Firewood Vaporizer

Whenever my new recording device (next week) comes expect some nice milky pieces the next day.

Does anyone else's Firewood get a big warm around the battery area when charging? Tell me how warm it was when it went green.
So @paytonpenn - I don't remember if anyone asked... Fw v. Gh. Which has better flavor, and which has easier maintenance?

Damn your video. VAS is flaring up! I'm still loving my FW 2.1 but this one looks sweet! I use a hammer stem with my 2.1 so it's not hands free. Digging the capsule redesign though. So tough......

I ordered Wednesday after 5pm EST with the same thing. Very pleased.
Yea I just looked at the map they are not too far from me so that kinda cool. Hopefully we get them tomorrow and enjoy them. What wood did you get?

I think the gH is easier for unloading while the Firewood is much much easier to load. The FW allows reclaim with the glass pieces and the capsule/mouthpiece is what gets dirty not the unit. Although a few months down the line if the unit gets micro herb particles in it, they are much harder to clean out than just dumping a specific part of the gH into some ISO. But these are particles that don't affect much other than when you look inside you see some specs hanging out with the heating element. The Hopper is an easier clean since its screens have bigger holes I can give it a quick iso rub with cotton.

I would say the FW needs less maintenance more often especially if you use multiple capsules. The Firewood I think ends up smelling less since I normally just don't just leave capsules in the FW and even if I'm on the go I like to take the capsule out and place back in the holder. Alternatively the FW smells more preloaded since the mouthpiece is more open and I can reach higher temps. But if I bring two Hoppers in my car one day and the next the Firewood and its capsule holder with two capsules in their holder. The Hoppers will have been more noticeable on smell upon reentering the vehicle hours later.

Flavor is hard, neither have bad flavor to me, but neither actually have better flavor than the other. So I would say this is really coming down to personal preference and how well these tastes stand out to you. The Hopper gives more of a heated metal flavor while the Firewood gives a soft wood flavor. Neither are so strong that the herb isn't the primary taste. Both taste equivalent I'd probably suggest the GrassHopper for better flavor longer since it cares about specific temps rather than a range.

Yes. That was the point of the Indiegogo. If you look at many Kickstarters/IG campaigns you'll notice the first iterations not being that great or actually failing to meet expectations (let alone not coming any time soon). I think its awesome they are actually replacing the broken ones. I've backed other things and too often has the maker failed to properly support his/her product when it breaks but is in progress of shipping to the other promised units. I understand situations occur and these people are just humans. They had an idea but sometimes it ends up being more trouble than it was worth.

It's something to get the item you backed for in your hands, but to actually expect someone to be able to support 20+% of the backers when they needed money to make it in the first place.. Well you better hope they got an extra 20+% of imaginary money to pay for all these unexpected dupli-triplicates.. Or you better hope they are marking you up well and cost ain't as bad as they say.

How do these stack up against the Air?
I would rate them higher, closer to a desktop.

Thx for the great info and details!

Just so Dab HAppy!
I'm not much of a cameraman and I don't have time to try and set things up to make a better video so here is a short milkshot video. I already took one huge hit before this one so I was still kinda struggling to get my lungs back in this video, however you can definitely see some milking action. If anything, this video should illustrate just how easy it is to get a big cloud from the Firewood. I watched a video of the Zion milking an Orbiter that @pakaloo posted yesterday in the Zion thread and I honestly am starting to think the FW3 might be able to hang with the Zion. I mean look at my cloud production compared to his and tell me who you think is the winner...not me or pak but the Zion or the FW3.

Notes for the video- starts at second hit. Temp setting 4. Flower/wax/flower sandwich. Music is Vida la Vida by Dirty Heads. Coughing in background is by yours truly!

Darth Vapor
First Impressions after one bowl:
Feels great in my hand. Smaller than i thought. Both the bowl and unit are very small. I can see how that bowl/stem holder would be nice to protect and keep a few extras on hand. Cool little pocket accessory. The wood grain is very nice. I love the look, and the vibration feedback seems to be straightforward, very stealth, and well done. Love it. The bowl system seems like a breeze to keep clean. it mounts nicely to 14mmm glass straight out of the box, fits snugly, and appears to be the only thing that will require frequent cleaning.

Cons so far. I may have a faulty unit. I was only able to get small amount of visible low temp vapor on the highest setting of 4. And no visible vapor on 1 to 3, with just a little taste coming through. The unit indicated a 3 vibrate charge out of the box and it is back on the charger for me to try again with a full charge. The unit just seems to be under temp, I waited and puffed for several minutes on setting one and two, and three with zero visible vapor. Even through glass. I am hoping is is user error, or that this just happens to be the first reported faulty unit. We shall see. Also, I am not a fan of being provided "gold screens". These are usually brass and many vaporizer enthusiasts much prefer SS or TI.

Considering there is AA batteries inside I don't see why they did not make battery access and swapping a real possibility as it is only recommended to swap when performance dips.

More testing is needed but if this is a faulty unit, which it appears to be, I have no worries because my first interaction with Marc and FW was very prompt and professional. Any thoughts from those who already have units in hand?

I actually received a first run fw3 that was faulty (wouldn't heat)
Marc said to send the unit back. I'm still waiting for the unit to arrive to him. I'm hoping to get a working fw3 in my hands because so far the reviews seem like this is a primo vape.

Whoa, steady on there little feller!

The Zion is capable of producing much thicker vapour than I got from it. I was using 75% power and a cold start, and I'm terrible at pulling clouds out of anything. I have no idea what the FF can do, but I know the Zion can do a lo better than that video demonstrates.

Not to mention @nosmoking also had concentrate in his FW bowl, you only had a bit of herb... Plenty of variables involved too, until someone has both no one will know.

I'm actually in the same boat. I'm really struggling to produce any kind of vapor. I've been wondering if there is a certain technique to it that I just haven't figured out but there isn't much info out there...

That was exactly my point. Even if you have both, making a direct comparison is difficult and full of risk. I didn't mean to sidetrack the discussion about the Firewood, however.
I'm glad you've modded yourself. You chiming in only adds to further discussion. Keep that in mind if you're gonna come here and 'defend' the 'Zion'.

This specific scene at the end would have been a better comparison but it looks like the Zion would be more consistent. Unfortunately this glass doesn't milk much better but my next shot will be wiht the D020-D. There is a UFO video somewhere, still..

I notice, when asked, you like to compare this unit to a desktop? Which one?

I seriously would like to know what desktops you own to make that statement.

The Firewood looks like it does a pretty good job. I'll have more to say about the Zion and bubblers in the near future, but not in this thread.
