Nice Boing! Thank you!

Looks like some crazy diffusion going on there, moreso than the tree, wonder how it affects flavor... You haven't tried the Evolver HydraTree have you though?

Yeah I like side cars and wanted one originally, but precisely @Roth Zion has a big part blocking, so as is even the Evolver will need a longer adapter to work with it (and Daisy too actually, it just fits Lily). I also didn't like the big vapexhale logo as much as the etched evolver one, and just think the straight tube is a bit more manageable, though ofcourse everything is smaller than expected regardless...

I guess we'll see what Jeff says, asked about getting the HydraTree I sent back back, or getting the HydraCirc while I still have the tree so I can be sure I like it.

Thanks for the replies guys. What are torch and log vapes and why are they better? Never heard of them. I just googled best vaporizers and found articles about portable vs table top, convection vs direct heating, and then lists of the best ones, none of which mentioned log vapes or torch vapes.

Also, if I get the Evo, which of the current hydra tubes should I get? There's the turbine, the honeycomb or something, and a few others. I plan to use the Evo right side up.

Edit just googled the log and torch vapes. Cant find much but results for butane torches and pens when googling torch vapes, but found some wooden "log vapes." From the outside it just looks like a big wooden bong almost? How exactly does it turn the smoke into vapor rather than smoke? Or what's better about it and why do most prefer table vapes? What would I be losing if I went that direction as opposed to the Cloud?

Yeah log is like a steel core to provide heat with wood around it to hold and gaze longingly at, load and draw on a stem or fill a bowl in a bubbler/bong and connect the log. The Heat Island creator prides himself on the pure materials, but there is a long waitlist for that one (he may have an old one to sell though). E-Nano and Underdog are similar, more common.

The torch vapes Im always thinking of are Triihouse, Lily and Daisy primarily, Daisy really is fucking incredible. There is also the Lotus and VapMan and some others as well. Check out some of the other threads here and in the portables section, great stuff

Just tried the iso + balloon trick to clean the bamboo...twice. No luck on cleaning out the inside of my bamboo. Both times I filled it with 99% iso and salt, shook the hell out of it for 5 minutes, and nothing really comes out. Any tips or tricks?

How often do you find this necessary?

I've had my EVO 3months and still not even a trace of anything in the bamboo. Slight stain on the joint every so often. Have wiped it 3 times. So an average of once a month.

Interested as to how long this larger build up will take if at all with regular maintenance

Cheers guys

Only when you spill herb inside, really. Also, if you don't clean the nail, I think some film of the residue buildup might end up in there too. I don't think it's something that needs to be done regularly - more like something that needs to be done if necessary.

How'd it get so dirty? The only time I've had to clean my bamboo in the nearly two years I've owned it is after I attempted to vape some DMT in it.

You might need to adjust your technique if you find it getting so dirty it needs to be cleaned.

At this point it sounds like you might need to really soak it. You also might try cleaning it after it's been used, but been allowed to cool down some. So it's warm, but no where near hot. Don't want to shock the glass.

If a soak in ISO doesn't work. Might consider a soak in a PBW solution. PBW is great for cleaning glass.

Edit: Just saw you said it's from spilled bud. How are you spilling bud in the bamboo? And it sounds like you're overfilling your VXNails.

Weed and I think maybe some nail residue that hardened up, turned into crispies, and somehow ended up in the bamboo. Or it could just be weed that is burnt into crispies.

A longer soak?
Any wooden skewers or similar to try poking at it a little? lol
As Roth mentioned, PBW is excellent at cleaning glass, but it's most effective with hot water which may make cleaning the interior of the bamboo more awkward.

Just a little bit of herb fell into the bamboo. Like .01g?

Here's how specifically...took a hit without remembering to put the top of the screen (easy to do when drunk and relatively new to using the VHX). A small amount of the herb ended up inside the HT and didn't immediately notice. Then the HT was placed on top of the VXH for a moment without any herb chamber inside and that small amount of loose bud fell inside the VHX.

I don't really see any good reason you would need to clean the bamboo unless you had an accident.

EDIT: My brother reports vapor coming out of the VHX after taking a hit using the nail and removing it. So it's probably possible that using a nail that hasn't been cleaned recently may cause more stuff to end up in the bamboo.

@Shit Snacks I prefer a side car slightly, but not enough to impact a purchasing decision. I don't really enjoy the circ perc. I find it robs more flavor than the others without noticeably cooler or moister vapor. I also find it chuggy when compare to most of the other pieces.

I've been watching yt videos with people using the vxnail+whipkit+a small dab rig.
A lot of folks don't finish the full dab all at once. They stop halfway to release vapor. When you stop pulling, the blow back from the bubbler will force vapor back down In the bambo. So I'm thinking lots of concentrate use would cause dirty bamboo. Even with flower, If you're pulling on the hydratube and stop while there is still vapor still being produced, the pressure has to go somewhere as well as the vapor along with it.

