Does anyone use it on 2 or lower? My buddy got his today, 2 seemed ideal. But I'm a sipper too. I plan to use mine that way when it comes. Curious as to other best practices at lower settings.

AFAIK (having no personal experience) it just will- it's inherent to the design. But it seems easy enough to just let it cool down for a few minutes between...

Only thing that gets hot is the tapered end where the heat actually flows through. Which is expected and understandable. The sides actually stay pretty cool.

I'm glad I can help.
Battery life I think averages just over 2 bowls. For the first time I got 3 fully extracted bowls out of a battery. I also hit my Grasshopper for over 30 seconds on the bong, very often.
As paytonpenn said, only the very tip of the mouthpiece will get very hot. The unit itself may get warm, but not any moreso than the Red setting on the Flowermate, or even the Arizer Air. I've burned myself many more times on the Air.
Consecutive draws beyond 3.5 will render the mouthpiece difficult to hit without a silicone mouthpiece. When you do have the MP, you want a little under half of it in your mouth, otherwise you may burn your lip with hot air. The same thing happens to me with the Air, which is kind of funny since it has a longer vapor path.
I usually use my Hopper on 2.2, 3.2, 4.1, and 5 if I'm feeling like dying
. I can get 2-3 hits out of each temperature, but you'll be able to see the differences on each pretty clearly.

I was surprised how small the bowl is. We packed it semi full and it seemed to last forever, and still barely looked golden brown when we dumped it.
I kept putting the clicker end in my mouth. Product of its environment I guess...

I've packed 3 loads so far, and that's been enough to last me through the day. The second two were attached to my D020-D. This thing rips.
EDIT: Something I'm noticing is that, while not hard, packing the Hopper without losing material or getting it all over your fingers can be difficult. I'm not sure how I'd do it outside on the move. Any suggestions?
Additionally, when more than half full, it can be hard to empty after the load is done. Just tapping it doesn't work — It sort of clumps together and I have to use a poker to get it out.

With the way I use it, yes it does, but I could easily change my usage and avoid the issue. That plus the silicon just means I'd have to be careful to avoid the really hot stream of air hitting my lips at high temps.
If I changed my usage slightly, a hot mouthpiece wouldn't happen, I don't think I'd need the silicon in a hurry. I'm finding draw speed, pack etc., usual stuff, makes a difference. As does sticking to the 'turning it off mid way through a toke' rule, so much so that I think it should be part of the instruction leaflet.
I primarily use my d020 and PnP WT knock off though, mostly at a permanent level 5 throughout each bowl.
High temps on this thing are strangely way more tolerable than I'm used to with Lily.
I'm still feeling impressed that the GH is meeting my (admittedly tempered and well read) expectations.
/end unhelpful ramble.
Edit: Feels very classy, exclusive, extravagant and stupid using the Okin as a mouthpiece for the GH. Once is acceptable I think though :-D

May I ask why you use it at temp 5 for the duration? I like to temp step from 3 to 4.5 and all of those settings milk the same for me. Just a temperature preference?
For the hell of it, speed of killing a bowl, seeing how hot it gets, seeing how to avoid it getting hot while keeping the temp setting and speed of bowl extraction, seeing how long the taste lasts.

For regular use, I'll temp step. Also, I'm sometimes putting keif and blobs of rosin in it.

Delta 3D Studios has some accessories for the Grasshopper on their website, including a loading funnel(http://delta3dstudios.com/grasshopper-loading-funnel/) and a mini stand that is designed to hold the Grasshopper upright while loading(http://delta3dstudios.com/grasshopper-mini-spiral-stand/)
Maybe the funnel would help while you're on the move and the stand could help when you're at home?

Crazy experience just now guys. I went through an entire bowl in one quick session. 4 and 5. The Hopper got suuuper hot, much much more than normal. I took out the battery (a tad warm), and emptied my AVB. Then, for about a minute and a half I drew air in without the backend and no herb.
Cool. There body was cool, the mouthpiece was cool, when just seconds eariler the metal was hot to the touch.
So, this thing really cools itself down if you air it out, literally, for a minute or two.
Also, I've just been wondering but can't really know I suppose. Does anyone know if it's OK to use a sharpie or something to mark the blue part of the battery? I want to number them or something. At least give me something to tell them apart other than little ink differences lmao.

Yeah, which is meaning here, I think, that a slow draw and turning the unit off relatively early during the draw is yielding nice results. I might just be crazy high tho.
It's working for me how I used to love using my PnP.

My wife noticed me spilling herb while filling our Arizer EQ and found a little metal funnel. I think it came with a booze flask for filling it. It is super tiny but it works great. I drop a couple pinches in and then push it through with the Arizer glass pick.

Marking them shouldn't be a problem. Just don't mark the contact points.

I used my wife's nail polishes for my MFLB batteries and that's worked like a charm.
Just gone back to Lily for the first time in days. However quick this hopper might be, it's not as quick as Lily is at producing clouds. And Lily's completely unrestricted air flow is like a breath of fresh air (albeit one that makes me cough like fuck from the ease of taking a vast hit I can't cope with) after solely using the hopper for a while.
The hopper is incredible. It's a real feat of engineering, but I think if I wanted to give it the hammering Lily gets, it wouldn't survive. I'm already bored of charging batteries (an external charger will resolve this) and managing heat levels ;-)
However, for massive, discrete hits on the go, I'll be reaching for the hopper every single time. If i were to go away for a few days, I'd be taking Lily for use wherever I'm staying, and the grasshopper for days out. Plus the charger. And extra batteries, and a lead. Maybe a water tool too.
This none combustion thing really starts to increase luggage!

We're a far cry from a baggie and some papers!
But, come to think of it, the Hopper makes a pretty good stab at being the minimal replacement.
It gets hot on 5 Carol if you hork on it heavily after 3 draws. 4 or lower is not an issue for me. The TI versions I have both cool down in seconds not minutes also making it easy to unload. I like to put my lips on the chamber and inhale quickly to get any particles out of the unit like my INH05S. Then, a quick tissue wipe while warm and it stays amazingly clean!
