag route, just my pref. I've used the SSV with its silicon whip and really liked that one, but I got the Arizer and am not a millionaire so that's what I'm going to stick with.
I can't stress enough how much better my EQ works with the "All-glass mini whip," http://arizer.com/store/en/arizer-parts/91-all-glass-mini-whip-set.html along with DDave's 18mm to 18mm f/f adapter, http://californiasea.com/shop/vaporizers/desktop/arizer-eq/ddave-mod-kit/ my Arizer EQ totally is a new experience. Better vapor, way more concentrated, better efficiency, lower temps, faster fill times, the list goes on and on. The only thing I guess I can say could be better, is the glass quality. I feel like the glass could be a bit tougher, more like pyrex glass, a little more impact resistance. Otherwise, it works great!

My eq seems to be dropping itself in temp somehow, is it some sort of fail safe?
There is no temperature-limiting failsafe as far as I know. Is the set temperature decreasing, or the real time temp only? If the set temperature is going down without any input from the user, maybe the down button on your EQ (or remote) is stuck.

Nice tip. Thx!

What, are you joking. Can anyone buy an oz for 40 dollars
Not that I know of. Where I am in California, you can get top-shelf for $100/oz or regular stuff for $70/oz, if you buy a couple of ounces at a time. Sometimes there are better deals, but this is pretty much what I normally get it for.

I hope what ataxion was saying about $40 oz's becoming the new normal after 2016 elections is true, though.:cool:

No fail safe that I can think of either, but I too, have also had the temp fluctuate. But on mine it always goes up by anywhere between 10°-20°. I typically jog the temperature down a degree or two while I start filling a bag, then it returns back to what I have it set to. It's been like this as long as I can remember.
I think this is really the big difference between the Arizer and the Volcano or Herbalizer. The more expensive units have much more precise temperature control. The Arizer, in my experience, has a tendency to wander.
