Is there any chance of inhalation from what a torch flame produces?
According to VaporGenie.com, when butane combusts it only produces carbon dioxide and water, so there's nothing toxic to inhale. I use my torch lighter with my VaporGenie all the time and it's great.

So the glass VaporGenies were finally back in stock and I ordered one immediately! I've had it a couple days now and it was hard at first, but after a couple bowls I'm starting to get the hang of it :D

Check out the first hit of my fourth bowl:

I'm loving it so far :)

Oh man reading this thread makes me want to drop another hunderd on one o these suckers, specially all the vape porn about how the milk tastes like heaven made a baby with a bowl full of happyness.
Would anyone care to compare the "Happyness Levels" after vaping with the handcarved VG, Glass VG and the VS?

When I made the transition form the VS to the VG I definitely noticed a difference in the "velocity" of the high, probably as a result of the different styles of execution. Is there another shift in such style and "velocity" with the Glass VG?

Man I love my wordy, wordy posts...haha...:science:
Never used the VS but the Glass VG is like the wooden one but with a cleaner taste. The taste is pure goodness. The velocity of the highs are similar but you can pull much larger and tastier clouds of vap with the glass version.

nice video :) im glad you like gorgeous GlassVG as I did and as I miss now :'(
I see youre using torch lighter and you heat the bowl in quite distance .. not so close to the filter as I though it would be needed.. thats good news.
Could you make a more detailed video of heating the 'cold' vaporgenie from the beginning? Im interested in how much time you need to heat it with jet lighter and from what distance.

ben said in this thread in relation to jet lighter:

Ben said:
I 'pre-heat' the glass and ceramic filter alone with the jet flame lighter and, after afew seconds, I put it on the main part. This allows first to draw 1 or 2 times with no heating at all ... very flavonod and smoooth draws.
so maybe it will help you but I am not sure about how resistant can be that glass to jet-lighter's hot temperatures.... has some1 got experiences with this?

The glass doesn't get very hot, even when using a torch lighter, but the little VaporGenie logo on the glass stopper (top piece) gets very hot sometimes. I accidentally touched it last night and my finger hurt for a few minutes, but it still wasn't that bad. The glass never feels as hot as the top piece of my classic VG.

About your other question: Just experiment with it! It's easy to figure out how to use the torch lighter once you actually have one. It really is a lot easier to use than a bic, and I haven't burnt the herb since the day I got the torch and had to learn to use it.

VaporGenies are so much fun :D

Whew...the self control it'll take not to buy one of these...:o

Can a double torch flame lighter be used on this, would it matter?
How big is the bowl head, are they they about the size of a 14mm?

It can be done with a torch but takes lots of practice. I have yet to try to master it but I might so I can use the wooden VG on the disc golf course.

The topper opening is about as big as a nickel.

Ok I tried again now that I am better with the VG with a flame and it was super easy. In fact I liked it so much I am going to pick up one of these:

With can do both flame and torch.

Hello to all vaporizers fans,

i just want to share my experience about portables vaporizers and the VaporGenie Glass.(sorry for my english)

I have tried all majors models and believe me, i have keep only one : VaporGenie Glass (VGG) !
This thing is simply amazing!!!! (Photos : http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=1140)

I have tried :

- Wood VaporGenie -> great for herbs but more complicated for resin, and not so easy to clean.
- VapBong -> forget that, it's a toy.
- Essential VAAAPP -> This is not real vaporization, it's conduction type, not convection type.
Practically imossible to not burn the material, very bad control of temperature, a hell to clean, especially if
you vaporize resin....
- VapMan -> Not bad, but very complicated for resin, outsider.
- VaporStar -> Good idea, easy and very portative (if you use it with a small pipe of course) but major drawback : the taste is not so good and i suspect combination of your gas lighter directly in the hole of the cap and the heat of the metal to give a strange taste. The vapor is hot, and you can burn material very easy so.....The AVG at the end seems to be almost burn, brown very dark...I think it vaporize but in the high range of the temperature....not so good
- LaunchBox -> very poor vapor, and it's make cough, impossible to vaporize resin (screens clog directly)
- IOLite -> 5 mins minimum before having vapor, is it a joke ??? What i need with a portative model
is that it runs quick !!!!
- Eagle Bill Shake 'n' Vape -> same as Essential VAAAPP it's conduction type, it makes essentialy smoke -> heresy for us !!!!!!

Why i love my GlassVaporGenie and it's the best portable model ? (ok i have not try the new Volatizer VM3 Portable Vaporizer, but it's $449 !!!! )

1) It produces REAL bigs clouds of REAL vapor in 3 seconds !!!!!
You have to put the lighter flame far away than with the wood version, i suggest to use a torch lighter style, it's 200 times easy than a conventionnal lighter, but be careful to put the end of the flame at 1,5 cm or more from the ceramic filter, if not ---> goes burn !

