Amsterdam and Vaping

Hi guys,

It's my 21st soon and my girlfriend has booked us a trip to Amsterdam as my present from her. I AM EXCITED... To say the least haha!

It'll be the first time visiting for both of us, so any advice on good coffee shops and smoke spots would be appreciated.

I'm also wondering what to do with my vaporizer. We live in the UK and will be flying over. Is it okay to take it with me? If so, how thoroughly do I need to clean it? Should I take it in my hand luggage or put it in the hold? I've recently purchased a 'gun case' style foam hardcase off eBay and have cut the foam so my vape sits snuggled in tight.

Any advice is welcomed and appreciated,

Cheers!

I just realised I'm not actually taking any luggage apart from hand luggage due to the length of my stay only being Friday - Sunday. So no 'hold luggage' so to speak.

If I take it in my hand luggage and I am questioned about what it is, what would be a plausible believable definition of its purpose?

Have a great time.
My favorite shops were Paradox and LaTertulia which are more open and bigger inside.
Liked Grey Area but it's smaller inside like many of the coffeeshops.

I know US just banned e-cig devices in carry-ons. I assume that also means vapes.
You better check on what Euro flight rules are.

I love AMS and hope to return in 2016 !!!

It's a Mighty? Yes
Clean it very very well and if asked "it's a electronic cigarette."

Security is increased after Paris, so expect to have to explain what it is and or expect a "swab" test on it.
It would be best to have some eliquid with you to complement the subterfuge.

I would be more concerned returning to the UK versus entering NL with a "weedy" device.

BTW: No e-cigs, batteries in the HOLD/checked bags...They MUST be in hand luggage.

Have fun
Be safe.

I ve found vaporisator in this coffes :

- Baba coffee -> many Verdamper (Warmoesstraat)
- GreenHouseEffect -> 1 Volcano (Warmoesstraat)
- Barney's -> many Volcano (Haarlemstraat)
- De Dampkring -> 1 Volcano (Handboogstraat)

IMO and IMKnowledge best is Barney's; and in Barney's Uptown you can vape and drink alcool.
De Dampkring is really nice.

Wish you a good trip :)

Yaki Da - enjoy and have fun.

Make sure your vape is 100% clean and don't try to bring any herb back!

Hi, I have been Amsterdam from London airports 5 times, only on the most recent trip had I fucked combustion so I brought my vape an Arizer Air. Because it was a short trip it was kept in my hand luggage. Had 0 problems in either end, read my experience below. It's copid from the vapes on planes thread. http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/vapes-on-planes-traveling-with-vaporizers.239/page-21

Recently flown with my Arizer Air from London England to Amsterdam and thought I would add my experience.

I brought the air, clean stem and spare battery in a little case on the way out. I also borrowed a tobacco pouch off a friend and packed the stem with tobacco and capped it. I put the vape, stem, battery and pouch in my ego vape case. When it was security time I got the case out and put it in a tray with my other electronics. Wasn't even questioned and went though easy.

On the way back, after enjoying the last few puffs a short walk from the airport I put the stem in a small bottle of ISO, gave it a little shake as I was walking back to the airport, cleaned it out with water in the toilet sink before going back though security, came up 98% clean even with the very brief clean. Borrowed some tobacco, capped the stem, back in the case and went though without a second look.

Considering I stunk of herb, and so did the case the vape and herb was being kept with I was pleasantly surprised.

:)

Herb gardener...
@1DMF, But it's sooo tempting. Surely just a couple of nugs could be passed off as accidental. Plead ignorance.

I'm driving there next year, going nurburgring too. Will be hard to resist the urge to at least post some back from outside dam. Let alone fill my tires with weed.

SWIM tends to post their herb back from Amsterdam, 1 or 2 separate grams picked very fine and made flat inside a birthday card. Tiny spray of deodorant, literally sit or stand on the card to make it as flat as possible. As far as I know its a very high success rate, over 90%. Just don't put a name on the card. And try to space them out, few cards on the first day, a few on the last.

Have you not heard the phrase "Ignorance is no excuse of the law"?

I had a mate who used to chop a few oz into teenths and then swallow them wrapped in cling film every time he visited the dam - sod that for a game of soldiers, and I certainly weren't buying any from him! literally was 'shit' gear

Each to their own, but I couldn't do the time, so I avoid the crime!

Haa wow that seriously is some dedication.

I have been told that UK sellers of real Amsterdam weed one day UPS a package of 1-5 OZ's.

Their story goes that priority mail doesn't go though the same levels of security as normal packages. No idea if its true, its a friend told a friend situation. Would love to try this one day but the risks are higher both legally and investment wise.

When i lived in London in the mid nineties, there was the choice between soapbar, brick seed weed, occasionally some really bad grown 'skunk' or completely overpriced import 'skunk', and the top quality Moroccan that the Spanish were bringing in, and sold at fair prices.
Needless to say what my choice was back then, even thought it sometimes had a slight whiff of, well, arse.

Swim (lol) would just chuck a gram or two in their bag without thinking to much and fly back. If caught would claim ignorance and beg forgiveness. Been uk to dam at least ten times and no problems .

Really wouldn't worry about the vape. Just carry a pouch of tobacco and be like "it's my electronic cigarette"

Pretty sure uk airports have said not to bother with less than an 8th of weed, read it in some shit rag. But if they decide to g through your hand luggage then your screwed, I'd just say shit I'm sorry I was fucking high and I didn't realise. Jeans Jonny pocket in your bag is swims personal fav.

