Underdog Log Vapes

Thought I would check in with a few words for the old timers and the newbies cruising
around for a good vape.
Winter is pretty much here now. No snow but back to our normal rains after the hottest, driest summer anybody can ever remember. Farm is tucked in better than ever with Kale, Chard and lettuce in the Hi Tunnel. Woodpile almost full. Temp in the 30s to 40s.
So I finally, after over three years from the bust, am getting my shop back together. After the raid the allure of my shop being a happy safe place went away for a long time. We just shoved some stuff here and there and kept sustaining. That worked in the right time but now it is get on with the good life. No, I don't get to be a busy bee making Zaps for a living but life is the book of changes. Ask Dave if the production scene is fun fun fun. No, it is work work work if you do it right like he does.
Anyway I am very happy to be out here in a different mode. A retired guy in his retirement season doing just what he wants to do, pretty much all day every day. This is my man cave. No TV but 3-4 bars on the laptop with all the doors closed. House is 80 yards away. I also have some cameras around.....on the driveway, in front of the house, in front of the shop and of course Wilma and her girls.I can monitor all those cameras from the shop. Wilma threw another heifer this year making three in a row.
I gotta say, the funnest part of my new life out here and in general is back to a clean record. I found the old Rick pretty quickly. The same guy but more opinionated and hopefully wiser. So I am still having the same fun as always. Dave passed on a few dogs over the last three years. We have several dogs barking now, including Sophie who has finally learned "speak" correctly. She is a sweet Golden with a very loud bark. Good thing she only recently learned it. If she would have showed it to all those coppers, she would not have made it. Hell, they threatened to kill her if her and their cool dog got into it in any way........."and he does not like other dogs!!!"
So life is good. Any leaners out there who are not sure about dogs, take it from old and feeble Zapman. Underdog is an excellent product with excellent service, all done by a couple of great people. Get them while they're barkin. The deals are great but the classic/top shelf are the kind.
Y'know, in this world the true craftsmen and innovators eventually could get an offer that is hard to refuse. Things can change. MJ is quasi legal now. Washington is another world folks, believe me. I have heard from a close friend. The big guys are moving in fast.
Get them now and during the holidays. A good vape makes life better. A good vape that barks is like anything that barks.......real nice to have around. OK, sure, there are exceptions. A barking woman comes to mind.......
Edited..........BTW, my sweet bride of 50 years has never been a barking woman. She is why I am still alive and still barking, being the happy dog I have always been. She wondered if I was referring to her in my original post........no way Jose.

I used my Walnut Air Core for the first time today, and it's exactly what I was looking for in a vape. Thanks to the FC community for helping me choose the right one. My main reason for choosing this vape is the ability to get a green hit every time. I also enjoy the interface with this vape. If I'm going to use this thing all the time, I need to enjoy using it. This is much more to my liking than filling up bags, which simply started to irritate me after a while. It may have been the crinkling.

Heya guys, I'm looking for some opinions, I want to know what type of design you guy's think will look good with this blank:

Wood is courtesy of @Snappo , was a pleasure doing business with the guy and would wholeheartedly recommend :) but I'm at a loss with what I want to do with this...I'm sure something will come to me, but I'd still like to hear what type of designs you think would befit this wood :)

I got a Cloud EVO recently, a great machine, but the Hydratube with the Underdog....so awesome. I got to pack it pretty tightly so it doesn't just fall into the heatport, but I can get some monster rips and it works great with my SS tipped GonGs specifically. Plus it looks pretty wild seeing this giant tube sitting on top of a little log

Hydratube and dog is my go to water setup! Have Dave "freestyle" it! :brow:

I think the shape of my dog pictured below would compliment your new Afzelia burl pup perfectly, but maybe make it taller than mine...

@KidFated That's a great idea, I think I may end up doing that....I'm so indecisive lol, I was perusing their site and looking all all the shapes, "ohh the Queen looks awesome, OH the Tophat looks great though, and the Fancy Bell looks really slick...BUT how sweet is that Steeped Pepper Mill?!"