2) It can vaporize herbs AND resin ! For all models of vaporizers with screens, i use the standard screen if i vaporize herb, but i add 3 more screens for resin. Dont' forget to shred resin very thin (with a rasp or other)
Or you can use of course only one extra screen or two with a bed of AVG.

3) The taste of the glass is so invisible, that your taste only what your material ! All others models have +/-strange taste.....

4) The size of the bowl is great !

5) Dont forget that all models needs to be cleaned periodically. Plenty of products exist for the glass, and cleaning VGG is so easy !!! Personnaly, i let the VGG stays 15mins with hot water and Limpuro Bio, after that i shake the pipe and miracle -> it's as clean as the first day!! So 100% cleanable !!

6) With this thing i have succeded to STOP TOBACCO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7) No fuc**ing batterys need, no xxx bottles of gas...,you can use it with a standard lighter.

So, now the drawbacks............

First, the aspect of the pipe looks like a pipe for smoking crack/hero or whatever .....
I have planned to command a custom glass pipe at wongbong.com to make a more small pipe, but for use with the ceramic filter of the VGG. I hope that it will be the ultimate portable vaporizer...

Glass is of course fragile, but it's borosilicate so not SO fragile.

That's all !!

If you like vapor and want to go vapor, you just can't regret to have this thing!

Thanks to all FC users, without you, i will always smoke tobacco today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the purists (like me) : the drawbacks with the Screens is that they clog with time.
I burn them with a lighter for cleaning them and it's works very well, but the guy at VaporGenie
says it's harmful to do this. If someone has alternatives solutions, i will appreciate.

has anyone addressed whether it is very easy to clean out the inside of either the original or glass VG? i assume that after a couple months of use the glass VG starts to smell like a DBV wand/whip (which in my case is so powerful i have to put my whipes/wands into container to control the smell in my room), and it also probably accumulates "wand hash" - how easy is it to clean it out?

How I Clean My Glass VG
================

I take the screen out of the glass VG and pour a little iso through the bowl. I put a cork in the bowl, and leave it (the pipe curve) submerged in real hot water so as to heat the alcohol and resins: this helps to dissolve the resins into the iso. I swish it around until everything melts (mostly) and then I pour it into a collection jar for subsequent usage through the mouthpiece.

I usually finish it off with copious dunks in a bath of very very hot soapy water.

I might reduce the alcohol with the aid of a small fan, and add it to a couple of buds.

I never thought that saving the resins was that big of deal, until I did it. It is not like that tar gunk from combustion pipes. Its pure condensed vapor goodness.

yeah, so it sounds pretty easy to take advantage of that. in fact it may even be more conservative that way than my DBV b/c while the majority of wand hash is in the wand, the whip also has stuff but doesn't seem worth trying to clean out since it's so long and the material isn't as easy to clean stuff off of as glass.

I'm really considering picking this up as my portable vaporizer. I really wish they would sell the heating portion separately. You could rig it to directly use in water filters. Or Vapor Genie could make a water pipe version/attachment.

@GoGlass : you mention ' Wood VaporGenie -> great for herbs but more complicated for resin, and not so easy to clean '. Can you elaborate on that.

I primarily use resinous pressed hashish with my handcarved VG. What will i gain if a get a glass VG ?

Taste primarly. The taste is much crisper/better in the glass vg. Bigger bowl too.

Ive had a glass VG for a couple months and agree with everyone about the great flavor and hits. This pipe is the bomb; would never want to be without it. Sitting in the sun in the morning with glass vg is so nice, watching those clowds do the floaty dance away. Great to clean with hot water, save and dry on plate and scrape up and reuse. Good stuf.

new owner chiming in to say x2 on all that. i cannot compare it to anything other than a short combustion pipe and the 550 dollar volcano (not mine, but have used it more than the vg glass) and to say i prefer this hand held unit. even if it performed the same as the volcano i think you miss something somehow by using a plastic bag vs a hand crafted piece you get to hold, feels more authentic and substantial as an experience overall.

i thought i would be able to see the vapor travel in the glass but i dont, but i do get to see the contents as they change and that is awesome for practical usage reasons as well as entertainment value.

in shopping and comparing pros/cons online i saw cheaper versions of what this is but am glad with the purchase. i stuck with the standard bag (dark hemp) and its just fine for me.

crawdad,
Since the vaporgenie people are too silly to make their own glass on glass, bong-compatible bowl for the glass vapor genie top, you guys might want to turn to Etsy if you so desire one.

Simpleglasstubes is very cool about custom work and does great stuff. Just send him a picture of the glass vaporgenie, tell him to make a G on G bowl with the same distance between the top joint and the bottom of the bowl.

I'd love to get a Glass vapor genie myself, but feel pretty burned about the alum bat.

Ahhh, don't let the Bat keep you from buying the glass VG!!! I am truly disappointed in VG for making the inferior bat
