Discontinued The Herbalizer

I would love an Herbalizer. I have emphysema among other diseases; a forced air system would be wonderful. Unfortunately I live on a very small fixed income, and the price makes it totally impossible.

When I try to contact the company; no one ever answers the phone. You always get a machine, no matter what department you call. I have a bad feeling that they are getting ready to close their doors. I hope I'm wrong, but something isn't right when you can't get a hold of a human no matter what time of day you call.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on glass such as the Mobius Ion with the Matrix percolator (on sale for $264), they are on sale this weekend. Everything in the store is like 20% off. Check out https://jfriendly.com/ ; please tell Jon I referred you.

You too? I gave up after several unanswered emails, phone calls, and after @Engineer dropped the bomb way back that things were not going to be well for the customer (warranty, etc). Things haven't panned out exactly like he said so far, but I don't think everything is roses either, especially when they aren't dealing with Canada at all, not even for parts, warranty, service, etc. Who knows what's actually going on, but i'm keeping a watchful eye on it. It's quite the piece of technology, although I think something much better will be around the corner.

I'm a fairly light user and tend to rotate my vapes quite a bit as well. I didn't realize the Mighty/Crafty were a pain to clean. I've been casually following the threads as they interest me but I haven't felt the itch to pull the trigger......yet.

I don't find that the mighty is a pain to clean at all. The first time I cleaned it, I struggled a little and it took about an hour. I was using q tips and my old herbalizer brush. I just cleaned it yesterday after not cleaning it for over a month and using it pretty heavily. It was so dirty I couldn't get the CU apart without heating the unit up first. Using a toothbrush as is recommended on the Mighty thread and some 90% ISO, I had my Mighty spotless in 30 minutes. It really is not hard to clean. Just my :2c:

I only use the bags, 3 times a day filling 3 bags each session for a total of 9 bags.
Yes the original bags leak and fail early.
So I swapped it out with a Volcano bag from the roll S&B sells and reused the Herbie valve.
Volcano bags are a different plastic and last waaaayyyyy longer.

I'm still on the first valve and it's been over a year. Clean it up and reuse.
Now the valve opening is splitting a little on the inside but still works and no leaks.
Of course you still have to hold the valve steady as it fills.
Would be nice to be hands free.

Also the fan button should be in front and not behind the bag when you need to shut it off.
Just doesn't feel instinctive to reach behind the bag.

I just wanted to let folks know that I had a "Herbie is sick" occur and was able to stop by Herbalizer's offices in San Diego as I live about 45 minutes away. I was able to leave my unit there for a few hours and pick it up later in the day. The unit is working perfectly again and I thank the folks there for being really helpful. They've dropped the price to $599 which may old news to most of you. It's a great unit and I hope they are able to keep on vapin'!

Does anyone know of a way to reuse the stock Herbie bags? All of the ones I have have sprung a leak near where the bag meets the green squeeze piece. I have taken the green piece apart and it appears it can be hacked.

I can't find a post I made earlier in the year but it needs a bit of an update..
I cut a 3" piece of ½" vinyl tubing and inserted it into the green mouthpiece, just past the rubber reed. It now extends into the bag preventing all the sticky shit from gathering at the narrow neck of the bag. My problem of going through bags was over. I told my daughter a few days ago that the bag in my Herbie was 4 months old. (I"m trying to see how long it will last). If I suck it flat without letting some air into the bag it will be really sticky in the upper portions of the bag when I start another later session. So I usually pull it apart while holding the valve open before I put it away.

Please PM me if anyone knows of a used Herbalizer being sold or if you are planning on getting rid of yours soon.

I tried contacting the one person who has it for sale in Classifieds but no reply.

I don't know if this has been tried on said before.
But I have found that I get increased vapor potency and production if I hit a bowl 5-10 times and/or few hits with the fan going at 290f then crank it to my desired temp.
I am still testing this idea out but I wanted to share to see if anyone else gets some results.

Reading 265 pages of this forum is really no joke :uhh:
Lots of good stuff.... did anyone ever start the "Best of Herbie" thread? It is sorely needed, with the best points/counterpoints and useful suggestions all in a couple pages.

