hey guys... so with my piff majic blue and gram of wax here..

read someone saying for them to get a specific high (they smoked a few joints a day) that they would put a ratio of 8:1 or 6:1 or something... what does that mean... still new to all of this... also...

i have a gram.. i think... but could be less.. is there away to properly weigh/look and tell how much roughly it is.... and also... for someone who smokes up to 10-++ bong hits a day.. im looking for something strong...a very strong mix between the puff majic and wax that i can mix would be awesome... any help... much appreciated....

having a hard time deciding on what setup to buy for shatter/rosin. any opinions? i know the rda is more personal opinion than anything, really looking for advice on titanium coils and wire for temp control.

currently own an evic vtc mini as a power supply.

thinking either an evil monk clone, or the hannya rda. both are around the same price ($30) and form factor. leaning towards evil monk at this point, but i hear the hannya is a bit taller, more room for builds (not that i'll really need more than the monk has to offer).

going to order some titanium wire from lightning vapes, was thinking of just getting 24 awg for now (money is tight til next payday, will eventually get 20, 22, and 26 to play around with).

for the coils i will probably wrap some fused clapton coils at first, 2x24 core wrapped with 24. maybe try some normal clapton coils too, 24 around a 24 core. i have some fc2000 wicks from old w9 kiss carts i can slavage to mess around with for wicks if i want, but i want to try wickless first.

shooting for around a .5 ohm build, thinking this is a good place to start experimenting. any thoughts, objections, suggestions on my wire or coil choices? (@2clicker @ixtapa @fernand @WakeAndVape @Joel W. or anyone else, if you dont mind weighing in?)

After a few days of using an outer wrap of 24ga, I definitely observe less capillary action than when I was using 30ga Kanthal to wrap - the oil globs on top of the coil more than being drawn in to the coil. But Kanthal tastes like poo, so I'll stick with 24ga until my 30ga Ti gets in. 24ga wrap is not bad by any means (still zero reclaim), just not as good as a thinner wrap. The larger your dab size, the more this is true. You will probably want to try a thinner wrap when funds warrant.

I didn't like the post spacing of the Hannya. They were pretty close together, limiting the number of wraps in the coil and thus resistance. I try to keep it over .1ohm and that is tough with close posts. You are right about the overhead clearance with the Evil Monk - I'm glad I had a Stumpy top to replace it with. That said, the two are almost perfect together. The Zane RDA allows for using two posts along a diagonal, so even bigger coils can be made. But over the last week or so I have realized that massive coils are not necessary for wickless builds as I thought they would be. Sure, larger than normal - the oil must be entirely contained by the coil. But in practice this is looking to be fairly moderately sized. Will post latest build soon.

Oh yeah, .5ohm is going to be very difficult to achieve with a single 24ga Ti, let alone in parallel. Your eVic will handle low resistance just fine so don't worry about that (assuming you have a 20A battery - if not get one immediately). My eVic does not like TC with less than .1ohm, so keep it above that and you should be fine.

awesome, thank you so much for the response!

im just gonna get 24 gauge titanium for now to mess around with. will get a bunch of different sizes next paycheck to play with.

pretty sure im gonna go with the evil monk rda based on what ive seen, and what you said. the zane looks cool, but way out of my budget. hopefully i wont need to build massive coils (i take relatively small rips of shatter at a time), so hopefully clearance wont be an issue. if anything, i can just order a $10 stumpy clone to get the top part.

and finally, on the .5 ohms, i was just kinda guessing there. like you said, i just need to keep it above .1, and below 1.0.

so excited to order this stuff and start using up this G of shatter i have just sitting here!!

Anyone got any leads on some fc2000 wick that is thicker than 1/8" ?

I found a link on youtube showing some 1/4" fc2000 but my google foo is coming up short finding a seller for it.

This is where I'm going to settle. 2x24ga Ti wrapped with 30ga Ti, wrapped around a flathead screwdriver:

U3vKcau.jpg

This will easily hold dabs of .02g (tested), and likely up to .04g or .05g without trouble - .02g covered less than half the area after being pulse-melted into the coil (I'm still a lightweight - larger than .02g would destroy me!). For those inclined to even larger dabs, you can see there is plenty of room on the deck for a coil with a larger area.

I have no reclaim... except when I load in a way that allows oil on the first and last coil that go to the posts. Oil will (by design) flow down and around the loop, but then it will go straight into the post hole. No bueno. So I either have to be careful to minimize the oil along those two coils when loading, or find a mechanical solution. I am testing this out on the far side of the coil:

qu4aMKt.jpg

This is theoretically a little catch basin for oil dripping down the final coil to keep it out of the post. If it works well enough, I will repeat it on the other side and call it quits on design.

All titanium, amazing flavor, no reclaim or waste, full temp control. A true one hitter quitter. I'm so glad I found this route (as opposed to dabbing nails). Thanks to all who came before for all the pioneering work and for bouncing ideas with me. I would have never got here without you!

I still feel like a newb in the coil building game...lol

That being said my beloved Clapton burned out and since I have not ordered new wire yet, i have been using a parallel TI coil again (24g) wrapped around a fc 2000 wick...
I really liked both setups for different reasons, but the bigger the build the more oil it can hold and vape without waste.

With the bigger coil build I was dabbing myself stupid and still do to a degree...I slept all weekend and my fc attendance has been minimal because of it.

