Source Orb Pen Vape

I have been using the ceramic terra atomizer with high quality concentrates (70-80% THC). Unfortunately I have found that a black residue is left behind after vaporization. At first it surrounds the donut and then eventually the donut gets dirty and the performance suffers. I have gone through five ceramic terra atomizers thus far. In my experience, after 0.5g, you no longer get a good tasting hit because of the residue and after 2 grams (on average) the atomizer is useless because of poor performance. I have tried cleaning the atomizer by heating it up and draining multiple batteries and also by washing it it 99% alcohol multiple times overnight and with agitation. Has anyone had success with either using or cleaning a terra atomizer that has had more than two grams passed through it over its lifetime?

I have gone through 6 terra atomizers and 5 dual coil atomizers (v2). 1 of each died before being able to put 2g through it. For the rest, I quit using them after 2g because of reduced performance. I tried multiple cleaning methods multiple times but was unable to get them to perform like new again. Despite this, my opinion of the source orb is still high because I like that the atomizer is the same diameter as a 14mm male glass connection.

I included a photo below to illustrate the poor build quality of brand new v2 dual coil atomizers. Note the inconsistencies in terms of the lengths of the ceramic rods and the number and spacing of coils around each rod.

I am using my own VV/VW (non ego with 510 to ego adapter )battery with the orb. When I set it to the ohms it starts at, it reads out fine at about 4.0-4.7 volts depending on where I have my wattage. After a bit of firing, my terra coil jumps OHMS like up to 5 which means my voltages are insane too. What wattage do people keep there terras at to not dmg them?

I use 10-20W, as high as I am able for the terra atomizer.

Three of the atomizers in the image above start small fires if you turn them on at 3.3v with the orb top removed.

Poor quality control and poor customer service should be expected when purchasing a source orb, but they are nice for what they are.

Sounds like you may be burning some of your concentrate- there is learning curve.
Use small amounts, and stop before you get to that burned garbage taste.
-for a second, let it start producing vapor, then inhale hold for an additional 3-4 seconds. You can go longer if you have more product loaded, but with larger amounts you can gunk it up easier.
It's better to use a small amount almost completely rather than overload it.
These are my suggestions, but you will find your own technique.
Oh forgot to mention, start with your voltage lower, 3.6 and work up from there if you want more power.

Good luck!

After getting my CA medical card I wanted to explore what's changed in recent years in cannabis. As such, I'm new to concentrates. I've tried two different brands of pre-filled CO2 oil cartridges with the Source battery. (I wanted something solvent free and not messy).

My question is: Are these supposed to taste like burnt garbage?

Also, I ordered the Slim from Source on pre-order, and when they couldn't ship within a time they deemed acceptable they upgraded my selection to the XL travel version for free and shipped immediately. No complaints on customer service from my end.

Has anyone tried this pen vape ?
Any thoughts ?
It's been sold at Planetvape for $60 .
Looks like it's using the Kiss carts/Dabbler method .
My Omicron-lite bit the dust , so I was in the market for something new .
Here's a few pics .

The last Hanging Ti Coil comes with the Premium kit for $ 80 .
I highly recommend thevapelifestore.com if you're looking to pickup a vaporizer because not only are their prices good, but with my purchases on the website they've had great customer service

Setup pretty good now. My main user is a quartz Terra in the Orb on an iStick 30W running at 14.5W. Decent hits with no harshness, good taste, and economical on wax consumption and battery life.

My discreet pocket user is a quartz Dual Coil in the Source Slim on a 350mah Mini eGo battery. Hits very hard and harsh (lots of coughing), but the hits work very well.

I'm worried that the orb has too much airflow from the holes on the sides that it won't pull pooled and dried shatter amd give good hits is this true?

Strictly using Terras only , no coils .

I don't find it to have too much air flow .
I've adjusted my draw speed when hitting
a fresh dab as opposed to near the end hits .
And have achieved nice clouds , but using it
at 12 v on my Kanger battery . I want to try
the I-stick 30 or Aspire battery soon .
You can always cover up some of the 4 holes
when hitting it , if you feel the need to .

The dried shatter melts quite fast so it
doesn't pool up unless it's off and cooling .

Still my favorite DD for pen vape tasty dab hits
idk why this thread doesn't get more members tho ...

I may join you guys soon. There was a 1/2 off the whole orb kit from a facebook discount code, I've been waiting on another one ever since to pull the trigger. Let me know if you see a good sale or promo on these.

I want to, but there are so many pen vapes. And I bought too many of them. Dr. Dabber, puffco, divine tribe and a lot of w9 gear. I'm thinking maybe trying the source attys instead of buying a whole kit.

When you are adjusting are you adjusting less airflow as you take hits or more?

I inhale slower , so there can be less air flow .
What I meant was , on a fresh dab , it'll take a bit longer
to heat up and provide vapors . So I'll let the vapors amass
before drawing , As opposed to the end with less oil to heat up .

