Oil extraction while vaping

I was thinking, I put some sort of filter in my whip that builds up oil as the smoke passes through it
I could probably reuse this oil in other ways too

I wouldn't mind hearing some ideas, what other people think, what material would work best, etc.

A filter would trap vapor as the vapor (not smoke) passes through. The oil is just condensed vapor. You're going to get condensation on anything in the vapor path. If you're going to try this, I would suggest using something that doesn't cover the entire vapor path, since you'd probably be trapping a majority of the vapor. You're not going to be able to recover 100% of the condensed vapor, so a goal of increasing condensation would be contrary to high efficiency.

I always imagined a vast network of glass tubes with a vaporizer blowing vapor into them in a way so its it all condenses and can be harvested on a large scale. Highly prized stuff.

That would be amazing.

I've often contemplated a filter of some sort too reclaim waste vapor from exhales, can you imagine how much oil you could collect if you had a way of containing the vapor you exhale and don't use.

heh yeah actually thought about in depth several times while vaping... kind of imagined a filter of some sort that would be several filters actually each one smaller and finer then the next. Would have too use some kind of solvent too clean/harvest the filters, then you would also wonder exactly how much oil it could actually take too make the filters no longer work (ie time too be cleaned/harvested) wouldnt want too make something with a bunch of extra filters if they are not needed. idea came too me one day as I was letting all the oil that accumulated in my extreme whip drip into a bottle

personally I think one should not mess with the vapor going from the machine too your lungs... but the non absorbed vapor that is exhaled seems like it would yield a huge amount of oil


but then again would would want too add an extra step of "take a hit, then blow into this" would make things a tiny bit more complicated.

and honestly if someone took that idea and made something that worked, I wouldnt mind in the least because I am too lazy too do it myself... hell i'd even buy one from you.. heh

i see the vapor condense on the inside of the test tube i use as a stem. i have thought about using a peltier cooler along the stem to force maximum condensation ... but, yo, what's the point? Just to revape at a later time? to bake into a cookie ("Take a cookie", said the Oracle. "I promise you'll feel right as rain ...")? i don't like eating thc ... i swear it makes me immune to that particular strain.

thats pretty much all i do with the oil i collect... eat it... occasionally I will add it too a joint when I rarely do smoke herb... but ive been experimenting with cooking it past month or so, so thats where my ideas of oil harvesting were hatched.
i havent run into a problem with any formed resistance too a strain when I eat it, but then again the ABV we use too make the oil is a community stash, so its made from anywhere from 5-10 strains. same with the oil and vape poo collected from two of the vaporizers we use
the only problem I have with eating it, is if I make the stuff too strong it takes a day or two for me too feel the MJ (it still works medically, just light feelings or no euphoria) if i smoke or vape it

I harvested oil from my E once and never really noticed it doing much when I vaped herb soaked in it. I got vapor forever, but not much high.

The oil I get from DBV wands and PD stems gets me ripped. Like hallucinating ripped. And makes me sleep like I've never slept before.

I've often wondered this too. Not so much for oil collection, but using a bag to exhale into, and just keep inhaling and exhaling in the bag 'till it's gone.

Don't you think the lack of oxygen will be hazardous to your health? I'd inhale some fresh air once in a while.

we've actually talked about this in another thread. Gotta watch out that you don't hyperventilate. I've blown into a bag and reinhaled it. But the way I did it, was hold the hit in 4-10 seconds, blow into bag. Take a moment, catch my breath with a few nice normal breaths, inhale from the bag, and repeat. That way I am getting some fresh air mixed. and when using a bag I wont take a full hit, I leave enough room for me too take a nice inhale of fresh air right after the hit.
I dont do this often but have noticed when I do, I can get alot out of a tiny hit.
still run the risk of hyperventilating if you dont introduce some fresh air too your hits.... 02 deprivation is not the point, consuming the vape is, so if your going too try a bag, dont forget too add 02 too your hits

and personally ive only done this a few times. Its only been when i'm down too my last bit of herb and cant seem too get some more, so I make what little I have go as long as I can make it.

however there is also another alternative... get yourself a nice thick glass bar mug or other liquor glass, chill it and blow your hits into the glass, they will sit in the glass while you catch your breath, that way your vapor isnt sitting inside a bag cut off from oxygen.. just get a straw sip it out, hold it in and let out slowly back into the glass.

But wouldn't most of the thc be absorbed from your first hit? Is it really worth it to recycle hits? Why don't you just hold it in longer and absorb everything you can? I only do this with vapor though, never smoke.

you don't absorb all of the vapor when you inhale it, you only absorb some, all the visible stuff that comes out of your mouth when you exhale is still vapor that can still be absorbed. only problem with holding it in for long periods is the potential risk of lack of Oxygen. It also takes a second or two longer in the lungs for it too absorb vapor when compared too smoking it (gotta hold vapor long than smoke)

I got pretty ripped from a small bowl of the residue on the joint of the whip. Nice high, too.

If you have a lot of resin your vaporizer(whip), couldnt you just turn it up some degrees to make the condensated thc evaporate again, so you dont have to put any weed in it but just vaporize the resin in your vaporizer? :/

Just collect the wand honey. Filtering the vapor just makes more work imo. Why waste time collecting residue that you could have just inhaled in the first place?

use a coil condenser and a vape with an air pump to make pure heat extracted honey oil!!
