It's not that people voted against healthcare, it's an off-year and the turnout was very low :disgust:

Doesn't really matter what they intended, it matters what the results are. This will be good for no one and terrible, even life threatening, for MANY.

I am no fan of Christie, I think he is a bully and a liar, and I don't think he should be in government. That being said, I have to give him props for this...

While it seems totally out of character for the man I can't help but appreciate his willingness to say it. I can only suggest that this is one of those things that can color your view when it effects you directly. But I still have to give him credit for saying it out load.

@cybrguy - Was that a lead in to his view on why he's against legalizing recreational because it's a gateway drug? Last I looked he said medicinal is OK if tightly controlled but that recreational repeal was something he is very interested in.

Maybe he still felt some shame when he had to hear a sick child's father say, "please don't let my daughter die," right on CNN for all to see.

To be honest, after this forum and with what I have read about the candidates, I could live with EITHER of the 3 Democratic candidates in the White House. I prefer Hilliary because I believe she is the most qualified and the most able to move the country in the direction I would prefer, but ANY of them would be acceptable if for some reason Hillary could not serve.

There is not ONE candidate on the Republican side that I feel that way about. I feel like ANY of them would do more damage to the country than good. This is not (only) because I am a Democrat with Democratic ideals, but is also because I think ALL of the candidates the republicans are fielding are damaged individuals who display characteristics TO THE PUBLIC that are destructive to our society. Not just HOLDING those beliefs, but sharing them as the direction they want to move America.

It is NOT a hard choice for me. I don't think this will shock anyone. :)

But he's a pediatric neurosurgeon. Surely he must know about stuff like this. Goodness, he must know EVERYTHING. ESPECIALLY about God and his plan...

And since "the Ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic was built by experts", and that shows the way of the world, I think its certainly appropriate that your heart surgery be performed by the guy who picks up your trash and your city's next high rise be designed by the fry cook at the local Denny's...

Come on, people, we are talking about the President of the United States. Don't you think some experience in government might be useful?

Schedule III or unscheduled would be better, of course, and sched III is probably most appropriate (don't hurt me), but it's the sched I that is completely in the way of progress. Getting off sched I would allow banking and easier prescribing, and those would be huge improvements. I don't see it coming completely off controlled substances any time soon.

Schedule II/IIN Controlled Substances (2/2N)
Substances in this schedule have a high potential for abuse which may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence.

Examples of Schedule II narcotics include: hydromorphone (Dilaudid®), methadone (Dolophine®), meperidine (Demerol®), oxycodone (OxyContin®, Percocet®), and fentanyl (Sublimaze®, Duragesic®). Other Schedule II narcotics include: morphine, opium, codeine, and hydrocodone.

Examples of Schedule IIN stimulants include: amphetamine (Dexedrine®, Adderall®), methamphetamine (Desoxyn®), and methylphenidate (Ritalin®).

Other Schedule II substances include: amobarbital, glutethimide, and pentobarbital.
From DEA. Putting it on II is a timid, half-ass step. This shit is being sold over the counter and taxed freely in several states and bartered in the capital! Isn't it time the law caught up with reality? Not these half-measures. Why are people pretending this is in the same category as oxycodone? Poppycock! If you are going to stop lying about cannabis, that doesn't mean telling whoppers of a marginally smaller magnitude.

You aren't going to get an argument from me over what SHOULD happen, I don't disagree with you. But I seriously doubt the federal government is gonna go from calling it schedule 1 directly to taking it completely off the controlled substance list. That just doesn't happen and is implausible to me.

I know I am preaching to the choir here, but the idea of taking it off I and putting it on II leaves me with the taste of ashes in my mouth. The federal government has been lying, lying, lying its ass off about this plant since the 30's. After all these years of prohibition and paranoia the idea that the government would substitute a slightly less harmful lie for the grand lie they've told for decades - somehow this fails to move me. Instead of like heroin, now they want to tell us it's like opium. BFD. Now I'm feelin the Bern. I'm beginning to think that tactically it is a good thing for us marijuana activists to support Bernie. He won't get the nomination but more support for him will drag Clinton in directions we want to go.

Baby steps, people, baby steps.

Remember, cannabis has been on Schedule I for a very long time now. Asking the government to drop it off the schedule completely would never happen.

Moving it to Schedule II is big step in the right direction. First, it will help alleviate the problems that growers and dispensaries in legal states have been having with banking and finances. Second, it will open the doors for U.S. home-grown (no pun intended) studies and scientific investigations of this wonderful plant. Given time on schedule II, what we all know already will be confirmed over and over again. I think once that happens and more and more people see the real value of cannabis, then it will eventually move from schedule II to schedule III.

But NOTHING will happen as long as it stays on schedule I.
