So, why wouldn't someone from Da Vinci Las Vegas order an Ascent from DHGate just to see what turns up?
We have someone on staff who's entire job is to find unauthorized sellers and to track down where the unit came from.

Da Vinci's customer service confirmed that my serial number is genuine... wait and see.

I'm curious as to how they confirmed your serial number is genuine. The last time I was stateside, the only way to do so would be to go through our wholesale order lists and see when that serial number was checked into inventory and then out. What exactly did you ask and what were you told?

I wanna be a PI!
HAHA! I guess I'm kind of the PI for us. I actually get to go to the factories and collect evidence. The job stateside is just browsing sites such as alibaba and the likes to try and find new ones that pop up. Visiting counterfeit vape factories has been one hell of an experience though that's for sure. Always learning something.

The CSR said "The serial number you have is one of ours." Have I misunderstood?
In the meantime, the seller said I could register my serial number on your website to make sure the unit is genuine. Is that not quite true then?

Cheers

There aren't any fake Ascent's that we are aware of. I'm almost positive it is genuine I just don't know if the representative looked further than if it was a familiar number to them. Where exactly did you buy it and for how much if you don't mind me asking?

I was playing around with the spacers and glass flowers I came upon something that works well for me.

If this has been suggested already I apologize in advance.

I put two glass flowers inside the herb and then used a spacer flat side down.

Produced nice clouds without too much medicine.

@CarolKing , while dumping the spent herbs I thought about what you said about not saving AVB from the Ascent. As long as you filter whatever you make (butter, oil, tincture, pain cream etc) and don't just sprinkle some AVB into food there is no problem with some glass petals mixing into the AVB.

@Davinci_vaporizer , as mentioned above, I enjoyed using my Ascent this am. I have been thinking (always dangerous, especially when medicated) about the ridiculous amount of money you guys charge for the spacers and THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED with new Ascent units even the package deals?

The spacers cost a lot because of glass manufacturing costs. I've said here many times, the tolerance in glass molds make it really difficult to make small parts. The fail rate is high which makes our price higher. Also, there is the second step of drilling the holes into the spacer, plus packaging and shipping. I think $12 is a fair price.

That is correct, they do not come with new units.

@OF Actually purchased one and will be sending it to our Vegas office for evaluation. We can't confirm or deny yet, but I will say it's not looking good that these are authentic. Once we know 100% we will confirm with more details.

That's not the case with the one I got. I has the tab and a late and legitimate S/N engraved in the right spot. DV checked it out, that unit S/N was legitimately sold. No guaranty that isn't a second unit with than number of course. It 'looks right' to me from any inspection I can do with two exceptions (which might not be disqualifying). The display is slightly different than the other one I have (perhaps a lens change?) and the charging profile (current over time) is not the same. The latter might point to a copy?

It also came in what seems like a legitimate box with a different legitimate S/N???? One possibility is, I assume, the pirates bought a couple of real units as bait and for photo purposes hoping to land a sale for a large number so they can tool up and make a killing?

That unit is at the DV office (at least that's the schedule) so DV can inspect/test/evaluate it. Scheduled for next week? I'm sure they will let us know what they find, and I suggest we back off and give them some room for that? The Pros are on it.

Seen some 4400mah. But says clone in the add

The 4400 mAh claim could be considered legit if it has two 3.7 Volt 2200 mAh cells in series to make the 7.4 Volt pack. Which would be normal, like 'the real ones do'. That battery (two cells in series, a single sell isn't really a "battery".......) has a real capacity of 2200 mAh (at 7.4 Volts) but the cells total 4400 (at 3.7). Other makers do this sort of 'specsmanship'.

The ad for the one I bought didn't say 'clone' but IMO that's immaterial really. What counts is the end user sale as we've been discussing in a similar case of an obvious copy of the Arizer Air. Everything there says "Arizer.com" and so on, but no S/N and some obvious differences unlike with the Ascent I bought and sent to DV. IMO these guys aren't really looking for single sales, they want to move a lot of pieces. The end goal is to sucker the end user of those individual sales in LHS and so on......guys who never see the original ad. The middle men know, for the most part, they're dealing in counterfeits but seek more profit in the counterfeits? Fooling the final customer is the goal?

@DV,

Your Black Friday sale is INSANE.

If I didn't already own 2 Ascent vapes I would get another.