Good eye, that definitely makes sense. I never stop halfway through a hit, and keep pulling as I lift off the EVO. Which would also explain why my EVO stays clean, no back pressure pushing vapor back down.

Ah yeah that's what I'm worried about, hate chugging and flavor loss without great diffusion unfortunate...

The tree has great flow with only the top slits firing and the bottom openings allowing for little drag. Taste still comes through, and diffusion is decent depending on water level.

It really will be nice if I get the chance to compare, but hopefully I can at least get a HydraTree as good as the first, shame I didn't buy so much earlier!

I would add that this is no exception to herbs. If you or your friends stop pulling without disconnecting the watertool, the blowback would force some vapor and fine particles into the bamboo. I am mostly disconnecting it, but in a whip setup or group setting it happens. I've already cleaned it once after about a year of use and the iso came out light brown with some particles in. So the bamboo can get dirty overtime, even with just herbs.

@Socks And Sandals I've never heard of the corn syrup tip! I generally try to avoid corn syrup in my daily life otherwise I'd give it a shot :(. Thankfully I have medication (both herbal and otherwise!) to manage my symptoms and usually that's enough. The reclaim I made was actually from my Mighty's CU and not from my EVO, although I'm currently doing the same process albeit it very slowly with my HT LOL. Basically every time I clean my HT I use the same ISO that I keep stored in a mason jar inbetween cleanings. Helps save me some ISO and in the future it might be possible to use it for reclaim! Eventually the goal is to evaporate all the ISO out of the mixture so all that's left are the goodies, which you can then scrape up and dab. I know it gets some people RIPPED but I will say my Mighty reclaim doesn't give me more than a light body stone, although I never consume all that much of it at once.

I've never had the pleasure of dealing with shatter (insert quiet weeping here) but I can definitely sympathize about being not-so-great at dealing with super sticky oils, LOL. I'm still not sure I'm using the VXN all that effectively just because I can never get the concentrate to sit on the bottom of the nail, LOL. It's always just scraped along the sides.

I always give my ELBs a stir btw! I grind my material pretty finely but not MFLB finishing grinder finely (just upside-down 4-piece finely, LOL) before popping it into the ELB. Usually I take hits off of it until I notice vapor production has either tapered off or stopped completely, and then i pull out the ELB and open it up to give the contents a quick stir with a thin metal rod I used to use to clean my PAX. This has the added benefit of pulverizing the material further! So it essentially makes your weed a super fine grind, and it's usually enough to add an extra decent hit or two :). Plus it's super easy! The ELB is rarely too hot to handle and it takes all of five seconds to give the little sucker a quick stir.

I do use my S&B brushes to clean out the last of the ABV powder lingering in my ELB inbetween sessions/ISO cleanings LOL.

Well it really is just the juice in canned pears what I know works the best. Here's a quick confirmation and many other search results all confirmed that this has worked for nausea at least for some... myself included! But if your diet doesn't allow it, there's always the clean vapor your EVO produces! I love canned pears, pineapples, and peaches so much I keep em in the tupperware in my fridge all the time.

Just to show I'm not crazy.. lol
http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2011/10/10/canned-pears-fight-nausea/

What is the Mighty's CU.. sorry I'm not up on all the glossary terms and abbreviations just yet? Regardless you got it from your Mighty.. gotcha! Doesn't sound too complicated at all but is that Iso and salt that you are reusing or just Iso? How often do you clean your HT when you do? I have a half bottle of Orange Chronic that I've been reusing but I think that stuff has has something else in it besides ISO and Salt so I better make a note of that if I ever want to try it. If you happen to remember, I'd love to see pics of what it all looks like.

I take it you stir in between hits then? I'll have to give it a try. I guess I just find myself more concerned with removing the ELB as soon as I pull of the HT after taking a hit! Guess I'm still paranoid about wasting my herb. Haha!:tinfoil: I also use a 4 piece grinder.. an SCS to be exact and I love the thing and I also grind upside down. The ELB never gets so hot that I could't touch it. Even when at max the top might get hot but by just handling the sides, it's never been a problem. I love how it's so easy to remove our herb from the heating element and gives me a feeling of being in greater control.

I hate Shatter (not the high, just the texture of the concentrate).. Last night I had a small dab on the end of my dabber and I tried putting it in and it got stuck to the sides.. This happened twice in a row now where I just left the dab hanging off the bottom lip of the VXN. Trying to get in there with my dab tool to manipulate it enough to fall off the dab tool and the ledge of the lip isn't even worth the effort as it just creates more of a mess. I'm just mainly sticking with solid concentrates that I can actually scoop in haha!

Yeah I ordered a set of 3 more of those S&B brushes along with some extra screens and liquid pads for my Plenty. Use them for everything, including patting down the herb in the ELB. Ever so lightly of course!:)

So after extensive testing with concentrates I have decided that the Quartz nails are superior over the glass nails. I think because the Quartz sits lower in the bamboo that it gets slightly hotter and gives a better hit. I also notice I get less black build up with the Quartz. I can not believe the hits I get from little tiny dabs! It is like 1/2 or less than what I would use with a torch and nail! Super conservative with the concentrates!!

