hey guys i really love my ssv. had it forever and love it but wondering if anyone has tips for when you want to get ripped off a really small amount? i saw something about mini wands but i was wondering if there was anything designed for ssv. not looking to spend a lot on anything too fancy as it would really be a backup wand but always happy to have new ways to have fun with my ssv.

@DDave has a solution for this my friend.

You will need the GG Heater Cover in order for it to work though.
I believe he is listing the mod on eBay tomorrow.

Shoot him a pm.

My friend got the SSV with the standard HC (the ones in @hoptimum's pics) and I had a chance to use it this weekend....I'm really not a fan! He got it as it was the default but was expecting the GG HC like what I have.

Those of you who have both, any preferences? I rarely need to stir the load in the GG HC, just pop it on and puff away, and I love just being able to leave it connected, as my earlier pics showed the radiant heat doesn't appear sufficient to cause vaporization of things we care about :)

I use both, and I like them both. I like that the GG is inserted into the heater cover, but it's not really hands free. You still have to keep a hand on it while you're using it, IMO. The standard is pretty good, too, and I find it a little easier to turn while you're using it than the GG. So there are pluses and minuses on both, I think

Hmm, why do you still hold on to your GG wand? If I don't insert it securely (placing it straight in, turning it slightly once it is full situated to "lock" it in) then I get cold outside air mixing in and altering the effects.

@zor , at this point it's probably mostly down to habit. I was afraid that I'd accidentally yank the wand if I didn't hold onto it, with dire consequences. Also, I like rotating the wand while I'm hitting it because the SSV seems to focus the majority of the heat in one particular spot.

Sorry....I'm confused....there's a spherical ground glass wand too? How does that work?

Has anyone seen an intake hole this high on the HC before?

Both my HC holes are below the glowing orange spot on the heater by about 1mm. Does your Heater dim when you start to hit it? I wonder if the very bottom of the glow is the sweet spot?

How does that work?

IMO, It's like the GG wand in performance but like the Standard in that you have to hold it and can rotate and direct the heat. The wand is a huge chunk of glass, so the weight and weight distribution is much different than a standard/GG wand, very top heavy. The draw is very open and the material is a good distance from the heater, so flavor is very good.

If I understand you correctly, I have one HC with the intake hole around the midway point up the HC and that one is fine. With the HC that I'm having trouble with, the intake hole is way higher, directly under the bend in the HC.