Either way, if you want to go for a well nice meal on the river de jarin is bling. As for coffee shops they vary so wildly these days. Still love the grey area and always stop at greenhouse for a gram of ssh although I hate he greenhouse (Arjan seems such an arrogant prick)

Have fun!

Try a Verdamper while you're there :) They are available to use in certain coffeeshops eg. Dolphins, Katsu, Happy Feelings, La Tertulia.
...........................................................................
X2 on the Verdamper, try one when you're there. LaTertulia will even start warming it up (15 minutes) if you call before arriving.
Paradox has a Volcano and a nice vibe to the shop---locals and good food/drink.

MinnBobber,

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
I have taken a iOlite and then a Solo to the dam in my carry on luggage.

But both times I took clean/new stems then just left the dirty ones there.

If I were you I would either take your cleaned mighty with a new CU or better still buy a vapman which will do concentrates with the extra screen. Because I am telling you right now you will struggle to get a dab rig out there.

I wouldn't even worry about being stopped going out there. The vaporizers are clean, legal and your going to Amsterdam ffs. :) It's coming home where you might come unstuck.

Barneys and the 420 both stock volcanos but be warned the coffee shops close pretty early.

The Strain Hunters place just up from Barneys has very good shatter.

Also I would find it very difficult not to mail a g of shatter back to myself.

If you choose to do so.

Here is what I know about sending shit in the mail.

Use the smallest envelope possible, no bigger than letter. (The larger the size the more checks through the sorting system)

Double bag and tape your shatter. (Eliminate smell)

fold in sheet of paper. (So it doesn't fall out of the envelope if it is damaged in transit)

put a false local return address on rear of envelope. (Looks more legit)

Don't post it from outside Barneys!!!
(Mail it as far from central station as possible.)

have fun you lucky bastard.

:D

weed passed through intestines? could be like that luwak coffee.
IMO Luwak coffee tastes like shit.

I have a box of it sitting on my desk at work, tried one cup, yuk!

I am a seriously hardcore coffee drinker (I drink cappuccino mug size espresso - hourly!), and I won't touch that stuff, yet it's meant to be the best and most expensive coffee in the world - which is why my Dad bought me it.

The sound of vapor
Hey @EDC,

Here are my 2p. since I went there a few times from UK and most recently this year.

I took my Air with me this last time with sparkling clean stems and a few ISO wipes from vapefiend (one could argue these are legal or not on planes but there was no inflammable logo on them so I took the chance), since I didn't grind fine (didn't take a grinder as there was no chance I could clean it properly) the stems didn't get too dirty and these wipes cleaned them pretty well; I could have thrown them away should they have been uncleanable.
The Air and stems were in an air tight box in my hand luggage and everything went fine through security check; if they had asked me I would have said it's an aromatherapy device that is sold in UK. Call me naïve but since it was clean and legal in UK I didn't see how there could have been any problem.
Now that worked well with an Air, back then I had just gotten a Lilly and considered taking it with me too but since there was wood involved (absorbing oil) and lighter (pain to refill and might get noticed at security) I decided to leave it at home. Basically any vape you can completely clean would be ok to bring on plane I guess (stating the obvious).

Now regarding places to go... I'd avoid the red quarter but I guess since it's your first time in Amsterdam you guy will want to check it out anyway but to get the good stuff I'd recommend the Amnesia (though a bit small and crowded) or go to Haarlemerstraat where you can find Barney's (they also have a bar across the street where you can smoke/vape) or a Greenhouse.
Vaping is not that common in Amsterdam apart from the Volcanos you see in almost every coffeeshop but I was expecting to see some portable vapes around here and there but didn't see any. Nevertheless I found a restaurant in that same Harlemerstraat called the Greenhouse Kitchen (not sure if they're affiliated to the coffeshop but they're close to it) where they have Vapirs on each table! The food was pretty nice, a bit on the light side portion wise, the staff very friendly and willing to explain how the vapes work and all that; they first ask you if you'd like a selection of lavender, mint and other herbs they provide or if you prefer using your own. The waitress was all happy when I asked her if I could use my own vape in there (I was still surprised to find vapes in a restaurant as you only see people using their weed in coffeeshops usually, apart from a few bars in the red quarter for instance). I even noticed later a cloud Evo on a shelf near plates and glasses. Only thing though when

I know if I ever go back to Amsterdam and arrive for the evening, I'll drop my luggage, rent a bike, head to Barney's to get what I need (the laughing buddha was good and definitely deserves its name), go vape with a drink or two across the street and then have a vaping/dining experience (as they promote it on their card); after that who knows? :p

Apart from places to vape... well you have a few big museum and so you can tell people it was a cultural trip you'll have to go to the Van Gogh or Riijks museum ;)
Check out the Melkweg for some gigs there, it's quite central; I've seen Squarepusher there a couple of years ago; nobody was smoking inside (wasn't vaping back then) but I guess a discreet vape would be fine in the middle of the crowd (depends on the type of concerts too).
If you wanna see the Ann Frank haus go there super early because the queue can be suuuuuper long. I personally enjoy walking along the small canals in the west part of the "center".

As for transportation, if your hotel is in the center or near the museums, you're in walking distance of everything, but if the weather is fine rent a bike (even for several days, that way you can go everywhere and don't depend on trams and taxis to go back to your hotel at night) and it's super cool in Amsterdam, everybody's on bike, they're the kings on the roads (watch out when you're walking!).

Pedal boats on canals can be fun too though you might go round in circle or zig zag quite a lot if you don't pedal at the same pace (watch out for the other boats!) :p

Erm well it's getting long so I think I'll stop here. You guys enjoy yourselves!
