The HI

@Shit Snacks - I do have a need to create things. Glad everyone gets to enjoy them.

@little maggie - Will be sure to get a few more of the micro vvps units made.

@OnlyHuman - Thanks for posting the photos. Glad you are enjoying it.

I normally make the Heat Island as small in diameter as possible so that it will fit pretty much any water pipe and be very light in weight. I will make other shapes as requested. Here is a HI with a glass heater cover that is shaped like the Master Shake. The wood is spalted silver maple and fairly light in weight. The design is hand burned into the wood.

I made another pineapple shaped unit but this one is smaller in diameter. It is called the Crushed Pineapple.
The bottom is closed off using a removable threaded wooden plug. The wood is osage orange and the lines are hand burned into the wood.

Here is a side view of the micro vvps that shows how it connects to the wooden block.

I wish I got on the list like a year ago. :p The wait is excruciating - seeing all these beautiful bad-boys just makes me want one more than I already did. D: The VAS is strong, you guys.

Also - a question: Seeing as the HI runs on DC (right? 12v?) could a dimmer like those used by and recommended by the Underdog thread be used in place of a VVPS for some measure of temperature control?

Cheers guys.

@Alan - thanks for all the work you do for the FC community, man - hope you're not putting yourself through too much to get through the orders. Pay no attention to my impatience - I have trouble waiting a minute for a coffee. :p

Yes, you can use the dimmer to lower the temp from the stock wall wart. You may want a short extension cord to connect between the dimmer and HI so your not dragging the dial/control box around each time you pick up the HI.

:D Cheers rude boy. Was a little taken aback by the price of our Centizen's VVPS. It's definitely worth it, I'm just generally short on funds 'cause frivolity and art school. :p

I can say many others I've met who love the creative side are the same - "All I need is a 350 million dollar budget and full creative control, and two red pandas right at the end of their lives. And a plane with one engine working that still flies. SOMEONE GET ME FARRAH FAWCETTS ASHES!"

=.= We're not the most practical bunch.

Congratulations @KidFated. that looks awesome! SS or hybrid core?
That's a good question, I don't think I ever stated which I wanted, nor do I really know the difference. Feel free to enlighten me and maybe @Alan could clear this up for me on which I have?

Thank you Nugg, i'm looking forward to watching then color change! I had a Purpleheart UD that was two toned after the heat got to it, it looked amazing.

It should be a stainless core. I also requested purpleheart and asked for hybrid, and Alan said that the hybrid core required lighter density woods, and with purple heart would be too hot to hold comfortably...

Also excited about this color change phenomenon!

Both cores have the same 12v resistor inside them. The difference being the sleeve around them.

The SS is known to run hotter and the hybrid to deliver slightly better flavour.

The hybrid core is also a little bigger so it mates differently with some stems.

@KidFated. What stems did you get?
