Agreed it was poor customer service... I am very sorry but it was a calculated risk to maximize my chances to deliver Zions in October. Please keep in mind that we will be contacting you prior to shipment to make sure all of our information is correct so please hold your correspondence until then if possible. Part of the reason for the black out was until the first units completed the full manufacturing process the full story was not known. Now that it is:

We have run into one major and several minor issues. The minor issues are with low voltage cut-off and a slight odor in the adhesive after curing both of which we have solutions for and just need time to implement. The major issue is that we have found that the variations in the manufacturing process variation causes reduction in vapor quality. We have an understanding of what is causing this but need time to design and validate the solution making this a somewhat open ended problem that isn't easy to predict the timing on so we wont be giving specific dates but rather will be giving regular progress updates.

Please visit the www revised FAQ pages (draft) that contain the answer to many questions as well as contain the newly added contact forms. The idea here is to allow our customers to answer their own questions and ask ones that are not shown. I can then add them to the FAQ so that I only have to answer questions once allowing me to stay focused on bring you your Zion.

Please Keep the positive vibe alive in this thread... This is the responsibility of all Cult Lifetime Members!
I know you said it is an open ended problem and can't give a timeline for when it will be solved but based on your experience are we talking days, weeks, months, years? Sometime in 2015 or more likely 2016 sometime?

A little confusing... Try the drop down menu under the FAQ - Contact tab

In order for all cult members to feel part of the family we will be extending the lifetime warranty to all Zion's sold to date so we better get it right :)

A close read of the FAQs will show that we are giving away a free stealth mouthpiece and screen pack as thanks for your patience during this short delay.
Does that mean the ones who paid $230 this month also get the lifetime warranty and stealth mouthpiece/screen pack?

So, Mr Peanut and I have been chasing vapor perfection for months. Through all of beta work I was not able to match the vapor quality of the 2X4. Sure, the beta's looked nicer but the 2X4 owners continued to insist that they first heaters I built where the best... until now.

The majority of the recent delay was due to Mr. Peanut and I working over 100 hours to test and perfect the heater. We tested over 20 heater configurations with Mr. P directing if I was getting better or worse. So now we have a few trade secrets and know the critical variables that need to be controlled to deliver "Zion Quality Vapor".

We expect the Beta team to notice an improvement in vapor quality over their existing beta units. I will let Mr. Peanut give more detail on the "Zion Vortex" that has plagued us behind the scene for so long. I, for one, am just so relived to have finally figure our the riddle that had alluded me for so long.

When i read this a couple of weeks ago, although i realised a delay was likely, i must admit it that it made me quite happy to think that although all the reviews of the beta units were very positive and shipping units of a similar, or even slightly lesser quality by the sounds of how good the beta units already are, would make many people very happy, @RBT chose not to send out pretty great units, and then improve quality down the line with later units, or a "new and improved model".

It sounds like the plan always was, and remains, getting the best possible production unit 'out of the gate' the first time. I applaud that and prefer to wait for the best possible based on current tech/knowledge etc (obviously future versions will improve, but not at the expense of a rushed and sub par first model)

These kind of values seemed in the forefront throughout this process/thread, and was a major reason i jumped in on the zion (and the stealth) in the first place. I am glad to see little has changed even with money on the table.

Keep up the good work, and remember to take a break.

I probably could sit here and complain about not meeting deadlines and pushing this out further meaning it will be longer before I get my very own Zion, but how could I? They're delayed cause RBT refuses to send out anything but the best product he can produce. How can you be mad at that? I will still eagerly look for updates and hope I have mine by thanksgiving, but I'd rather wait longer than get a unit that I need to send back..

Wait... what?!

:haw:

...you mean it's gonna be better than what we got?!

Is that even possible?!

:whoa:

I bought mine right at the September/October boundary so I wasn't sure what "model" I would be getting as I still wasn't fully aware of the progress or how they would be distributed. I was worried I wouldn't be getting one of the most up to date versions.
So while I am slightly heartbroken that mine probably hasn't even been made yet, I am very happy that I will be getting a complete and up to date actual product.

We experienced some technical difficulties with our Refund form on our www. The issue has been resolved and the refund page has been moved to the main menu.

Anyone that is at all displeased with RBT in anyway please submit for a refund ASAP. At this point in time we only want truly dedicated Cult members that are patiently awaiting their initiation. I will happily issue you a refund within 5 days.

I like the box styling of the Zion, I prefer it over pen style vapes. I mean these days there's nothing more suspicious than someone with a pen. It's like what the fuck are you going to do with that thing?
However it's probably much harder to perform an emergency tracheotomy with a Zion

I'll bust that long stem and...presto...big bore trach tube. AND since I have the shorty stem, I'll still be able to have a nice sesh after I clean up the blood. Where there's a will there's a way!

How long have we been together now . . . ? 4 months or more? And still the only clean that has been required is a wash of the stem and a quick screen refresh every now & then. I LOVE this feature.

And I LOVE my Zion. It's ALWAYS ready to go.

Much respect to you RBT for putting this fine vaporizer first.

Personally, I wouldn't want it any other way.

We are all here, waiting in the wings.

Ready, but only when you are.

:)

You could probably use the Zion to pop in a chest tube.

All we can do is wait. And no one likes to wait. The main thing we can do as a group is try and make this wait as hpain free as possible. Truth be known we have no idea how long this hiccup will take to figure out. I do know that us as a hole being negative torwards each other or RBT will do absolutly nothing to expedite the process. And I think the refund that RBT is pushing for for all the unhappy customers is to try and bring some positive vibes back into the Zion folds. This of course is IMO only. I'm not trying to speak for any one but myself.

I'm not sure about anyone else but I'm starting to get that Zion funkadelic groove back in my soul.

I think we may all have stepped out of that groove somewhat buddy. Some more than others.

I think the GH threads have made it harder for new manufacturers to ask for help monetary wise be it pre-orders or crowd funding. It's turned otherwise patient people, and rightly so. $365K and 3053 backers all paid out in December 2013 and who knows how many after the Indie campaign. Still waiting.

RBT could, as he said, have sent out what he considered to be an inferior product and none of us would have been any the wiser. He chose not to. How selfish of the man wanting to make sure everyone received an RBT product that performs above and beyond every ones expectations.
He could quite easily have rolled each and every turd in anodized glitter and sent them out hoping no one noticed and then offered refunds or exchanged parts to help re-shine said turds.
He hasn't. He has opened up and expressed HIS dissatisfaction with the vapor production and informed us all that he won't send anything out until each and every Zion meets the standards he expects.

And I'm floored that we haven't even seen the true Zion signature. Great things are in store for all of us. Sweet.

I'm off to bother TKW dual power house style.
