DDave Mod, New DDave Mini Mod & Kit for Arizer EQ/VTower Vapes

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
Three things I am working on:
* reinforcement collars for whip tubing
* 18mm whip tube water tool adapters
* whip tube replacements
DDave V3?
My :2c:
* reinforcement collars for whip tubing
I almost was about to suggest something, then realized you came up with a solution. Wow, hope to see pics of what you came up with.
* 18mm whip tube water tool adapters
I use your 14mm F/F adapters for this sometimes. The tubing slides into the 14mm end and becomes snug enough. The other end is 18mm, so it fits on the 18mm fitting on my water piece. Perhaps I've adapted too much to the kit and eventually came up with my own simple solutions.:borg: But in my defense, everything is mod-able. :science:
Or did you have something else in mind?
* whip tube replacements
Not sure what you mean, @DDave . An improved whip tube?

This I sent off an inquiry on and await a reply.

Your posts are always so detailed! Thanks for investing the time in them! A valuable resource regardless of the subject matter that you present!!!
Thank you for looking into the wand variation that I mentioned earlier. Glad I can be of any value to you and have anything to offer for 'DDave v3' or 2.5.

Would you consider a replacement screen/tip hat kit? Your tip hats work great with most standard 18mm fittings  but not with EQ's stock. But that has it's own problems. The screens have held up for me. Like the mesh and thinness too them. I like not tasting screen when I vape.

I'm am happy with everything in the full kit. But look forward to the changes.

Ah, no. Same tubing as included in the kits. Just replacements for those reporting they need to discard if unable to clean.

If I replaced the basket screens, it would be to accommodate completely different glass wands. Not considering anything that would fit arizer stock elbow glass. While my mesh or materials may be an improvement, the dimensions kill the end result. I did prototype baskets of the same materials and mesh that did fit the arizer elbow and SSV wand dimensions. Didn't result in the even extractions as the current wand/basket combo does.

The screens have held up for me. Like the mesh and thinness too them. I like not tasting screen when I vape.
. Thanks! The baskets were one of the more challenging of the kit components. When I finally received the ones chosen, felt like I'd crawled through the Sahara Desert and been handed an ice cold bottle of ...

I got a chance to experiment a bit more last weekend and tried out .3 of Jamaican sativa in the 18/18 tall adaptor starting at 165C and pushing up to 190 before collecting the ABV, I got some huge clouds, and a very strong but clear high :). The following day I tried a .23g mixture of Orange Haze and some Organic sativa in the 18/18 standard, which produced a fair few big tasty clouds. This kit rocks and definitely works a lot better than stock.

I've tried scouring the forum but can't find the following. I'm wondering if anyone (e.g. @DDave or @CuckFumbustion) has any recommendations on temperature ranges to use with the different configurations of the kit. E.g. what temperature ranges work best with the standard/mini/tall adaptors in power session or smooth session modes? Thanks

I usually run the short DDave 18mm in power mode filtered through water starting at 190°C and finishing at 220°C. By the end the ABV is dark brown and well-spent.

Good luck!

I think people avoid discussing specific temps as it's such a variable. You have to consider many things like, moisture content of the desired herb, the heat soaked temp of your machine. 190 when my machine been on 15 mins is not the same as when my machine been on 2 hours.

Indeed. I'm impressed alone that you found 14mm tip hats, much less having well behaved 18mm ones.
Found a mad scientist way to clean them. Now hear me out. Take a small open jar with a small amount of ISO, place your other dirty screens in the jar, take a wand with a stubbornly dirty tip hat and place it in the ISO. Attach the other end of the wand to the hose that runs to your EQ setup. Then run the fan. Bubble action in the jar enough to agitate things. Rinse everything with H2O. (or tap water) If that doesn't work then the old ISO and sea salt overnight in a ziplock bag trick.

We have several Posts in this and the Arizer EQ thread. I gave my first impressions also, if you want to go further back and re-scour.

Other than the pamphlet's recommendations, Go with lower temps than stock parts all around. The larger bowls are for more casual hookah/sipping sessions. So that might be in the lower range of what you like at 165C. Higher end of what you desire for quick extractions/big clouds/vape bags.
I try to get that gassy/less pronounced vapor when I do experiment at the lower temps. Otherwise, different grinds seem to work well with different size bowls.