Speaking of conservative I have been out of herb the last couple days and was tired of wax so I looked in my grinder. I had enough herb to load a UD stainless stem (basically flakes, almost nothing) I dumped it into an elb and got 1 really big hit and 1 whispy hit!!!

You can actually get a couple of hits from a dirty empty screen on the EVO. I can't recall but someone posted a video of it a while ago

Oh yeah! I've heard of the corn syrup thing before, actually. But I try to stay away from refined/processed sugar these days, which unfortunately includes corn syrup as well :(. CU = cooling unit, basically the big block of plastic that twists on or off the Mighty. The vapor condenses/collects there, just like it does on the bottom of a HT, which means there are goodies to be extracted via ISO after a while :). I don't use any salt, just clean my HT frequently enough that the extra scrubbing salt provides isn't necessary. I wash my HT every night and just let it dry while I'm asleep :D. (Usually, anyway, sometimes I forget /cough) This tutorial on using an ISO wash to clean a grinder and how to extract the reclaim explains the process pretty much perfectly, just instead of using it on a grinder imagine using it on your HT!

Is it bad to remove the ELB mid-session? I have no idea D: So far it hasn't done any damage I don't think, and yeah like I said it can definitely provide some extra hits since it breaks down the material further! I also use a SCS (love it as well!) and while I do have a MFLB Finishing Grinder I find I don't need to use it for my material to be used efficiently and completely by the EVO, which is nice :). Saves me an extra step in the grinding process!

Definitely not bad to remove the ELB midsession, in fact, I remove mine after every hit.

Not necessary, but I often take a decent break between hits while just leaving the EVO on. This way, I don't have to worry about any extra heat getting to the herb while I relax. If I'm taking another hit in a minute, I just leave it in at that point.

I do it the same way and if you want to stir you should take it out too since @stickstones mentioned it would dirt up your bamboo faster if done inside.

Did not try this specific one but I try'ed few dome/circ style perc but only one tree. I have to say im a bit torn between chasing the flavor against a huge hit and the circ percs provides the best combinations of smooth vapor for a big hit while preserving most of the flavor for me. Compared to the honeycomb I get more of the sweet flavors with the pulse bubbler, the honeycomb looses a lot of this but still get a lot of the more woody or earthy notes.
Cant comment that much on the tree since i only try'ed one but with my style of draw (I like to rip it hard) the vapor with this one wasn't that smooth I got a little bit more flavor but not that much.

edit:
My circ isn't chuggy at all, but it's not a ht and i cant comment on the build quality of the evolver.
For the best flavor I always go with the dry mouthpiece.

hope you'll get the opportunity to try both. HT decision was kind of a hard thing for me too.

Thanks for the help Shit Snacks. You say the Log vape prides itself on pure materials, but doesn't the Cloud Evo also? I mean do you think it's more pure or just the same? Is there any reason for me to not go with the Cloud Evo in terms of health or anything else. Basically in terms of health and quality of vapor, do the logs and torch ones have any advantage over the Evo, or is it just different strokes for different folks but the same overall quality and health? I assume the log ones still need coils or electricity to heat the vapor just like the cloud does? At least the cloud is an all glass pathway right? I really know nothing about any of these so I'm just spitballing, putting out what little i know so you can correct it or add to it.

And Torch vapes, do these use butane torches, or what? Fyi I dont need portability, just the healthiest and highest quality vapor. If the odor issue for the cloud is a dead issue and that potential "bamboo" smoke can't make it into the air pathway anyway, then isn't that as clean as it gets? What could be cleaner than an all glass pathway? Or is it possible the glass they get has coating on it or isn't pure quality?

Just tell me what to get man :D haha. Well, if you could tell me what advantage the logs and flame ones have over the cloud evo in terms of health and vapor quality, or what's different about them other than aesthetics and how you draw, that would definitely help me finalize a decision. And why torch vapes are called torch vapes? I see that the log ones are built in wood like logs, but where does the torch come in for the "torch" vapes?

There is no advantage in terms of purity of materials in the log style vapes over the EVO. And yes, the log vapes have to be plugged in as well.

If you don't need portability, just get yourself an EVO. You'll look back and wonder why you hesitated at all.

Once again though, there is no "bamboo smoke". The term "bamboo" is a slang term that refers to the all glass airpath in the vape. It simply has little sections inside that resemble a cross section of actual bamboo. But zero wood, just glass. There is no possible smoke what-so-ever.

The term "torch vape" refers to any style of vape that requires a torch lighter to operate. They do not heat up via electricity, but rather through the torch. Things like the Vapor Genie and Lotus.

The EVO is an amazing vape. You can take small hits without issue, or massive rips that would sit down even the seasoned bong smoker.

Just get it.
