Vapman

Just went for a big walk, would normally put a joint in each ear... Instead took the egg for a walk. Do you need to take extra herb and re load on the go? Yes and the torch is hard to see in the bright australian summer sun... But much much muchhhhh better than a joint.
Also only one person yesterday had a go and didn't like... Couldn't work it out and said its a crack pipe. Was also drunk, so opinion does not count! Haha.

@Tommy10 I take a small tin of ground herb with me when I'm on the go. The tin is round and the same diameter as the bottom of the egg. Now that I have the magnet on the bottom on my egg the tin just sticks to the bottom. Makes it very easy to carry in my pocket.

Also, I can't believe someone thinks this thing looks like a crack pipe. It's a beautiful piece of engineering.

By far the most common way to consume cannabis in Australia goes like this. You get 1gram of grass, you get 1 smoke, you combine the two in a coffe grinder or dust fine with scissors.
You then pack a single bowl of like .05-.1 and smoke it like a snapper not packing big bowls and sharing, not hitting the same bowl twice. To me the vapman is the perfect vape for people of this culture! The hammer is good in this regards and I certainly don't kind the idea of mutipul hit bowls but some find it strange.
The ritual of the vapman is similar and from what I have been seeing, you can pack small single rip bowls and rip it through a bong. With just a little more work unpacking and repacking which I find fun, and a bit to learn on the torch. I'll have to take the girl for another trip because initial impressions were good. My mates have a volcano and a HA that they rarely use, mostly when I come around and request it. They do not smoke joints and do not smoke weed green and I can see the vapman winning hearts. I think the lotus would also be a good converter in these cases too. Anyone with both that can tell me, does the lotus work similar? And you they achieve similar hit sizes? I am so surprised what this little thing can pull out of a tiny about of green.

And yes nugg I'm sure it was a case of hurt drunken ego when one wouldn't wrap their mind around the easily conquered learning curve haha!

Here's another idea for packing bud along with your VM. Get some of these vials, commonly called 'centrifuge tubes':
http://www.ebay.com/itm/100PCS-1-5m...125147?hash=item1ea3eb4a9b:g:kLIAAOSwgNRV75Nd

They enough to load the bowl a couple of times, keep prepared herb fresh (vapor tight), are easy to 'snap open' with one hand, and you can stack them standing up on the rim of the VM then snap the egg top on. Helps kill the rattle too.

I keep one or two in the egg with the VM (even if not using it actively), so it's ready to go (as long as I have a torch in the other pocket of course.

That's awesome! Think my first purchase must be a wooden WPA of some sort. It sits in airtight but gets stuck and you can't just pull it out from the body. So it's easier to remove the whole downstem... Most people's bongs here have metal non removable downstems so I think that's the hardest part for them... Strange as that sounds!

When I messed with WTs I used a bubbler, so the downstem didn't come out. I didn't have trouble with it sticking but I also put an o-ring on the mid section (just behind the lip) to make the seal easier. It keeps the wood off the glass. You might try that?

Cheers tried an o ring, but because it's on the 45 it won't sit in too well without some pressure.. And a little pressure locks it in. I think a nice little bubble would be nice but I also like the way you can hold it and clearly see the flame on the bowl as you hit it in the big beaker, as I think a little bit of torch during the hit is nice although the less than I anticipated. certainly less than the hammer where I pre heat hit and hold the flame down almost the entire draw.

This is the reason I like the long 18/14 reducer. I stick the middle section in the reducer and leave it there for the whole session. I remove the assembly from the bong to heat it up then just drop it back in and take the hit.

Hit up the cheap bubbler thread and find something you like with the ground glass joints. Much better than the aluminum down stem and rubber gromet that most Aussies are a custom too.

Using a glass bong with glass 18/14 reduced, removing the body from the stem to clear the hit is difficult.

So, uh, finally reporting in, since I got the VM in the mail yesterday. Only got to open it about 6pm, but just had to try it out. I understand the :science: smiley now completely. I can already tell that there are a lot of variables that need trying with this!

DH said it was too early for him, so I started messing around with it. I haven't got my grinder yet, so scissors had to do. The process was easy enough for a noob like me, although I forgot about the 2 seconds warm up initially. Was immediately surprised by the taste of the herb. Really nice actually! The wood taste was alright too. I handed it over the table, and my love gave it a shot, and for some reason thought I'd packed it with chamomile, so he was surprised for a different reason. lol

We both experimented a few times, he combusted first, but it wasn't a big deal. Cleaned out easy. Tried again, got many more hits before I forgot to count and combusted too.

I can say, I've never been so high, ever. It sneaks up on you! It was more an active high, too, not so much couch lock, heaps and heaps of cotton mouth (I've never been so thirsty!), it lasted ages, so did the herb! I love how little it uses, but most of all the massive effect it produced with those small amounts!

It took me half a day smoking with the pipe to get me 3/4ths of the place I got to yesterday evening in 1 and a half shared VM bowls that were fun to do and much nicer tasting!! One hit probably won't convince a noobie, as it's a slower reaction, plus they might not want to be convinced.. But for me, I'm blown away by it. I've read reviews of what feels like a million vapes, and I read that line without really knowing what they mean, but now I know! I'm surprised, no amazed, by the Vapman.

So, call me a light weight, but I didn't have the ability to report in last night. Besides, I was kinda busy. ;) I'll never smoke again, that's for damn sure! That was .. Words fail me.. I'm.. Speechless. :)

So we'll put you down on the 'glad you got one' side?

