Man IGG even issued a statement saying anyone who hasn't received their backers contribution reware yet can get a refund immediately. This should speed things up as I'm Dec 11. Anybody with the same contribution date got their e-mail confirmation from GHL yet?

Never heard of this before, do you mind posting a link. It would IMO be quite silly to cancel your order at this point, so close to the finish line.

They are up to Dec 1st, so you still have a little ways to go. I imagine you should get a confirmation later this month.

Crowd funding doesn't work like that. Even if it does now it certainly didn't back in 2013 when the campaign ran. There's no money to refund since you didn't buy a product. You contributed to a startup company to fund their making of vaporizers. The only stipulation is that when and if they are able to make a finished product they'll give you one a gift as thanks for supporting their company. If shit falls though or goes wrong (not them running off with the money), too bad. Don't put important money into crowd funding since you may never see anything for it.

Preorders are a different story, however.

Good Lord.

This is, unreal. It's just mind boggling. Why do they have to do this. I'm frustrated for you.

And good for you for spending the extra cash, man. I will prob do the same if I ever get my confirmation emails. Hard work deserves perks. Spoil yourself.

Edit: oh, and congrats on the house!
Thank you, and I know for real, the BS with them never ends. If I have my GHs for Friday or Saturday $28 is a drop in the bucket to the drool everyone else will be having over them. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who talked up how great this vape will be to all my friends over the last two years. I mean sure I was laughed out of the room for the last year but now I'll be the one laughing. Bought myself an extra one just to let my friends try out while they're visiting but it remain in my property. They had their chance to add on a hopper to my order. Sad part is only one friend took me up on my generous offer.

Trying to think of a polite way to word this.....

....can you back up that statement...?

Normally with crowd funding you do no get your company donation back. You donated to the good of the company basically. You would get the benefit of a unit as a gift if the company succeeds. If you ordered a unit and decided you didn't want one, then you would get a refund.

Crowd funding you are investing in a company with no promised return.

Nvm the email issued a few months back was what I was regarding. I guess I misread the part where they said they would issue refunds only if the campaign hasn't ended. They want all finished crowdfunded projects to fulfill their contributions. Sorry about that folks. I should've read a little more carefully.

My mistakes for the false statements made earlier.

So who here has sent in their Grasshopper for warranty servicing? Did you pay for shipping to them? They told me we are required and responsible for sending it in to GHL. Is this correct? I really thought that there would be some return labeled mailed to me so I can print and send it in immediately if grasshopper faces issues.

At first they gave you a label to return it and shipped out a new unit as soon as they had your confirmation that you shipped.

Recently, I'm guessing due to the massive amount of failing hoppers, they require you to send everything in and pay for shipping yourself before they'll send you a new one. Good old fashioned quality customer service from your good friends at GHL.

Its not necessarily unexpected, but is certainly disappointing to see them change this policy. Many others do this too, but if you are shipped a defective product, or one that breaks quickly with normal use, its ridiculous for you to have to pay to send it back imo. Theyre small and can't afford it, so I can appreciate it a bit more here, than with Arizer (gave up on them after losing so much money shipping Solos back). It's not that much money but it just adds to the overall cost which just gets pretty annoying on principle, more than anything else

I don't believe they can't afford it. They haven't even shipped a fraction of the total orders and they have had pre order money flowing in this entire time.

You can still go give them your money for a hopper right now. It probably even still says that the estimated ship date is December 2015 .

Edit: Wow I was just kidding about the December date probably still being there but I just checked and it actually is. Wow.

I'd rather you pay that small shipping charge than have them pay it and everyone else who backed it end up not receiving their unit(s).

I feel that it ridicules us as crowdfunders. It should have been explained during indiegogo stages before they released the first batches. I guess it's okay to have us pay that small fee but hey they could have put that into perspective and possibly come up with the idea of including a return label inside the package just in case if anything were to happen due to failures, then we could simply box it back up in the same box it came with and just ship it to them immediately. As well as include a copy of the contribution on paper like most products shipped would include.

I just went to Grasshopper site to look for shipping info. I couldn't find anything on the site except for explicit language in the attached owners manual under Warranty. It is unequivocal that shipping charges are the device owners responsibility. Assuming the manual hasn't changed, ghl covering shipping charges for anyone was just them being nice and going above and beyond.

It's still a shitty policy to have regardless imo

If you'll read the post you quoted you'll see I never implied that was their strict policy just that that is what had been happening for quite some time before the sudden shift. And it was what was happening.

Not very nice to play favorites with customers anyway. Who deserves free shipping and who doesn't?

I sort of agree with you. I hedge because I'm basing my opinion on the anecdotal info on this site from some fc'ers with warranty claims. But I don't know if everyone with a warranty claim to date got their shipping covered by ghl.