What, you've only got one spare/backup? Is that safe? Kidding aside, given their reliability one as backup is plenty, but it's nice to have a spare from both a security POV and the ability to loan one to a friend to try out without sacrificing your own ability to enjoy the fruits of your cleverness?

No doubt about it, DV is looking out for us. Not always the case.

Hey, Christmas is coming......got anyone on your list you like that much?

Why I Will Never Buy from Davinci Vaporizers Again:

I do a lot of shopping online, and have had the unfortunate opportunity to deal with dozens of online businesses’ customer service departments. I’ve had a lot of good experiences where retailers recognized the need for excellent customer service in a marketplace where your competition is a click away, as well as some terrible ones that turned me off that company forever. But never have I demonstrated so much patience with a seller because of others’ claims of good customer service only to be rewarded with repeated frustration and disappointment as I have recently in dealing with Davinci Vaporizer.

Back in September I bought a Davinci Ascent primarily for my fiancee to use while she recovered from surgery and for the upcoming holidays with family, namely Thanksgiving and Christmas. I ordered from Vapor Nation, who offered a choice of freebies which I chose the 14mm straight adapter as I heard it removed leaks in the air path and produced better vapor. But after using the Ascent for a while, I quickly grew to love it, and wanted one of my own.

I planned to buy from Vapor Nation again, but first contacted Davinci customer support, as they were offering bundle packages on their standard color models including a U-shaped GonG adapter and I wanted to see if 1) the U-adapter could be exchanged for a straight adapter, and 2) if the custom Ascents included the free GonG adapter. I spoke with Tirishi from Davinci Customer Support, who seemed very helpful and said that the adapter was not included with custom Ascents, but that they would include the straight adapter in my order free of charge. This sounded great to me, so instead of ordering from Vapor Nation I ordered a red and white carbon fiber model directly from Davinci.

When the Ascent arrived I was disappointed to find they screwed up and sent the U-adapter instead of the straight, so I contacted customer support again, and again I was extremely happy with the result, as they not only apologized for the inconvenience and agreed to send the straight adapter, but said I could hang onto the U-adapter despite my offering to return it. However, the straight adapter promised never arrived, and repeated follow-ups with customer support yielded repeated claims that the adapter was being mailed, but never any actual results. It’s now more than a month later, and I’m still getting the same runaround from Davinci customer support claiming it will be mailed again in the morning. Now my Ascent sucks because the mouthpiece leaks tons of air, and it can’t be connected to the hydrotube I bought for it because the mouthpiece is not 14mm male.

If the adapter ever actually arrives I will update this thread, but as of right now I have little doubt that it will never arrive, and that I’ve been getting jerked around by Davinci’s customer support for the last month. I would advise others to take the claims of good customer service from Davinci with a grain of salt, because I’ve been patiently trying to work with them for the last month and have gotten nothing but grief and frustration from the process. Below is the entire email thread with customer support – notice they don’t get back to me when they say they will, and that the same claim is made over and over about the item being mailed, but nothing ever arrives. If I was working customer support and had fucked a customer over as bad as they did to me I would have sent the adapter overnight with tracking when I sent my final email Monday, but instead they ignored me for two days then gave me the same runaround today, so it is what it is. I will never buy anything else from Davinci – there’s plenty of sellers out there who don’t utlize bait-and-switch tactics and who actually follow through with promises, and I will patronize them in the future. Below is the extended thread of my conversation with Davinci Customer Service, note how patient I am with them until the end.

Joe - Oct 20, 10:31:

I recently placed an order for a Custom Ascent, order # 41822, and Tirishi was kind enough to offer to include a straight 14mm gong adapter which I had inquired about. Despite all the paperwork (promo order ASC-101515-129) saying straight adapter, I received the U adapter, and would like to exchange it for the straight one as the U adapter can't be used as a more effective mouthpiece. I also emailed C. Brown at your company regarding this, but wanted to make sure it gets through to the correct person. Thanks, Joe

Valerie (DaVinci Vaporizer) - Oct 20, 13:12:

Hello Joe,

I do apologize that was my fault I entered the promo wrong. We will be sending you the 14mm U-Water tool in the first shipment tomorrow morning.

Because we do appreciate your interest and business with the Davinci Brand we hope you will accept this discount code: ACC6 for 20% off any and all future accessory purchases with us on the davincivaporizer.com website.

