Got a reply from VXL wanting me to pay return shipping. I replied that I don't think I should have to pay to return a defective product for repair and will wait for another reply.

Edit: Got a response and a label, but they also said something I'm not very happy about. They said I should be aware that them opening it could cause defects down the road...why is that something a customer with a full warranty should be aware of? They're also trying to tell me they aren't sure if there's actually something wrong with it because they think I'm just used to the original.

Well if a 30 minute heat up for mediocre vapor isn't a defect I really fucked up not taking advantage of their refund program during the first month.

Seems to me like they need to put a heavier focus on quality control. I wonder if they had so many problems before moving manufacturing in-house (or have they yet?).

Its concerning that there are so many "notes" theyve gotta take for so many people in order to keep customers happy down the line.

Personally, I'd be really, really pissed if I was told that I pretty much am fucked down the line becuse i was sent a defective unit to begin with.

And its obviously a defect. My unit heats up and rips within 5 minutes.

So today I got an email back from Jeff from VapeXhale regarding the dial postion being at 11 O Clock. This is what he said:

"We have received a couple of reports of the dial knob being off, the reason being that our shop put it on inaccurately. The notch is the middle position, so if it doesn't bother you, it will not affect function. If you would like to try and adjust it, the knob uses a small allen wrench to tighten and loosen it, otherwise if you should ever need to send your unit in for service, we could adjust it then."

So the knobs us new guys got during the sale were put on incorrectly? He also went on to say that the unit isn't calibrated any higher or lower than a unit than a "Noon Notch Unit". But how can this be if my min and max clock postions are 6 and 4 and others here have said their min and max clock positions are 7 and 5? I've seen people in this thread who have "Noon Notch Unit's and claim their unit's combust when I've left my Evo on Max setting 4 o clock for nearly 30 mins.

Yesterday I noticed the lights flashing green and red like crazy after reaching the noon temp. This isn't the first time this has happened so it if continues maybe I'll send the unit in and have the knob adjusted as well.

Not really but you have to understand what you are doing. For basic cleaning an alcohol wipe wrapped around a tool of some kind will suffice. If deeper cleaning is necessary because you get oil further down past the restrictions then a wash bottle with ISO and a plug or balloon on the ends will work. You just have to make sure you don't dump ISO through the crumb shield into the heater compartment or the lower electronics bay.

Wait what?!? We can clean the glass tube inside the unit? Why wasn't this mentioned in the instructions? Is it even removable? Or do we just insert a brush of some kind? Love to see some pics if you got them? Sorry about being a noob, I just got my evo last week and it's just hard finding time to skim through this enormous thread.. I'm sure it's been covered already.

You can clean the bamboo, but you can't remove it. It shouldn't need cleaned all that much. I q tip ISO scrubbed my top.

Regarding the 6-4, 7-5 thing...they said the notch is the middle position. So, if your notch is in the 11, count 5 steps back and your at 6. Count 5 steps forward to 4. If your at 12, count 5 steps forward to 5, 5 back to 7. I'm high but I think what he's saying, if they mounted a clock on the wall, they're one tick left and 1 o clock is at the noon position, but the notch is at noon on the clock, so it's at the 11 position. Make sense? That's how I interpret it anyways since they say function isn't affected.

No, that sounds completely normal to me. I can get vapor in like 3 minutes if I just heat it up to the max.

I still find my theory of the white line being drawn one hour off on the knob. I found out there a second notch on the knob handle that enables the knob to be only installed one way.

He also went on to say that the unit isn't calibrated any higher or lower than a unit than a "Noon Notch Unit". But how can this be if my min and max clock postions are 6 and 4 and others here have said their min and max clock positions are 7 and 5?
That means the unit reaches the same temps on max/min/notch as others. That means to translate the dial to a noon-notch unit, you just add one hour. Yours 6 and 4 is my 7 and 5 and yours 11 is my noon. It would be that way either if the line was off or the knob was somehow installed off.

You can't remove the bamboo. It is good to give is some cleaning like at least once a year. It typically doesn't get dirty very fast. It get dirty faster when you often stopp pulling on hydratube without removing it, then the backpressure pushes some vapor and particles into the bamboo and them bake in. So if you want to keep it clean longer just disconnect the EVO from the waterpiece before ending the pull. As for the cleaning - it can be tricky. Pour a tiny bit of iso in the bamboo and plug in in the bottom when in gets in. The plug the top, shake, release the top and then release the bottom to let it out. Then repeat with water, then dry it out and then carefully slowly heat it up again. Be very careful with pouring the iso in, it takes only few drops, when I first cleaned my OG Cloud I accidentaly poured a little more than I should and flooded the electronics with it. That was not good. And be very thorough with the drying. You don't want your glass to crack when it get hot when there's still water in there.

No don't worry man, you aren't too high.. I am!!!:freak:

Yeah that is what I was saying. So if the clock is off by one it's going to be one off both left and right on the dial. This is why Noon Units are 5 and 7 and 11 O clock units like mine are 4 and 6. So if I do send the unit in and they adjust the knob.. that would bump my max temp up by one? I just don't know if the Noon position stills stays the same at 350F or does it bump up all dial settings?

I know I shouldn't be worried over it because the unit works fantastic at 11 and 12 but it still bothers me. What does everyone else think? If I get my knob adjusted from 11 to 12... will my dial temps still stay the same (and give me access to the 5 and 7 settings) or will everything be bumped up?

That means the unit reaches the same temps on max/min/notch as others. That means to translate the dial to a noon-notch unit, you just add one hour. Yours 6 and 4 is my 7 and 5 and yours 11 is my noon. It would be that way either if the line was off or the knob was somehow installed off.

