I always turn my unit to max(5) when I first switch on, sometimes hitting my first ELB there too before turning it down gradually over the next few bowls to around 2 o'clock ish

One question about the dial- mine starts at 8, rests at 2, and max is 6. There's absolutely no way mine will combust at any setting, I've done settings on max temp from start to end and I only get vapour. I feel like I'm missing out on some higher temps for concentrates though? Is it worth seeking a replacement, because my dial seems a little unusual.

I have a perfect unit and i have to try to combust. On Max it should only scorch herb it still shouldn't combust. The only way mine will combust is to pull slow on vaped herb, Or pull slowly for a very long time on max

I get very dark AVB on max, but really I don't think I could make it combust at all. Reading back over this thread there's a lot of off kilter dials. Which isn't a problem if we can all get the same temp range. I get a 10 hour spectrum if you know what I mean?

My other problem is the hydrabomb is every so slightly wonky. The female joint at the bottom is slightly off centre. So when you put it on the evo it looks a little bent. Took me a while to notice that though, and not something that will make me send it back.

I got totally wasted using it yesterday... this thing is a beast! Smoothest and biggest clouds I've had from a vape so far. I'm liking it a lot.

@twosilvertrees you should open a support ticket I think it could be the same issue that @Shit Snacks had with his faulty switch. Maybe it is a loose connection inside the switch which snaps back into position when you flick it often. So it could be a defective switch.

@Alan Partridge as long as you got the 10h temp range i don't think your missing anything. calibration should be done in respect to the min/max position of your knob. Notch on my unit is at noon and i wont combust on max.

Thanks for the reassurance guys, I was worried I was missing out on 2 hours of temps there :)

Yesterday was a great day. No wife, no work, cold and raining outside, so a whole day to myself with Boardwalk, Fallout 4, takeaway food and a new Evo. Just BLISS it was.

I got the Evo from Vapefiend. I get pretty much most of my stuff from them now as the service is great. Turned up yesterday morning. Opened it up, first impression was a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be, and a lot lighter! Turned it on and the green/red light on the glass was pretty cool, I was just expecting a little light next to the dial.

First try I whacked it up to 12 on the dial. Didn't get much out of it until I put it up to 4. Then the glass filled up with lovely voluminous vapour. My experience with water is limited to the MFLB Orbiter, but the first thing that struck me was how smooth this was. Ever other vape I have will give you a dry mouth and sometimes make you cough, but not this. And the hits are massive, I fogged up the living room in no time.

With some trepidation I turned it up to 6, expecting the load to combust, but it didn't happen. Just thicker vapour, and slightly harsher.

The clouds on this are massive, and it certainly earns it's name. It pulls the vapour out with such vigour my sessions are a lot shorter than with other vapes. I also said I wanted a smash you in the face vape, and this is certainly one of those. I was off my face last night, and was still feeling the effects this morning!

Taste wise, I don't think it's quite as nice as the MV. It's really really nice, but the MV wins it imo. The water tool could be a factor in this as well, as it's more water than I've used before and might be dulling the taste a bit.

All in all apart from the wonky dial and Hydrabomb, I'm very pleased with this beastly vape. As a clumsy oaf I am a little scared by the fragility with all the glass, but for massive, comfortable and smooth hits this is hard to beat.

I don't think the MV has better flavor. You got the Hydrabomb dude! That's a matrix It's like mass diffusion! You're robbing the FLAVOR! Empty your hydratube and hit it dry on 12 or one of your lower settings and come back and talk to me about flavor! Water is the culprit here along with all those slits in that perc! DON'T COME AFTER THE EVO BRO!!:goon: LOL:lmao::rofl: Do some more research! :science:
EDIT: Please don't take this as me being a Dick I'm just teasing around. But seriously do the research. I have the Hydrabomb and many others so I'm just speaking from experience . YMMV!

@Cannabis Connoisseur would be nice to have a little comparison of the Hydrabomb against other HT's or glass you use regarding flavor and flow. Debating about buying a second one, got the honeycomb and I'm not sure if i should go for it.

Mine is EU plug and 3:00 or higher turns as an electrical bong. It could be sold as a vape or combust pipe, lol.