I have never used the juice mix with oil and have no clues about the ratio. There are other threads that may address it, but most people here are going for the one hitter quitter type set up, which is harder to do with diluted oil. If your a bong smoker by trade, the one hitter quitter might not be a bad option for you

wanted to show my build that i use for some time. its a kanthal quad coil with ss mesh as wick. it reminds me of a steamboat.
i use it as a multiple hitter. its hard to say how much it's able to hold, guess 0.2g or so until it gets visibly wet/saturated as in the pics. that lasts easily for 15 nice big lower temp hits.
as you can see i use it with 15watts. the heat up is slow (3-5sec), more power would decrease heatup time of corse but more difficult to control and dont like the dry harsh concentrate hits.

I just got a Hannya clone, been using Evil Monk with a RxW DBC. I like it so far. More vertical room is definitely good and I like the airflow. I'll probably order a real one now. The screw posts seem a little small compared to the hole and seems like it is easy to "miss" the wire a little, but maybe the normal one is constructed better. Already had a "check atomizer" message after a couple uses and I just wiggled it a little and it worked.

I always try to get it around .5 ohm, what is the appeal of around 1 ohm. I'm using kanthal though so maybe that's the difference.

Also I finally had the brilliant idea to stick the whole thing upside down into the downtube with ice which fit perfectly...

thanks to everyone for their advice, especially @2clicker and @ixtapa.

heres what ive landed on for now, waiting on some 32 ga titanium wire so i can wrap a 2x26 fused clapton coil. this is a twisted 26 ga titanium coil, around 12 wraps, .3 ohms, about 2.5mm inside which is all that will fit on this evil monk clone. definitely ordering a stumpy clone for the bigger top @ixtapa, this thing is almost unusable haha.

this coil works well enough, not much splatter or reclaim, but there is a tiny amount falling below. its not heating very evenly either, one half gets hot quicker. i was so high when i wrapped it, dont know why i made the legs uneven haha. i tried doing a flat style coil as well, but the twisted wire would not hold that shape. definitely going to experiement with the style @ixtapa most recently posted when i make a fused clapton.

Lol no, no extras. It works amazingly well. Zero complaints as of now.

I had literally zero experience making coils a month ago or whenever my first post was. Looking at the finished product here makes it look a lot harder than it really is. After about an hour or so of practice, making a fused clapton becomes pretty easy. There are lots of good videos out there. I strongly recommend using a swivel opposite the drill - this allows you to keep a little tension on the wire which makes it much easier to wrap. Another tip with titanium would be to lightly fire it with a torch or even a lighter before making the coil. This makes the wire a little less springy and generally easier to work with. You'll note most of my recent coils that I posted are blue - that is always my goal with Ti. Be sure to remove the heat from the wire the moment you see any glowing. If you get white, scrub it off before use!

Once your wire is ready, it's just a matter of finding something flat to wrap around. I've been using a flat head screwdriver to get the basic shape. After I have the number of wraps around the screwdriver I want, I crimp down the rounded part of the coil where it wraps underneath (both sides) to make a nice flat surface.

sorry for being absent. had a plate full lately. sheesh

my current build is identical to the clapton over solid micro coil except this one has twisted wire. i was low on wire when i made it. twisted wire def does not offer the same capillary action as a clapton. and a loose clapton should hold even more than a reg clapton.

i still dont have any wire... but when i do i want to rebuild and post pics.

Can someone PLEASE tell me a good cart for hexane oil? (Ganja gold). I was treating it like its co2 oil trying to find carts like eureka comes in and even got a gentlemans saboteur but I CANT get big hits with this oil. It's super clean very clear and it's basically super clean bho so I am assuming I need a more powerful coil then what is used for co2. Is the gentlemans v2 mega good for this type of oil? I just want big clouds like the eureka cartridges give you that come pre filled. Please help me people. I have heard of the Hercules giving the best hits but that's very expensive and it's huge. I need something pocketable. I already have an ego c twist by joyetech and a Puffco. The Puffco hit nice when you loaded oil on the coil and on high, I can't imagine needing a bigger hit then that. Please let me know. Thanks

You can make your coil as powerful as you want in this thread! I'd love to help, but the only thing you mentioned that I'm familiar with is the Herc, which I retired for DIY coils. I'm also not familiar with hexane extracts, I've heard hexane can be a bear to purge..... but I know super clean BHO, and these rebuildables with little to no reclaim is where I'm at now, always perfecting.....

Thanks for the reply! So I've been doing some experimenting of my own and it seems for these type of runny concentrates with a honey consistency a wicked atomizer is best. I've been using the gentleman saboteur with great results. If anyone can recommend another cart with a wick or anything similar that's meant to absorb the oils let me know.

Hello fellas.

I've been using an istick tc for a while now. It's been working great, but every day carry has taken its toll. It's time for a new one and the istick is going on backup duty.

I am thrilled to see the evic vtc mini is now availiable. I did some searching and haven't seen a while lot mentioned. Is the vtc mini friendly for wax, or will I have dry coil warnings? Are there any other mini sized batteries I should give a look?

Have a happy Thanksgiving.

I love the Evic vtc mini. After buying my first, I bought two more and gave my original to my cousin. Works great with the Alpha from W9 as well as the Kiss gen 3 carts (as far as pre built options I have tried). No errors to be had in power mode. However, I have not played with TC as much. No errors when dabbling with it though. Don't hesitate, it's a great mod and vapenw has a 20% off code (20%offBlackFriday). Like 35 bux or something for it.

That's a bargin. I will probably go for that.

After looking around a little more, the istick 60w and iPV d2 look like decent options too...