I will consult my pups and see what they think :science:

@Snappo ohhh I like, I was thinking something with some sort of waves myself actually, I wanted a bit more of a design then a standard log, and I think the waves could show off more of it than ripples/ridges (IE: The Beehive)

So I've recently perfected my ideal daily use pack for the ss tip nylon direct draw stem, when I get a while I'll type a bit more up on it hopefully. But the basic idea for me is to pack about as much herb into the ss tip as can go and for it to still properly be in the bowl, tamp it down a few times till you can't pack it any tighter. It picks up a bit of draw resistance, which for me is about the ideal draw resistance. It makes it so I'm able to reliably draw in the exact speed I like best. That speed is really really slow. This way I get about 2 good hits and a 3rd less tasty but just as strong hit, and even a 4th hit about half the strength of the others. It takes a lot of the skill out of drawing and makes it so you basically can't do it wrong. I'm not saying this is the best way to pack, but for someone who sometimes struggles with fine motor things, particularly if I'm not medicated yet in the morning, or if it slips my mind and I don't have the opportunity till later in the day, this is a fantastic method and I can easily pack this way the night before or even with my fingers being uncooperative and I don't have to worry much about exactly where I'm holding the dog relative to the stem I can just get it close to ideal and I don't have to focus on draw speed and i'm better able to extract the medicine from my herbs when I'm most heavily in need. With my previous vape I was kinda out of luck if I hadn't prepacked it and in general would use more to get medicated than I do now. I'm probably going to save nearly the entire price of the dog over the next 3-4 months compared to the amount I'd expect to use with a less efficient consumption method. The only downside is that it'll take quite a while for me to get enough AVB to cook with.

@darkrom and I just got a bunch from family as a gift. I actually had to borrow a mason jar to be able to store it for as long as it'll last me. I'll probably be able to actually afford top shelf stuff from a delivery service when I restock my medicine cabinet instead of just whatever the usual pharmacist has way out of the way from anywhere. It's a really good problem to have, and definitely a problem that the underdog is going to ensure that I have for a while.

Morning everyone hope your week is going smoothly. We're working on some nice customs and still plugging away at the Minis as well so we've been busy. As always it's nice to see everyone enjoying their Underdogs and having a good time.

@Rick - Thanks for all kind words! Glad to hear you and Pat are doing so well and that the farm is truckin along settling in for the winter. :)

What voltages do the minis work well at. TBH I haven't ever really gotten my mini up to vaping temp, but there could be a few factors at play here. I didn't want to push it without asking, and with the other 2 going 24/7 I really haven't been motivated LOL.

It'll vary from vape to vape (because of heater variation, size/density, etc) but the range will be the same or similar to full size Dogs. If it's running cool on a standard wall-wart I'd try it on the VVPS and maybe start a 12.5v and adjust from there as needed. :2c:

Thanks! Still dont plan on smoking or anything until she's back so no worries on time! I'm in no rush as long as she's safe!

Hah, not sure if Underdogette had a chance to message you before she left the office but I actually fixed her up already and have her ready to head back out tomorrow (or whenever you want). :ninja:

The plug had failed from the excessive heat of her accident so it was a fairly simple replacement/repair that didn't require me to dig into the core. Other than the plug she seems to be in pretty good shape for her age so I think she'll be with you for a while yet...

Hey all.. so finally after USPS messing up with my shipment, I got my teak pup :) It is extremely beautiful.. I wasn't expecting this much to be honest.. loving it..

Now I have some questions... I tried the UD with little herb using the direct glass stem, but wasn't able to get much vapor out of it.. after 2-3 pulls, I saw the herb getting dark yellowish, but didn't see visible vapor.. :(... then I tried the nylon stem.. omg, it was awesome, although now I understand why people say it's like a one hitter.. after 1 hit with cloudy vapor, the herb gets really dark... Any tips on how to generate the most vapor from the direct glass stem? :)

One other question.. I feel like the UD is running tiny bit hot.. do I need another extension cable then? I'm already using the extension that comes in the kit.

Overall, it skyrocketed me to the moon, but to be honest the consumption was at the same and maybe even little higher than what I'd use in a joint... I must be definitely doing something wrong...

Great Scott!
I dab daily. Either you have some TINY joints, or you packed about 6+ underdog stems for one session.

It sounds like you just need more experimentation. How fine is your grind in the glass stem? You can always push the screen closer to make a smaller bowl and get it closer to the heater. I suggest that. If your nylon stem is ripping, the underdog works. Just move the screen closer and make smaller more toasty bowls in the glass one.

yeah, no the underdog works for sure, no problems with that.. just trying to figure out the right way to use it..

as far as joints go, 1/8th is usually enough for 3 weeks for me and wife (although she smokes little)... so it'd be accurate to say each of my joints are around 0.2gr... they don't look so small to me to be honest.. :)

for grinding, do I grind reaaaaally well? I'll also push the screen little closer to the heater..

thanks!!

Any, I guess. But I suppose I was thinking specifically of the nylon stem when I asked the question, since I think that's what was being discussed just before I posted.

I suppose I also didn't realize there was any difference between the bowls of different stems. So I guess I've already learned something.