I'm disappointed in the assembly process that has wonky dial settings. The units should work just as intended with the same temp range, but I'm going to point it out to them again. @Alan Partridge , your unit appears to be working fine. I get super dark abv at max, but no combustion.

That sux!! I just hit a couple of elbs turned up to max and no combustion for me just one huge hit of vapor!

So it turns out my preferred speed of draw makes the EVO whistle. If I slow it down just a bit or speed it up it goes away. Anyone else have this problem?

The whistling is normal due to the intake and taper of the bamboo most of the time I'm above the whistle. Best thing to do if it gets really loud is changing your draw a bit should not be much to change the volume at least.

The whistle stops on mine after it's warmed up

[edit]
Just figured out how to combust using my international EVO lol
Had it running for a couple of hours at 2(ish) - well heated. and just to test, I turned the dial to maximum, waited for the light to turn green and hit an ELB.
At first I saw the turbine cloud much quicker than usual but that was just before I noticed a glow begin to appear in the base of the hydratube.. It took a split second before I reacted. At first my brain told me it was just the EVO heating again, but then it dawned on me. My herb was burning, shit! lol :spliff:
As I dumped the contents of the ELB onto a plate, some parts were still glowing.

If I do this from cold start (as I've started to do every day) - turn the dial to max and hit an ELB when it goes green, I get zero combustion.

So, I decided last night to have a little project, with the bag talk and all, and wanted to feasibly try it out.

-the clips that the Herbalaire come with, cannot extend wide enough to clear 18mm (maybe if you completely undid them, but I wasn't going to do that)

-they did fit perfectly over the 14mm end of a 14/18 female female. Had to run the bag through the clip first because I couldn't put the clip down from the top, as I couldn't clear 18mm. Made a smaller bag than normal.

-Loaded an ELB, fully, had the EVO soaking at 2 when I was doing this, forgot to turn it down, did turn it down to 12 for bag 2. Bag 2 was much more wispy, and I didn't do a bag 3...tried drawing on it with tube though and got next to no vapor.

- I didn't do bag 3, because holy shit was the glass hot after 2 bags and I burnt my lip! Lol I need to more thoroughly think these things through, but as I said it extracted pretty fully in one bag at a higher temp. With some extenders/adapters, would be very nice IMO.

-the Evo was on its back legs, with the pumps tube as a third tripod like leg. Felt pretty secure, wouldn't leave it set up like this though.

Overall it worked pretty great! Fully extracted and was tastey, other than me not having the mouthpiece far enough away from heat source, thing worked awesome! Fun little project!

I also took advantage of that Veterans Day + Stickstones sale for a killer deal on the Travel Case. I needed to get a new case anyways for some stuff so this was a perfect opportunity, and I was eyeing it up, just seemed a bit pricey. Glad I got a deal!

Here are some pics of the bag setup, enjoy!

I've posted a couple of times about my AU Evo combusting. Unless I missed it no one suggested that it might not be operating properly. I've just been riding the fine line & pushing it to the limit of combustion like I do with my log vape & I get great results.
It's annoying cleaning my glass but I torch all my ELBs so the discolouration doesn't bother me.
I can't use mine above 1:30 - 2 but I also have to be careful not to pack the ELBs too full or draw too slow.
I haven't used concentrates in the Evo but I assumed the higher temps were for those & the risk of combustion was the unfortunate price you pay for having a dual purpose vape.
All I know is I have one hot fucking Evo & that's probably better than a cold one.
I'm still a little confused on what is "normal" for these units but it's my fault for asking people on a forum about something I purchased when I should just go ahead & ask my retailer. Anyway even if it's not working properly it's still my hardest hitting vape.

So now that I can compare the two HydraTree tubes, its very apparent how different they are. I think my original (right tube) is less imperfect, but I wonder what others have received...

hAoJT1h.jpg

These were level on my table (camera angle), yet the second tube (on the left) sits shorter than the first, with longer less and neck to make up the difference, whiles its oetc sits higher in the shorter can, with a smaller lower dry vapor / spash guard chamber...