Thanks for the reply. I just want to make sure I'm understanding you right. You're saying that the temperatures will all be the same regardless if we have an 11 or 12 Notch Unit? That would make sense but what about me not having access to that 7 O clock setting? Seems to me unless the dial is adjusted, I wouldn't even have access to that dial setting right? Not sure what the actual temperature is at the 7 o clock setting but if it can release more goodies from my strains and make my material go even further than I'm all for it.

Thanks for clearing things up about the bamboo and the cleaning tips as well! I didn't think it would come out with the electronic components and the green and red lights and all. I guess I either need a new longer brush or get some longer Q tips.

If having a notch at 11 is the same as having a notch at 12, then the minimum and maximum should also be equal, just stopping at differing positions on the dial.
The dial has simply been fitted offset. You could undo the dial, set it straight and have the notch at 12.. The temperatures/calibration should remain the same.

[edit] still no sign of the lower prices reaching the UK yet

Hi, does anyone know how true are those rumours about new digital version of Cloud Evo? Any ideas how soon may this happen?

I was about to pull the trigger and then boom people start talking about new model being released. So I did not make this purchase at that time. Hate wen this happen. Since I just started my first own grow I made a promise to myself not to touch dealer weed until the harvest (I live in the UK). Just wondering that maybe in 4-5 month time there will be a new EVO? What do you guys know?

I recieved a return email about my crack in my hydratree..jeff told me i could sent it back and get a replacement but his exact words were that the hydratrees that they are offering are the bottom of the barrell and they are clearing them out..that there is a chance i could get another defect..so i asked if i could just get a different hyrdratube..im none too happy about being sold bottom of barrell anything..but we shall see..especially glass with ctack that could get worse..glad i looked closer at mine.

meh. :rolleyes::\:ugh:
@VapeFiend.com have just listed the Hydrabomb tube separately for the first time...
But they're still at the old price of £190 (or the equivalent of 287.319 US Dollars) :( :disgust: :mental:
It is quite said to see how high the prices are here compared to the sale they just had at VXL. We payed nearly $800 for an EVO HT package, comparing that to the $300 deal they just had going at VXL made me feel like a bit of a chump.

Yeah, it was a bit of a kick in the nads to see it for around half what I paid a week previous lol
I'm wondering if or when the lower price point will ever make it to these shores.
If they do, I might buy another HT, or other accessories..

I'd like to try a dry mouthpiece too, but the image on @VapeFiend.com looks different (much longer) to the one on VapeXhale.
I didn't realise there were different sizes/designs and I think I prefer the shorter one

@Socks And Sandals just what i assumed in my first post
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/vapexhale-cloud-evo.11357/page-358#post-873517
the temperature spectrum is just shifted by one hour to the left so your 4 o´clock position would be the same temp as my 5 o´clock(Top end). your 6 o´clock equals my 7 o´clock.

So if I do send the unit in and they adjust the knob.. that would bump my max temp up by one? I just don't know if the Noon position stills stays the same at 350°F or does it bump up all dial settings?

No it would not pump up your temp. Your 11 o´clock position should be 350°F and 4 o´clock 500°F (approximately). So where the notch is should be the middle of the 200-500°F temp spectrum.

edit: @Pyr0 dry mouthpiece is really nice ... I got a short one from the pulse bubbler witch I always stack on top of 2 adapters so it will be longer, too me it`s much better this way.

As I sent my first Evo in for being faulty, I brought a replacement unit with a dry mouthpiece from them to compare to the HT. I got the longer one from the two you're referring to. I tried it once and although I do enjoy being able to taste the material more, I much prefer the experience of the HT. I could take longer draws and I just loved watching the clouds build up in the turbine.
I can't even use my Volcano anymore, tried it on temp 6 for one bag and my throat felt like ass (dry and scratchy).

hmmm... perhaps I'll just stick with water conditioning the vapour then instead :)

I was playing around the other day with my phone and shot a slow mo vid of the turbine, and I can see that one or two of the slots don't work as well as the others.

I'd like to try the hydrabomb.... but not for £190 lol

Damn wasn't told that, mine was just delivered. If I get a hydratree that's even worse than my last one im going to be pretty upset, better work at least

@Frank Reynolds - as you can imagine, vape manufacturers often have to deal with a lot of fuck ups when it comes to customers, and sometimes it makes them not promise things quickly. I'm confident once they get your unit they will see it is not working well, as we have pre-diagnosed it here.

As to the 11 o'clock units...they work the same as the other units, just shift your settings one hour earlier. I don't like it and understand it bugging some, but they work just fine. More than anything it says there is still a need for tighter manufacturing practices.

That is EXTREMELY shitty. If I were you I'd ask for a refund and snag one for 40 bucks from DHgate that
isn't bottom of the barrel.

Pretty sad when China glass is more guaranteed than American.

Its not mentioned because there is room for error and VXL would be responsible for taking care of the mistakes. For most situations a long, wooden, cotton swab or spindled paper towel with a little ISO will work fine. If you get oil below the restrictions and full immersion is necessary the best solution I saw was to put a small balloon on the bottom end, put in some ISO, put another small balloon on the upper end and swish the ISO up and down the tube, then take the bottom off and drain when done. Rinse with fresh balloons and water, then dry completely before use.

Got a much better reply after my last message to VXL explaining that there is no doubt something wrong with my unit. Also informed them that I'm an idiot and forgot to pack the repair slip when I shipped it.

Jeff said:
No problem, I can forward the slip to our shop team and have them print it out. We'll get your unit calibrated hotter and get it returned to you as quickly as possible.
