Volta: Battery-Powered Portable by VaporGenie

I don't have the mica in my volta and have a pretty scorched chamber now. It seems really more cosmetic then a real performance/taste problem as I see it and once I put the herb in the chamber and cover it with the wooden door I don't even know it's scorched/stained. I Can't see it, can't taste it so all is good for me.

I saw this thing and I'm really curious. Does it really operate off of one battery terminal? That should be impossible as far as I know.

I'm convinced that the battery casing serves as some type of return ground but would really like this cleared up by someone who knows. It's killing me!

Thanks.

It has two contacts.
You Have it right on that the Battery isn't wrapped in plastic so the whole casing serves as the negative pole, there is a metal bracket on the Volta that serves as the negative contact the switch plate is the positive contact.

Can the 18650 battery from the Arizer Air be used in the Volta without damage?

How about the Sony US18650VTC4 2100mAh 30A 3.7V battery?
I have a couple of these in my desk.
Thanks,
-Nick

they're Li-ion and the volta uses a LiFe-PO4 battery so I don't believe it's a good idea, that's more of a guess then fact though I know in some other applications you wouldn't want switch one for the other and the volta treats 'em pretty rough and they can get really hot in order to work.

:peace:

Edit; in the manual for the volta on the VG website it says;
Do Not Use a Li-ion Battery. A lithium Ion battery can leak or explode if Used in the Volta.

So now my answer is No don't use your batteries in the Volta.

Thanks @RUDE BOY ... I knew that the Vapor Genie site says to not use Li-ion batteries .... but did not know the chemistry of the Air or Sony 18650 batteries. I will take your word as fact that both of the batteries that I asked about are in fact Li-ion batteries ... and and so I won't order the Volta.

In fact, I didn't even know that batteries with the same type designator could be of different chemistries.

To be honest I never knew there was a difference until the volta came around and people here on FC somewhere were talking battery talk.

You do get a pretty decent amount of vaping time with the two batteries that come with it, two extra can come in handy though and they are $10 a pair which isn't too steep a price these days.

Don't want to give anyone any ideas but..............
That's pretty awesome. Permanent marker or paint? I just got a volta vape and it's pretty awesome. I owned an aluminum pipe back in the day and I like this a whole lot more. I didn't even know I had an account here but apparently I do lol. So I was curious......is it me or are the reviews on the site rigged? I wrote a review like a week ago and it hasn't shown up. I think this is an awesome vape either way. Just wondering if anyone else has posted reviews on the site that hasn't shown up?

Its been Charred and oiled , still use mine a few times a week still and its been to amsterdam with me ,its a solid vapour producer that can get abv very dark quick.
Not to sure about the reviews being rigged as i dont remember if i tried leaving one had this for a while now and would prob get another if it broke :)

This one lives on my bedside unit so if i need it through the night i don't have to faff around with butane or heat up times i can have a few hits and go back to sleep :peace:

What site are you talking about? There is no trace of a review post from you on FC.

pakalolo,
Yeah I meant on the vapor genie site. Btw do you mind telling me how your charred it? I'd end up burning it. Lol, no idea how to do that correctly.

Been using a newer Volta(two LEDs, wood chamber cover, purple battery caps) for the last couple of months and have to say this one is a real taste machine. It seems so much easier to control the heat compared to my first gen Volta (which takes the herb to combustion very quickly) and the taste is just frickin' amazing throughout a session when compared to almost all other conduction vapes I've used.

I've yet to even lightly char never mind burn a load in my new volta.

Now that the Volta is back in regular rotation in my line up I often wonder why it doesn't get a bit more respect in the vaping community as a whole, it's a killer little tool in my opinion and one of the best vapes available for only $90 these days, plus it's American made and backed by a great company.

Peace on y'all. Just did a morning volta session and wanted to share my thoughts.

It seems strange that it gets heated along curvy walls on the edge of the vape. It's strange looking and doesn't have good reviews on youtube, also only 5 pages of a thread. I think this combination of factors made a lot of people skip this vape. That's interesting that you think it's good. Makes me curious about it. Would be nice to see a video review of an updated model.

Yeah. Would be nice to see a video showing it functioning. I'm hesitant to believe it produces lots of smoke. I seem to think it produces smoke by directly contacting the weed, instead of as I'd been led to believe the good vapes do which blow hot air onto your weed. Make me a believer. I've been wanting a taste upgrade from my flowermate v1.

@bounce5 It is a little quirky to use and looks funny but it works. I've noticed most video reviewers on the you tube like Vapefiend and others just don't use it correctly at all... kinda like they didn't even read the manual and follow how Vaporgenie shows to use it.

@thisperson you won't see any video or pics posted by me, I don't even own a digital camera of any type.
My new volta isn't a cloud machine but excels in taste and effects, my first made small clouds at the expense of taste and possible charring/burning on every hit. I do believe the Flowermates are rather poor when it comes to taste after the first hit or two so tastewise the volta beats it hand down in my opinion.

I have both convection and conduction vapes (61 and counting)and no longer believe one method of heating my herbs to vape 'em is better then the other.

Both convection and conduction can be done right or wrong, some convection vapes suck and some don't and some conduction vapes suck and some don't.

Just as there is no best Vape I don't believe there's a best style (convection or conduction) of heating my herbs to boil off the goodies. Heat is Heat.

Okay. I was hoping for an FC members video review of the unit. I trust the FC fam. And yeah the flowermate v1 sucks for flavor. lol. I'm looking to spend around 130 but don't think that's enough for a log vape. When I got a notification for this thread with your flavor post I was interested. Plus it falls in my price range. I'd only posted in this thread because of the funny look it had and a question about battery terminals. I'll go back and read testimonials in this thread.

I still use mine, big cloud machine esp through water ,if I don't get to medicated tonight I will do a little video to show what a nice little vape this is....

Mine still works like day one and batterys still going strong ,its been to dam with me ,big bowl on demand conduction which just needs shaking to stir bowl....it def better tasting than the flowermate but does have a bigger learning curve and it is possible to combust but most manual vaporizers have that risk....
I get three loads per battery but they can be big loads if needed, and I have replaced the plastic mouthpiece with a wooden one...

This vape def needs some more love as vapefiend did not use it properly, I did comment on his video saying this but I did not get a reply.......