I put down the herbie for a while, mainly due to my disappointment with the continual need for replacement of the bags, since I am a much bigger fan of the bags than the whip... Although, being without the bags definitely made me use and appreciate the whip. I find the bags to be much more convenient for me, and now that I have a newborn, I plan on blowing bags and walking out on the balcony, since there is no smoking/vaping in the house :bang:

Anyways, man it took some researching on here to figure out the "best" solution (for me, at least), in regards to cost effectiveness/ease of use with replacement bags. Lots of good points on every end, but here is what I seemed to get out of it, and why I made the choice that I did, for anyone coming into these boards late, and not wanting to do the back reading that it takes to make a sound decision (although, I do recommend that you do for anything and everything else regarding the Herbie).

Stock bags for a regular bag user just won't cut it. Whether it is leaking from the squeeze valve/bowl connection, or from the bag/squeeze valve, or just random other permeable areas on the bag with frequent use. After about a week of use, my bag fails. $10 a week on bags is not something to be taken lightly... and it honestly blows my mind that this hasn't been resolved by the company yet. (Carrie had sent me a few free replacements, and kept telling me they were developing new ones but she would send me replacements, since they just don't work, until the new ones arrive. After 2 or 3 times, I received a reply from someone else telling me they wouldn't send me any more. Which I partially get, but after spending $787 total on the machine, it was really hard to swallow being told to buy new defective bags for the price they are asking.

Anyway, it boils down to two options for replacement. You either keep your squeeze valve and replace the bag with a viable bag, or you get a volcano solid-valve and hold it down as the bag blows.

In terms of cost effectiveness, since you can replace the squeeze valve bags, it seems like the best option would be to keep the squeeze valve and replace the bags. The only problem I started reading with this, is the fact that the squeeze valve itself deteriorates and cracks over time, so it makes me worry that harsh chemicals can leak from the hot squeeze valve to my mouth. You also would have to purchase the bag set again, which makes this not an actual permanent solution. Then again, I have seen an adapter on someone's previous post that holds the bat up on glass, which would eliminate the heat on the valve, and the need to buy bags just for the valve.

Buying the solid valve system from S&B is $100 one time, (93.00 shipped for free from a site I found), and no risk of the valve itself breaking down with time. You do have to hold the solid valve onto the bowl, so that is a small downside. Some people use the volcano bowl instead of the herbie so they don't have to hold the solid valve up while blowing, but this can warp the plastic around the heating element (some say insignificantly and it can be worked back into place, but I'm just not going to let a $700 + machine melt in any way).

So far, we are about equal in each option, but I think the deal breaker for me is the durability of the volcano bags. People seem to be quite pleased in this arena, as well as the custom sizes of the bags.

Well, I ordered the Solid Valve due to these considerations, and that came from the back and forth of the good folks on this forum.

Hope this helps anyone wondering their best option without back reading!

If I am off or anyone thinks anything needs to be added, please let me know!

Now, lets start a best of!

I have owned the Herbalizer for about a week now, but it is hard to know for sure because I have been excellently wrecked since the moment it came into my hands. Seriously- I have cycled through the following vapes in the last year +: Chinese box, Volcano Digit, Pax, Arizer Solo, Underdog, Cloud Evo, even a Firefly--the Herbalizer trumps them all by a fucking mile, and does it without ever breaking a sweat. I didn't know what real VAS was until I started reading fuck combustion, but it might be over now.

The Herbalizer is so convenient and absurdly effective that I get WAY too high nearly every time I medicate (for anxiety and ADHD). It is an amazing device, and I feel like my life has improved stratospherically since I started using it. I have put aside almost entirely the "stoner" tools of my past, and am moving closer and closer to a setup that medicates effectively without making me feel like a drug addict--as fun as that can be at times. .

You sir have done some good research in this thread. This is a nice summary of options but I am curious as to what your biggest gripe with the squeeze valve? Is it that the bags rip or that they deteriorate? I still have my original squeeze valves and have only had to replace bags once for each one. I am not a primary bag user but still it seems like those valves would last awhile. I have one replaced bag that I have used probably 50+ times and it is still going. I use an adapter to blow up my bags horizontally so there is a LOT less pressure where the balloon and squeeze valve connect. That was always where my other bags ripped. I am having to change this bag I have used 50+ times not because it ripped but because it tastes too funky LOL

I also invested in the solid valve option. I like that one a lot too and you don't have to hold down the solid valve while it blows up. I put the yellow ring that comes with the solid valve into the Herbalizer groove and that prevents it from deforming the plastic at all. It works beautifully. The only reason I don't like to use the solid valve is because I prefer to blow up my balloons and then use a hydratube with a whip adapter plugged into the squeeze valve for my FAVORITE way to take big hits. I can't figure out anyways to attach the solid valve to a hydratube so thats why I don't do that option as often.