Just to show them on a flat surface, the chambers are indeed very different heights:
QmECc61.jpg

And the mouthpieces, my original has a wider flare, more room for the mouth. The second one (on the left) is narrower, need to purse lips a bit, but much thicker:

mrjLPyl.jpg

So I wasn't crazy when the second seemed worse, presuming the first is the "correct" style lol Who knows, both do certainly function so what's "best" may only be a matter of opinion? I still think the first seems to work better, despite being thinner with its own perc slightly flawed.

Hey guys quick question.. have you ever accidently pulled off your hydratube after taking a rip only to have it rip off the cap of the ELB? This is the 2nd time this has happened since I got the EVO and I just soaked my 2 ELB's in Iso for an hour. Do the screens even stay on the ELB's with you guys because mine don't at all. I had herb literally inside the bottom air chamber of my hydratube with the cap of the ELB stuck to the bottom of the hydratube. I'm guessing this happens after we clean the ELB's in Iso? I don't remember those caps coming off so easily before.

Yuck. Combustion with my EVO tonight. What a nasty surprise. I am so spoiled by vapor.

I cleaned my Hydratube of smoke essence while it cooled down. I checked the bamboo and found it whole. I also cleaned inside the hollow joint where there was a lot of residue but it didn't seem to extend beyond that.

I think it may have been caused by having the airflow at the bottom blocked by the velcro strap of the heat jacket that can sometimes slip upward along the body of the EVO as I hold it. Alternatively, I may have gotten stoned and lazy and blocked it with my leg. These are my best guesses, anyway.

I've been using it since and everything seems fine. I've ditched the heat shield, though, probably for good this time. I find that I'm always adjusting it and that's a bit annoying.

Wait what? You have a 12 O clock unit correct? At 3 O clock you can combust? I purposely left herb in the ELB on my highest setting 4 O clock for over 30 mins to see if it combusted and it didn't. I know I should count my blessings but I'm beginning to really question the calibration on these things if you can actually combust at 3. I don't even think the notch has anything to do with it anymore to be honest.

Shit Snacks: both of these look gorgeous. I can't even see any imperfections on either of them (but all the photos are very blurry, so I don't see the detail). The differences in proportions are normal for any hand-made glass, these don't even count as flaws, just the glass being original.

If you put the cap of the ELB on the table and press slightly, the sides will expand a little and grip more when inserted into the bowl.
Please forgive my crude paint sketch, but I'm stuck in work at the mo :D

I learned last night that my (12 o'clock) unit can combust at high settings only after heatsoaking - it had been on for hours set at 2 before I maxxed the dial and combusted.
It may happen at lower settings too after heatsoaking, but I'm not overly keen to find out after the awful taste it left behind in my HT last night lol :puke:

Yeah the photos are terrible, had that issue trying to show them the first times. It's me and my phone, I have no idea how other people get nice pictures!

The issue with the proportion is it definitely affects the function, how much water and how big of a chamber. Though either way this tube is more of an inhaler than a milker.

The real flaws are within the percs, the arms, their slits, and where they meet the dome. So yeah none of that is visible in these pics. I do think the smaller mouthpiece is a flaw too, its just not as comfortable having to purse lips like that for a full convection inhale, despite the mouthpiece on that one being so much thicker.

In any case Jeff took care of me and I am satisfied regardless. Just thought it would be interesting to share bc I didn't expect them to be that different in size until I had compared both together in person side by side.

And @Socks And Sandals I cleaned an ELB in ISO and it was fine after, cap still fits snug. Only issue was cleaning the top sides of it, few of the screen holes still have little clogs that I couldnt rinse out, even with a steel brush from my Indica. Clean enough probably, but maybe there is a better way to clean? I had it soak over night in a shot glass, then rinse with water.

Also I have never combusted in mine yet, but I'm not taking my herbs past noon on my dial (notch is at like 11:30) and I'm getting pretty full extraction. Great taste too, starting at 9 or 10, even 10:30 or 11, and starting a bowl at my notch is nice too for quicker heavier hits.

I found the brush that came with my mighty to be ideal for removing the tiny bits of debris clogging the sides of the bowl and the lids (after soaking the ELBs in ISO and drying)
After cleaning, they look almost brand new again.

I use a bottle/test tube brush after using an ELB in the EVO, but the brush from the Mighty works well from the outside, after the ISO removes the stickiness
