So hemp fiber will not effect taste or strength of vapor?

Is "Organic Hemp Fiber Strand Wick for Vape Coils 100% natural" on ebay what I'm looking for?

I use hemp fiber to filter my hits. I don't find that it alters the taste. I then vape off those fibers. After a bunch of hits it starts to taste really bad. I also add oil to hemp fibers and then vape that to exhaustion but after awhile it tastes funky. I don't know if that is residue left in the oil or after the hemp fiber has been hit with hit heat a bunch of times. I need to try vaping just plain hemp fiber for a bunch of hits and see if it alters taste.

My experiments and setup

@John Lewus , thanks for posting your method and pictures.

I have a miniature version of that for my Herbie.
Herbie%20mV%20VXL.jpg

Basket disassembled on the left, basket, rimmed screen, hemp fiber, flexicone.
Assembled version on right.
HT fits directly onto the flexicone WITHOUT the upper half of the Herbie chamber. It's "open face".
I now use a thinner piece of hemp fiber as draw restriction is very sensitive to how thick the fiber is.

I just recently went back to this method and found:
-- glass stays WAY cleaner, like 5 times++ longer between cleanings
-- reclaim looks WAY better as it eliminates the tiny particles of hemp dust that contaminate the goo. I looked closely (magnifying glass) at goo on glass before a filter and it had a lot of tiny particles
-- reclaim now tastes much better ( as the filter traps the particles).
-- vaping the hemp fiber when "full" is not very tastey---cuz it has all those trapped particles but it's worth using.

Hemp filter can be even more valuable for those that stir their load, as that action on the super dried out herb creates a LOT of herb dust, which then gets sucks out with the vapor ( into your HT or whip or mouthpiece or you? ).

I think you posted this in the Herbalizer forum. It looks familiar. Your setup looks like it would concentrate the air flow around the herb for potentially denser hits with that nipple looking thing. Is that your experience? Where exactly are you putting your fiber? Is it at the top of the brown nipple? How hard is it to clean your setup vs just using a Herbie bowl? It seems like there are a lot of parts to deal with that could make it a bit more work than just the Herbie bowl. I guess it could be easier if you use the small basket to scoop the herb but I keep my herb in a Jyarz so it is easier to use a small metal spoon to scoop into the Herbie bowl.

The reason why I have that elongated glass adapter with my hemp filter is to give the air a small amount of distance to cool down to condensate out onto the fiber. I have shorter adapters that put the hemp fiber right at the output but what was happening (worse with an EVO) was that my hemp fiber was revaping the condensed oil. I noticed this because I was still getting hits long after my herb should have been spent and the hits were tasting worse and worse. I like to collect the oil condensate on the fiber over a couple weeks time and then have 2 or 3 kick my butt sessions at high temp. It is a very different surreal effect. It does collect some of the ash as well on that fiber which keeps my clean 5x cleaner like what you noticed but does make vaping the hemp filters a bit worse. If I use two adapters to collect the condensate which is what I am doing right now the second hemp fiber gets a very clean oil condensate with very little ash. Those are a joy to vape off later but take a lot longer to build up.

One thing I want to figure out is how to make this hemb fiber or the oil that collects on my adapter into a potent edible. I am thinking one day to try the solo stem in milk trick I learned about over a year ago. Essentially I would heat up a high fat milk (probably coconut milk in my case) and then clean the oil off my adapter into the coconut milk and drink that. It should be a very potent effect but probably tastes like ass.

Interesting as my goal/setup is for very different. You want max oil to collect on your hemp fiber. I want minimum oil to collect on my hemp, but the hemp should stop that tiny/nasty dried hemp dust from going into my glass or into my mouthpiece or into my mouth.

I've never thought about edibles with the gooey hemp fiber---thanks for the idea. I'm thinking high fat hot chocolate where you stuff the used, oiled hemp fiber into a wire tea basket (used for loose leaf tea) and just cook it in the high fat liquid/chocolate...