I hoped that cleared it up .

What are you looking for in a pen vape ?

I am looking for a good way to smoke on a pen vape at home, or in private. I don't really medicate out in public. I currently own the source orb 3, and DT 2.5. I have the ipvd2 as my mod.

I'm currently following the DT 2.5 thread .
It sounds like that one uses No coils either
in their donut attys .

For you , which one do you prefer ?
Orb or DT ?

Does the Source Orb have 510 threading, or how do you have it attached to the Istick? Thinking about picking up a V3 Kit, looks pretty slick

Yes it has 510 threading and I've read some members
have used it with their I-stick . It's Very Advisable to
get your own battery to use their Terra attys . It requires
a more powerful battery than the one they offer . For
Colied Attys , no problems with a weaker battery . But
I just don't like the taste of any Coiled attys anymore .

The flavor/taste hits are comparable to a VXN ...:brow:

So, I have a beevy of 510 threaded box mods that go up in range from like 7 watts to 50 I think the highest goes. Just so we're on the same page, and I do believe we are, but you're saying I could get this

http://www.puffitup.com/Source-Orb-3-Attachment-p/sv.104_attach.htm

and it could screw right down in? I only am asking again for clarification because I haven't seen a 510 thread in any pics of the Orb....the bottom always looks flush, but it's clearly screwed onto that Istick above lol

Thanks for the help :)

Edit: In doing some research, I think I would need this attachment:

http://www.smoktek.com/eGo-510-connector--Use-510eGo-atty-on-your-510-mod_p_103.html

I'll have to see if my local vape shop has them in stock. I do believe the Source is 510 EGo threading, while my stuff is simply just 510 threads.

Yes , just the attachment from PIU will do .

No I don't think you'll need the 510 connector for ego e-cig .
I've test attached ego type batteries without the connector .

But you will need a 510 connector for other type batteries tho .
I use one with my I-kanger pro , which came with a 510 connector .

hope that helps .

Thank you for the help, but I do have another question. You say you've test attached Ego batteries without the connector.....I don't dispute that because the battery it comes with is essentially an E-go style pen. My roommate has an ecig that looks pretty similar.

My equipment is not like that, I use box mods and drip tips essentially. Basically i use something akin to the Kanger Subbox Kit. So this is where my confusion sets in:

On my ecig(box mod), I screw my top tank, into my box mod. My tank, has a little screw, and my mod has a little screw hole. Like my tank is male and my mod is female.

Ego style pens, are the opposite. Their tanks have a "skirt" and get screwed on top of the male port that's on the pen. If that makes sense? I'm not so super familiar with the terminology so I'm trying to describe the best I can.

The bottom of the source orb looks more akin to these "skirt" style atomizers, rather than a tank with a dedicated screw sticking out the bottom. And, then when doing research on the IStick that the guy above has posted, I saw that the Istick is designed like my box mods, but comes with an attachment to use Ego Style Atomizers (which I do believe the Source Orb is)? Which would explain how his is on there .

I do appreciate the help :) , think I'm going to order the attachment and if I need an Ego Style Pen to use, I could just grab one from the local vape shop.

Edit: This picture details what I mean: I have stuff akin to the one on the right.

Gracias, I ordered the globe kit, and will just pick up a Variable Voltage Battery from my local Ecig shop. Saved myself about $15 doing it that way, lost out on 3 atomizers, but one was a dry herb that I'd never use, and the other was wicked with filament which idk why I'd use, and the other was a single quartz which is no big deal. Got the double quartz & ceramic wraps and the terra doughnut.

Thanks for the help again guys, FYI I bought a Tesla Spider for 19.99 at local vape shop. Does 3-4.7 volts, AND has some type of vanity cover so I could use either type of connection. Looks identical to the pen they sell, BUT while their pen is 650 mah, the one I bought is 1100 mah. So that can only be a good thing right, a better battery? I don't have to worry about like overdischarging or anything right? For instance, 4.6 volts on the tera through the Source Orb pen should still equal 4.6 volts on the tera through my battery....my battery should just last twice as long? Is that right?

Something I learned, and that also attributed to my confusion, was that I wasn't aware that they make pens now that actually have 510 threads. My Subtank fits right on top of this Tesla, the screw just screws into the center of the pen. Don't know if "Ego" style pens were always like this, and it was always a 510 thread? I used to dabble in ecigarettes but back only when the Ego's were popular and they never made me quit.....dedicated mods have helped me quit cigs, so I never looked back at the Ego's. Going to have to try to dig up an old battery and see if its the same sort of threading.

Learn something new everyday!

I have a E-GO battery laying around, can I just order their beautiful heating chamber and the Source globe 4 kit and use it with that battery?

Also, where would be the best place to check for them 30W and power variable batteries?

my battery is like the one on the left