Hey, I've read a ton of this thread and am about 150+ pages in.

I have a problem: the little piece connecting whip to bowl is INEFFABLY stuck to my herbalizer. It doesn't twist in either direction, and that doesn't seem to change when its hot or cold. It definitely doesn't pop out, and I don't have the funds to buy another bowl at the moment.

I mostly use the stock whip anyways, so it's not that big of a deal. But on the rare occasions that I want to use SSV tubing for bong rips, that little connector is still on there, increasing drag and lessening airflow.

I have washed it with rubbing alcohol and still nothing. It's dirty, but how could it be this dirty?

Tips, please!

Thank you in advance:love:

...................................................................
I use this method for all "stucks".
Freeze the whole unit so it slightly contracts.
Then direct heat onto the outlet area, like from a hairdryer, to expand the bowl exit joint. Try to not heat the whip piece--cover with tiny piece of aluminum foil and/or place tiny piece of paper dipped in cold water inside whip piece- try to not let it heat up.
Bowl joint will slightly expand and whip connector will not expand.
Twist and shout....

Version #2 I just thought of--
Place on Herbie empty.
Blow fan at 445 F to heat/expand it all
Remove and cool only the whip connector with cold wet Q-tip or cold wet cloth. Twist and go....
good luck

My main gripe with the squeeze valve is the lessening quality due to deterioration/leaks. I use the bags for multiple sessions every day. Usually, I do a bag at about 330-350, then 360-370, then 370-390, lastly 445. So, 4 bag fills per session, and between 4-6 sessions on average per day. At this rate, the squeeze valve balloon only lasted about one week. A weekly change for me is highly undesirable.

I really liked your idea with the adapter, which I read and saw the picture several pages back, and I have a feeling it would increase the length of the bags, due to minimized heat exposure at the valve/balloon connection. However, I fear that the squeeze valve balloons are just too inferior in quality to the solid valve for any technique to make them salvageable. I have only had the solid valve for a few days now, but I can already notice how much better quality they are. (I wish I still had a new squeeze valve balloon to do some side by side comparisons for more subtle differences than just the overall quality. I am looking forward to seeing how quickly the solid valve balloon gunks up like the squeeze valve balloons did.

Another tip I found very useful in this thread was topping the bowl with an aroma pad for a more thorough ABV. I definitely notice a darker brown after my session is done.

Great to know that the yellow ring will prevent any deforming. You've done enough of this to be positive there is no damage done to the herbie? If so, that is another game changer, as not having to hold the solid valve would be perfection. I'm also interested in trying out the solid valve chamber and plunger.

For any bag blower, the solid valve is a MUST. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Anyone see that black friday herbie sale?? $499?!?! Hurts when I paid $787 shipped to my door, originally. Oh wells...

I have not used the solid valve enough to know if it deforms even with the yellow ring. I would be surprised if it did. I think only one person had an issue with deforming and they were using the solid valve on the highest heat over and over and over without the yellow ring. Even doing it that way he was able to reshape the plastic when it was a bit softer. I think with the yellow ring you would be fine. I don't really use bags too often so I have not thoroughly tested it like you.

Report back on which bag material you like best. I really like the volcano bags and am not sure that other bags would or could be better.

I tried all of this--no luck. My next move will be an overnight soak in 91% iso and salt. The Herbalizer functions perfectly even with the whip adapter piece stuck on, of course, but it means that I can't close the lid with the bowl still inside--and to me the "close lid and go" aspect of the Herbalizer is a large part of its efficacy and positive effect on m medication lifestyle.

I would love to own another CoolGrip bowl, but I can't justify a 70$ purchase when the one I have is already dysfunctional after just a few weeks of use. I know this isn't exactly a warranty situation, but I am pretty upset about it. It really lessens the versatility of my Herbie! :(