The miniVAP flexicone module goes together just like in the pic:
wire basket, load herb, top circular rimmed screen, hemp fiber just above the top screen-shaped in circle just like the top screen, top silicone cone/cover-the Flexicone.
There's almost nothing to clean--wire basket never needs cleaning, top rimmed screen needs a little iso once in awhile, Flexicone easily cleaned in 10 seconds with Q-tip iso.
Top of Herbie chamber is not even used so it never needs cleaning :)

Yes my goal is to capture as much THC in my herb as possible and not waste any as buildup on glass all while providing the least harsh hits my sensitive lungs can handle. I had been letting the hemp fiber build up as gooey as possible to maximize those intense hits later but I think that after a certain point it gets saturated and builds up more slowly. I might try replacing the fiber more often to see if I get tastier recycled hits. That is what stickstones (I think it was him) does.

I am still not convinced yet I need yet another accessory for my Herbie bowl. I have too much to deal with as is. It does look interesting.

Herb gardener...
Right so I figured out how to use the cotton in the wand to act as a filter, and It works well now that someone said the want needs to be sticky first, can't remember who that was but thank you.

It's only been in for about 3 days, and already it's very saturated, how dirty can it be before I can vape it? Or how long can i get away with not vaping it?

And how is best to vape it.?
Just in the adapter?
Or should I just wash in iso and reclaim?

Any help would be much appreciated, Im new to cotton, thanks.

I use degummed hemp fiber but basically the same as cotton.

I like to get the hemp gooey enough that it's worth vaping by itself but not so gooey that it restricts the draw.
I just put the gooey hemp directly in my miniVAP or herbie chamber and go for it.

I'm not much of an iso reclaim person so that is not an option for me.
But if you do iso reclaim already, you could experiment. I just think it's ready to vape on the cotton or hemp so just keep it simple

Thanks, Would I just chuck It in the adapter and vape as normal, would any oil drip down onto my heater?
What temps would I vape this at.
Would I then discard this piece of cotton?

My hemp is a small pancake shaped clump. One side has all of the goo.
I load into a chamber with the cleaner side down---so it would catch any oil that might be drippy.
I then put a small screen on top---just to keep the hemp fiber from flapping around in the breeze.

I go right to max temp and then discard when done as it turns a very dark brown color.

Craft a new hemp fiber pancake and reload

Yes, just take the cotton out and put it in the bowl of your vaporizer. You can use low temperatures or high temperatures, ignition temp of cotton is around 500f, higher than cannabis so it won't burn. When it's done (no more vapor) you can toss it. You can also use cotton to sandwich hash oil and vape it in vaporizers that way.

edit: nevermind lmao

This is just one night's vaping. So do I have to change the cotton every day?

Has that started to impede airflow yet? It's hard to tell just how gooey it is from the picture.
You could flip it 180 with the clean side down and get some more filter action.

Like JL said, how much do you vape/ how much went thru this filter as mine lasts about 10 days to two weeks between changing.

Ok so I only vape abut .4 a day at the most. But this builds up in 2 days, Im using herb not concentrate.
There is no draw restriction at this point but after another load went through it was a much darker brown.

I vaped it last night and it was amazing. Produced loads of vapor for ages. Got me very very high.

Just seems wrong that I get so much so quick

Something sooo wrong must be sooo right!

0.4G is a pretty good amount to vape through and if that is 0.8g for two days then that buildup is probably right. Your air has a bit of distance to cool down so that it should condensate out nicely.

How does it feel to vape off the potent stuff that would have accumulated on your glass piece and probably tossed?

I wash glass with iso so that wouldn't have been wasted. But it gets stuck to the inside of the silicone whip, and that's hard to reclaim.

One question. Should u be doing anything to my cotton first, like heat it or wash it.

No biggy but consider switching from cotton to degummed hemp fiber, now or when your cotton runs out.
Organic cotton is ok but hemp fiber is better IMO---and support those hemp farmers too :)
Hemp filter pictured below, in a miniVAP basket/flexicone module.

I don't vape nearly as much so mine stays for 10 days - 2 weeks before vaping the goo.

Mu glass stays WAY cleaner and any reclaim on the glass is much more golden with much less crude/ particles in the reclaim.

Hemp fiber blends in with Herbie above---it's just to the right of the rimmed screen