Valerie:

When we spoke Oct. 21 you were supposedly shipping the 14mm straight adapter the next morning, however it's now Oct. 29 and I still haven't received it. Without the adapter the Ascent leaks a lot of air and is not very effective, can I expect to receive the straight adapter soon or what?

Thanks,

Joe

Valerie (DaVinci Vaporizer) - Nov 1, 11:23:

Thanks, I never received a tracking number and obviously never received the package either - if it turns out it hasn't been shipped I just placed an order for glass spacers, so feel free to include in the same package if necessary.

Thanks,

Valerie,

I still have not received the straight adapter that was supposedly mailed twice, last time on Nov. 5; are you guys sending it to the right address? My address, which is the same I registered with and that my Ascent was mailed to, is:

[My address]

I do a lot of buying online and have never had a single package lost, I find it hard to believe that the USPS would lose both of these packages. However, I offered to send the incorrect adapter I received back and was told to keep it, so I also don't believe I'm just being blown off.

Thanks,

Joe

Valerie (DaVinci Vaporizer) - Nov 13, 10:59:

Hi Joe,

Wow...You should have defiantly should have received that by now....I have just walked the request over to the shipping manager and he said he will re send the straight adapter first thing Monday morning. I am sorry that this has taken so long to get this resolved.

If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us back.

Have a nice day.

Valerie:

STILL have not received the straight adapter that was supposed to be mailed out Monday, and at this point I'm not even surprised. Is your company ever actually going to send the adapter I was promised? I've been withholding my review of the Ascent until that arrived, but if you'd like my open honest review posted now it's going to reflect very poorly on your company's customer service as I've been waiting two months for the item I was promised.

If the straight adapter doesn't arrive by Wednesday, November 25 I will be posting my review at the various sites I frequent as well as contacting my credit card company; I've been extremely patient while I've been jerked around for the last two months, but there's no excuse for this situation and I'm done being patient.

-Joe

Valerie (DaVinci Vaporizer) - Nov 24, 15:51:

Hello Joe,

I have requested the Free items to be resent to you again.

The package will not be to you by tomorrow. We will be shipping the Promo items first thing in the morning tomorrow.

Again we do not provide the tracking on the Free items we send out to our customers.

If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us back.

Have a nice day.

I'm actually getting the runaround from davinci aswell. I ordered a davinci 2.0 on the 13th of November. I emailed them on 18th to see when my vape would be shipped. I've been reassured on 4 different occasions that my vape has been shipped from the Canadian warehouse and I'll be getting a tracking number first thing the following morning. It's been 2 weeks and still no tracking number. Shame davinci shame.

I'd strongly suggest contacting your credit card company to stop payment on your order, as you're obviously getting the same runaround I did.

Obviously Davinci doesn't give a shit about customers who have already paid for their goods. Fortunately, we can warn others not to make the same mistake we did - I've spoken to two people who were going to buy Ascents but changed their mind after hearing the issues I've had, instead they'll be supporting Arizer.

Sorry, I thought my suggestion was helpful, wish I had done the same thing I suggested rather than waiting on a resolution. Will not be commenting on additional responses though, so thanks for the warning.

I will have to pick up a straight adapter still, so does anyone know if there's any aftermarket adapters that either work better than the Davinci or are a direct clone? Would prefer not to support them with any additional purchases.

Thanks,

You could buy an @Ed's TnT WonG it works awesome as a straight stem mouthpiece or with a water tool.

Try to make the best of it since you already have the unit.

I see that Puffitup isn't selling the Ascent right now. I was checking on the accessories that they had. They only sell the 2 piece Ed's Ascent stem but they aren't selling the unit and no other stems that go with the unit.

You can get your point across without trashing a company.

@OF Still no word from the US side on the unit you sent in, but that definitely is a curious case.. However, we have discovered a fake Ascent. We will be posting pictures on the major and obvious differences after the holiday weekend for you guys. But as @cornwalis said one of the biggest giveaways is in the fake there is no bump where the temperature sensor goes inside the bowl. We have photos of the PCB and our engineer here in the factory said its not safe, especially without knowing how the temperature control system works in this clone.

If you want real product and a solid warranty, please avoid 3rd party sellers completely.

Obviously Davinci doesn't give a shit about customers who have already paid for their goods. Fortunately, we can warn others not to make the same mistake we did
I'll make sure you get a 14mm straight tool ASAP.