The 14mm wand telescopes the vapor, if that is a desirable thing. The 14mm short bowl is good for extracting single pieces of herb, instead say shredded. So density is a factor there, If you were to try that method when choosing a temp. Let us know what you come up with.
Edit -- @Treeburner and @Nugg are also correct.

@CuckFumbustion, what's the flash point of iso 99? Would it be possible to heat it to point of ignition with the eq and fan?

Also I finally got some unbleached organic cotton wool for my wand. And I don't like it.
Seems to add too much restriction and if I put it in more sparse it gets sucked up. And the whole point of this was to remove small particles but now I just get particles of wool in the whip. Who uses cotton as a filter? How do you make it work? If you cause too much restriction in the wand, the hot air goes back inside the eq, heating up the pcb. Not good.

All great responses previously!

To give a summary statement, gauging by what you seek (clouds, flavor, mix of both - or one hit extractions vs. slow relaxing sipping), plus the characteristics of your particular unit (does it run hot or cold compared to those who respond?), and then your herb characteristics (moist/dank, dry mids, including any concentrates in the mix?)... Can give ranges to try...

18mm short strong cloudy session with least draws - 220-230c straight off till desire to toss ABV. Heavy effects, sleep, stress, pain management.

18mm long mellow session with more draws - 160-190c Can stay at a lower temp for elevating energizing effects, saving ABV to recaps at high temps later for sedative effects. Or can flavor step from lower levels, raising 5-10c each hit or two, experiencing a variety of flavors/effects.

For the 14mm, session characteristics are similar, though if desired you can really use a minimal amount of herbs. Or as one esteemed FC member reports doing, loading 14mm shorty adapter up to place where basket screen reaches and get 5-7 cloudy hits. I don't recall the temps that were used.

You can use these as suggestions or starting points on the quest to find the sweetspots of your vaping sessions. Sounds like you've got a good start already!

Thanks for the resource ddave, I shall load myself an 18 wand pack tonight as iv just finished work and I deserve it. Then I shall do some reading. Thank you.

You always seem to know where stuff is. Are you the index?

@kellya86 To use a small amount of cotton and get it to hold the wand needs to be a little bit sticky/dirty. I don't experience any extra restriction when I use cotton but I always use a water tool so I may not notice?

The other option is to put a small amount in the mouth piece of your whip. It will stop particles in your mouth/lungs but won't keep your whip any cleaner.

Figured out today that I've been packing the end of the 18mm wand too tight - when I packed it more loosely I got even more vapor and cooked the ABV more evenly.

Only pack it enough to keep it from falling out, but don't try to fit more in than you can suck into the end of the wand by drawing on the other end of the whip. Less is more with power mode, but even with a high tolerance I can get very stoned off a single wand pack.

Dam fuck arse balls wank. I just broke my @DDave short adapter, which is main bit of kit. Will have to use the tall adapter now.

Ddave when did I order my replacements, my last order only took 6 days. I'm really hoping this one comes soon now.

For @DDave v3 can you wrap the adapters in something like the tuff cyclone.?

Luckily I orderd 2 spares and a spare wand a week ago as I had a feeling this was coming. I was asking for trouble, I vape on a unforgiving marble surface, and keep my avb and the weed I'm using in glass ramekins. I dropped the adapter onto the glass ramekin. Smash.

This may be a blessing in disguise, I'm vaping the tall adapter as I type. And it's much smoother that the short. More casual, maybe I shouldn't be gasping for air after every exhale feeling like there is no air in the room.

Na, who am I kidding, that's what I love. I know my package must be near. I just hope them bastards at customs don't stick there nose in. I know some uk people have had issues lately.

So iv been vaping nearly 2 months now, 1st month I broke an elbow and a stir tool.
This month iv broke my favourite ddave adapter.
So by this I'm gonna break at least one thing a month.
@DDave, I hope you keep trading, I'm gonna need you. Don't go getting hit by a bus or anything. Take care. I may consider a bulk purchase if this is a possibility.
