The HI

Yeah @KidFated. they fit inside the core and its pretty air tight. It means less cold air mixes in and you get more heat to the load.

I like to take big hits through water and I like my abv to be dark brown so my opinions are biased towards that sort of setup :D

Sometimes I pack my SS wong and take a dry hit before I stick it in my water tool and fully extract it. I keep the tip at a 45 degree angle to the core so it does fully seal. This gives you the low temp for a lovely flavoursome hit.

Is Alan still making the replacement heaters for LSV's or is it all HI all the time now?

I got to try a friend's HI with the glass core, but he almost never uses it because he says its too difficult to get clouds with. it's useful for dry hits and makes some pretty tasty dry hits but i prefer to vape thru water. the glass HI could barely make any vapor in any of the bongs but his Underdog would milk a bong right up. could it be something with his setup or is this because he has the glass core HI? we were using it with a VVPS at 12.50v, so I don't think lack of power was an issue.

chillin on the couch, sippin off a 22 ounce.
I find the rule of thumb is to usually go a full volt higher when using the glass core vs the stainless.

When using a bong attachment, both the glass and SS produce equally massive clouds, but there is a somewhat steep learning curve to using each really effectively... my two cents although I much prefer the glass core btw!

I'm hoping to use it with a variety of smaller recyclers & i have 1 bigger bong.
Love to hit dry but i have a portable i use dry a lot, rarely by the time i'm home do i want dry hits.

edit: @JJ420 guess what man lmao.... i called my friend with the glass HI.... i told him about your post, where you said rule of thumb was set it a volt higher, so he pauses for a second and is like aight ill try this out..... calls me back 10 minutes later "HOLY SHIT BRO I'VE NEVER GOT THIS ONE TO RIP LIKE THIS" just going on and on.... good review?

@Likes2vape - Glad you like the work. It is fun creating it. I love how the natural lines in the wood worked out for the Master Shake hands.

@virtualpurple - The Master Shake was fun to make. So many different shapes are possible.

@lemmeadem - Thanks for the kind words. It is fun to bring joy to others. There has been discussion of those inexpensive dimmer units before. They do work to reduce the voltage, but there is no way to be certain of the precise output voltage. The knob is fairly large and can accidentally be bumped. A nice VVPS is a good investment.

@Slow Draw McGraw - Glad to hear you are enjoying your HI.

@rosedale - Thanks for the photo post. Will have your tubes finished shortly.

@KidFated. - Thanks for posting the photo. Your unit has a stainless steel heater cover. I don't anticipate the two tone color change with the new heater cover style. The outer sleeve of the old core design was responsible for conducting the heat which caused the upper part to darken. The new design only heats the sides of the wood body with radiant heat which is not sufficient to cause charring as with conduction.

@Hot Dog Day 187 - I make a stainless steel heater cover for the LSV that allows it to work with all of my roasting tubes. It will still work with the glass heater cover installed. I make a wooden stand for the LSV. I make a lot more than just HI parts.
I also make tubes for the MFLB and Iolite. Have been connecting 18/14mm glass fittings together to create roasting tubes with two screens to capture the material. They will work with any vaporizer that has an 18/14mm connection. Most of my HI roasting tubes also work with the TT, UD, and enano.
Glad to hear your friend was able to get some larger clouds from his glass heater cover HI using a higher voltage. I generally recommend a stainless steel heater cover for the HI unless someone wants the lower temperature for better flavor. The stainless steel heater cover will always produce much bigger clouds than the glass heater cover / hybrid.

Sorry to go off topic, but I bugged said friend yesterday to borrow his silicone roasting tube and one of his WonGs that fits it to use with my SSV after being inspired by @Tweak in the SSV thread.

It's a lot of fun with the SSV because it can squish into the top of the silicone tube and make a nice seal, then go back to normal when I'm done.

I'm just finding that i'm dirtying up the basket screen awful quick and as a result have been torching it after every 5-6 bowls or else I get almost no airflow and hitting thru it is a near impossibility.

Does anyone know if there are nice ceramic screens or something that can fit inside a silicon roasting tube? I'd sure love to just do away with metal entirely in my vaping path. The silicon roasting tubes are awful nice with the SSV. I imagine it would be a similarly awesome experience with a glass core HI.

For someone looking for the healthiest, purest, non-toxic, high quality vapor, would you guys recommend the HI, another log vape like the e-nano, daisy, a torch vape like the lotus, or the vapexhale cloud evo table vaporizer which has an all glass pathway? Appreciate the help!

And if you do recommend the HI first, where can I buy it?

Hey dude,

Alan has an email (toastytop website) that he's responsive with, he can give you a lot of detail about the HI and other logs actually. Emailing is how you get on the waitlist, and you can ask if he has any older model HI left to sell too.

(Also Daisy is a torch vape too, like Lotus but different- direct heat from flame vs heating metal plate- I think you'd dig Daisy a whole lot man, but can't really go wrong with logs either)

I know what you mean @KidFated. I'm sitting here admiring mine right now.

Alans work is pretty awesome, both the HI and the stems are real works of art. Haven't had a chance to use mine yet... Tonight's the night right after I eat this pizza... ought to be a goooood evening.

HI!

So happy to see everyone getting and enjoying their HIsabers. In many ways, it seems like yesterday I got my first HIsaber and became a JedHI. But I'm well over 3 years into it now.

To the new owners, prepare for years of solid and unique performance.

Cheers, JedHIs!