Enjoy the little rascal. It can do some amazing things but you have to control the action if you want that to happen on demand.

decided to read this thread from the start and i can't believe how long VAPMAN has been around!
i could have got this back when i was shopping for my first vaporizer?
crazy how this thread snowballed... the first 2 pages alone are like 2008-2011 or 2012.
what happened that made everyone realize, hey, vapman exists?!

excitedly awaiting the delivery of my very own vapman...

For me, it was a willingness to consider a torch powered vape over batteries. I'd automatically dismissed them all initially, but I can't adequately express just how wrong I was! The Vapman needs it's own category, because you don't heat n hit at the same time! That was a big deciding factor for me.

So we'll put you down on the 'glad you got one' side?

Hehe. :haw: Yeah..

congrats on getting your Vapman . it seem that almost everyone uses too much heat when they are learning to use it. luckily it has a short learning curve. I actually like lower vape temperatures from most of my units. I don't just want one flavor hit when I can get several, plus it's so fun to use the vapman that I don't want my session to end too quickly. using less heat / flame lets me extend my bowl up to 15 pulls, more like smoking a cigar. not that I combust anything anymore...

Yeah, the secret kinda got out all right. We tried to keep it quiet, of course, but hard to keep it under wraps you know.

If you like 'outside the box thinking' there used to be a friction driven one. You'd hook it to a doorknob, yank the string a few times, and make vapor. Apparently didn't sell well, I suspect it's a lot of work compared to Butane.

And not to quibble, but don't you really mean you're excitedly awaiting the deliver of your FIRST VM? Chances are real good that's the way it's gonna work out you know.

Get your torch filled, herb ground and stand ready. Lucky you seem to be the kind that makes friends fast......so does VM.

Regards,

Oh, will it be an issue if I use a Blazer GB2001 torch? I always used it for my Lotus and Lily on the lowest flame setting. Ran a bit hot if you let the flame a little close to the unit but if not always worked great and super fast too. any reason i should avoid doing something like this with the vapman?

Okay guys, new goal. Might go a week without unpacking another vape. I really am loving this thing. Overall out of my vapes it's does not blow the biggest clouds, I'd say the solo and hammer have nicer flavour the HA is much easier to use although it tops the VG alround, but it is seemingly my favourite to use so far! Torches are being annoying but I'll fix that in the future! And the effects of this this, been getting me past a 3/10 with 2 bowls every time for the last two days.... And how sexy!? Realllly sexy!

I'd pass. I've got one, entirely too big for the target IMO. You'll be hitting wood as well. You want something about 1/4 that size, maybe less. Even dialed down (where the heat is lower but harder to control) it's still way too wide.

This is my favorite unit, and at a very attractive price. Perhaps you can find something similar locally? Cigar shops are good places. The torch types that come straight up can sometimes be used, but roasting your thumb can be an issue, the backblast from several second heating sessions can be several seconds long.....

Same part, two different sources subject to being slow. Given the under $3 shipped I suggest you order one or two from both? Tough little guys, I have yet to wear one out or break one (except a safety latch on one, it still works). Very handy, I have several in key places and have given half a dozen or more away over the years.

@Nugg So far, I used only a few vapmen for my personal use and this I did deliberately to test the units in terms of durability. The very first one which really worked well already was this one here, it is the second prototype I made back in 2005. The pins for the locking system are made of bamboo!

xmlk7l.jpg

The next prototype was this one here, it has already the final shape but the pins are still made of bamboo. This one I used until I had the production going with the first series which took about six months time. Originally, the two steel springs were made manually but I replaced these later with the final springs made by the supplier. Therefore it is not to 100% the original prototype but almost. Everytime I added something new I had to test it and this keeps going on until today. Anyway, this one is the first vapman as we know it today! BTW, the wood is european walnut.

2m28aqe.jpg

Soon after the production was set up, I started with special woods, one of my favorites is this one made of an Australian wood which name I don't know or never knew, I think. I forgot if I forgot the name...
Check out the mouthpiece, also an Australian super hard wood. Did I ever mention that I love woods?:D

23joj1c.jpg

Here is another one I won't sell, someone gave me a piece of very, very dark African wood, it is really black and heavy as anything, it is even heavier than the normal ebony I get from my wood supplier.
Again, vapmen made of "special" woods don't work better than others, it is all for the love of woods
and the beauty of nature, really. My personal vaporizer is a yew tree model since almost two years, I like
the medium heavy woods best, they are ideal for vapman in terms of heat insulation and strength.

1iixk9.jpg

Hopefully the story of vapman will go on...:)

Awesome post.

I would love to see the bottom of the 1st prototype. Does it have the same crucible and air tubes?

Exactly! Way back when, I was looking at the vapman vs the Lotus and what made me go with the vapman was that I didn't have to heat while drawing.

I didn't even consider a vapor genie because I couldn't fathom sucking on butane. That's plain weird...

I've said this too many times before: the ritual of the vapman is the best. It is what makes it such an intimate experience, and what makes you stay with it for so long.

.03tasted popcorn at the end and abv was very dark but couldn't see or taste burning. Looks like combustion but I'm confident it wasn't. As we all know the slightest burn and you taste it.
Impressive that .03can get you one huge rip yea a nice .05 and direct draw 5 nice hits!

Two bits of rolled up broken peices. Large load and it's the first hit so pretty whispy but flavour is great!!
