Thanks @Joel W.! I couldn't have done it without you! Seriously thank you for all the help. I probably asked a million questions and you were so kind and helpful and didn't seem to get frustrated at all. People like you help make this forum a wonderful place to learn and share!

First squish of some mid grade bud (the one that yields 12% from bho)

Not weighing anything as of now. Just messing around tonight!

This works 1000x better than the flat irons. I cranked it to 30 ft lbs. This is the best thing ever!

Great video @BoogerMan !! I had pretty good luck loosening the screws on the movable jaw slightly to get it to seat flush to the solid jaw.

Also: apparently the digital soldering irons boogerman is using do not run as hot as the standard adjustable soldering irons that I use. This makes for slower heat up time and a lower max temp at about 225f. :(

We think this is due to the controller pulsing on and off and not reaching the same temps as the adjustable irons that I use. Both are 60w irons.

So, for now, I am sticking with my recommendations on using the standard adjustable irons unless I can find a digital iron that runs hotter/more power.

Sorry about that boogerman.

Always happy to help.

No need to be sorry! This is such an amazing setup! I am so happy with how it looks and performs. It is amazing IMO

It ended up getting up to 240F before I shut it off last night.

I think I'll stick to around 225-230F anyways since that seemed to work well and was super tasty (I squished each 1/2g bud about 2 times to get everything out).

I'm going to try to use a little foil around the irons to get an even tighter fit. Maybe this will help with temps and heat up times like we talked about.

I'll report back later tonight :D I'm off to squish town!

EDIT:
The tip @Joel W. gave about keeping the movable jaw slightly loose definitely helps with allowing the jaws to align even more flush. In sure this tip can be applied to other vise/squish setups!

So the foil worked great. I got up go 260F in about half the time it took me to get up to 225F last night.

Seems like 420C puts me around 230F. Thats a nice coincidence :smug:

i agree this thread is great, but i feel like it has grown from being a thread about joels plates to a thread about rosin tech vise builds. of which is great, but a lot of that stuff belongs in the rosin tech thread right?

i didnt even know most of the posts were in here about the builds because i havent been following due the fact that i dont need joels plates (yet at least).

would be great to see many of these posts migrated over to the rosin tech thread.

@2clicker I have no problem moving threads over for you guys, but reading through this thread, it's hard to figure out which ones should go. Most have info that belongs here too since Joel W. seems to be developing a new shape to his plates. And some have nothing to do with rosin tech at all and talk about bubble hash. So tell you what; how about you shoot me a pm and link me to the threads you'd like moved?

@Joel W. you can post in the rosin tech thread, as long as you aren't promoting your product while doing so.

Thanks @randomtoker

@2clicker , I agree. But I don't want to break the "no spam" rule and the other rule about not being the " main topic of disscussion" and cross posting stuff.

Maybe @momofthegoons could take a look and offer some advice, as I don't know how to move a post without making a new post?

aw hell i didnt mean to cause anyone any trouble. just thinking out loud. @Joel W. i def was not trying to bring any negativity to your great thread! please know that.

@momofthegoons... would it be ok if i simply quote the posts that i think are relevant and then post them as a quote in the other thread?

That would be a great solution. That way both threads benefit from the information. And it isn't exactly cross posting as a quote.... We'll bend the rule just this once.

But in the future, let's try to keep this thread about the OP and post the rosin techniques in the rosin thread. It'll keep things more organized. :D And links to the rosin thread can always be posted in this thread.

New set of H press blocks going out soon for @BoogerMan

Edit, I am thinking of adding a 3" x 3" square plate to your bottom block to give it a larger footprint. Let me know what you think. :)

Looks amazing! I am seriously more than excited for these. I haven't made rosin the past few days. Been holding off until I got these bad boys!

Sorry for the late response. If you can ship them today that would be great. If not no problem at all! Thanks Joel!
