My coil is just glowing kind of "c" shaped around the outer part that is facing the lens - when I let it cool of, I can see rest of the coil glowing also, but much less brighter.
What am I supposed to see when your saying "You can watch the size and shape of the 'hot spot' change [...]"?

I think you're fine, "My coil is just glowing kind of "c" shaped around the outer part that is facing the lens - when I let it cool of, I can see rest of the coil glowing also, but much less brighter." is seeing the hot spot change size/shape with changes in airflow, right?

That's the point, changing the draw changes the way (and location) where heat is produced and delivered to the load.

One of the screws holding the posts of the coil might be loose. Try GENTLY tightening it. If you over tighten it you might break the post.

Always worth checking if indicated, but since the coil is heating normally I seriously doubt this is a problem for the OP. A loose screw would show up as no heating or a cutout of it at some point in the cycle.

Great Scott!
As someone with a loose coil you can HEAR the coil being loose, and it will not heat reliably. Joe fixed me up with some of the best customer service in my life to get me up and running, and as a side effect I got familiar with the vape instantly. I wish all vapes were user servicable, AND had high levels of customer service.

That being said I need to clean mine today. Its still sitting all combusty. Told my buddy not to pull it like hes ripping a bong this time, and no more chain hits. Going to give them at least 20 seconds between hits when possible. I miss having this thing. Having the firefly as backup isn't the end of the world. I think I'm finally comfortable enough to send my Mighty out for repairs.

Now that you are getting so comfortable with your ESV I would be interested in hearing a comparison on the vapor quality between the Mighty and the ESV if you could darkrom. Which has better flavor? Which is cooler? Cloud against cloud which bellows a bigger cloud? I do realize there are big differences between the two mainly being that the Mighty is always running and is a mix of conduction/convection.

Has anybody here had trouble with the app acting inconsistent? Sometimes I plug in the ESV and it says the battery is dead then a few seconds later it says fully charged. Also the color of the charging light on the vape doesn't always correspond to the status indicated by the app.

Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall the app? Anyone know how to do that in Windows? (Sorry, I'm a Mac person.)

Wonder when the app will be ported to IOS and Android?

Draw just fast enough to activate the light, keep steady until it blinks. Stop.
Exhale.

After using the ESV as my only vape over the past two days, I don't think this advice can be reiterated enough! I now have be able to use 320 and get great results with a very even brown avb with stirring. The higher temps just seem to cause too many hotspots which caused a very speckled with green avb and awful flavor.

Now with my draw speed being just fast enough to turn on the light yet, steady to maintain the light on for a full cycle has seem to be the best technique so far! Along with a medium fine grind filled to the top but never packed!

Im a happy esv owner. Took a while but finally got a working unit. Ive had an evening using it and im very happy with it. Still getting the technique down but the above post is right slow draw to get the light on then last bit speed up just a little. Seems to be working for me. My current set up is stirring lid installed, my temps are 350 375 400, ive actually tilted my coil up slightly aswell. And finally im using a normal grinder and then using my mflb nano finishing grinder to get it fine. This seems to be working for me. A few big fresh smooth clouds too. As i get more acquainted with it i expect it will be dialed back. Great vape tho. Thanks to ipuffusa and joe for sorting a working unit free of charge. Amazing

You got it amigo. The ESV has better flavor, unless you don't stir it. If you start getting hotspots then the flavor goes straight to the Mighty. The mighty flavor is good, and stays good. The ESV flavor is great, but can become crap depending on how you hit it. I never stir the mighty. That is the downside to the ESV, you NEED to stir it to keep the flavor amazing. The mighty blows a bigger cloud overall. Conduction tends to make bigger clouds than convection in my experience, but convection makes BETTER clouds :p There is a reason my vapes are going to be (2) underdogs, a firefly, and an ESV, and eventually the zion. Also, my oil setup is the D-nail SIC nail with the convection ring made out of sapphire. Did I mention I significantly prefer convection yet?

As for cooler they are both roughly the same temp based on my tastebud thermometers, but the mighty vapor irritates me more, though far less than a pure conduction vape like say the pax.

All in all I'd certainly rather buy another ESV over another Mighty, but the mighty just kills all in ease of use, repeatable experiences, and battery power. I get 10+ bowls on the mighty. The ESV I'm always trying to charge it after use. It doesn't help that I'm colorblind and struggle to see the difference between charging and charged, so I just throw it on the car charger between bowls. If I'm out I use a cellphone USB charger to top it off when I can.

Now that I cleaned the ESV of the combustion smell/taste, the mighty is getting cleaned up and sent out for warranty. Theres a very strong chance I won't be keeping it when I get it back either.

I wish I had any screens that would fit to try this bottlecap method. I gotta order some I guess. Suggestions for a known good screen for this purpose? I notice my mighty oil pad fits perfectly, but there would be nothing to hold it in place without a screw, defeating the purpose (but still allowing oil use)

Ah yeah sounds like my initial amazing experience, running higher temps with a smaller coil though, had the draw down pat.

Now I play it more safe but am still getting pretty incredible results compared to the rest of the competition imo

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
I had another run with a micro-dose and got it goin pretty well. Just a steady sufficient draw at 305f, nice taste, no visible vapor, then up to 355f which was already pretty thin in taste (it was a tiny load really, might have spent it at first step the most) but I didn't combust or char.. This is the first time - premiere! :D
Had stir lid with coarse screen installed.
The only thing I could complain about is the still uneven abv. Stirred after each puff 45-90deg...

If I can trust my senses, you gotta draw harder/faster the higher the temp setting is, to keep the red light (thus the heater) on. So more heat is applied to the load. Is that the trick?

Next time with a bigger load. All in the name of science ;):science:

Edit: if there was still a chance, I'd be interested in those screens , too! Of course if would gladly pay the postage (to the EU)!:2c::tup:

Thanks for the offers guys. I don't mind buying some 3/8" though :)

I think the local headshop probably has some. And we all know how patient I am...

Very much appreciate the offers.
I don't know if you have any 7th floor products laying around but I got mine from my LSV. 20.8 mm screen.....Worked perfectly!

Im so glad to have it back just need to get this technique down. Seeing dr vapes you tube vids im trying to get clouds like his. Over an evening of trying i managed to get two nice hits similar to his. So smooth almost took me by surprise as it was so cool on inhale and exhale. At this time in my learning curve i think im getting better results with out the stir lid. Which is frustrating as dr vape has one installed on his vid and is blowing big clouds. Will keep trying. One thing for sure defo potent even with out major visible vapor. I was blazed out of my mind last night learning this vape haha.

@"plainlazy", don't trip on someone else's Vapor! Too many variables, as you probably already know, especially matching temperature to the quality and cure of your meds. And as you have seen, clouds don't necessarily mean potency!

Amen! Very well put.

'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's vape, neither his clouds'. It's in the Vape Bible......
