Vapman

Yup, although not as remote as far western qld! Wow. This is my first time vaping, so my notes might not be worth much. lol There was a lot more to choose from with this vape than the Zion (that was an easy decision by far). Different sellers, different woods, different materials, different coloured eggs.. ;) It's all too much! haha

I think the opinion of a current combusted first time vaper is interesting. Especially when thinking of devices to show combusting friends, as you're aware most Aussie weed/baccy bong smokers are stubborn folk! Haha. Show them a vape they don't like or understand and they will swear off it forever. Although the vapman seems like it might win some of my cheaper friends over just in weed efficency!

Fudge yea nugg! Can't wait to join the club! Do you block the holes in the stem?

The baccy bong crowd are a stubborn bunch indeed. Can't believe I used to be one of them.

I don't block the holes. I find I don't really need to. Sometimes I hold my vapman in a cupped hand with the middle section between my thumb and pointer finger. With your hand in this position you can easily block the holes and control the air stream.

@vapman That is an awesome specimen you have there! The wood is very special. It has such a great story to it. How many vapmen do you have in your personal collection? Is there any that you will never part with? What happened to vapman #1 (like the first production one)? It should be in a museum.

Haha, again, I'm going to be less than useful here. I don't really know any weed smokers! I got myself an American husband!! Anyone who has ever hinted at it has been very cagey. VERY. I have no idea how we stumbled across our supplier (it was a needle in a haystack thing - we got some chooks off him)!

I do agree that the Vapman would appeal to Aussies in general, simplicity, and as you say, efficiency can only be a great thing when herb is so rare and expensive. It's funny to see the Silky Oak being sought after - it's a large gravillia tree that grows all over. Very pretty flowers, I love it. It use to be popular as a fine furniture wood, but everything's cheap pine these days. We have Murray Pine (native) growing all over where I am, and it smells amazing when cut into. Oh, and the Underdog's banksia nut version looks awesome - I wonder how that'd go as a Vapman??

Because it is Tuesday today, I thought, why not share this picture
What for a beauty!

I guess, René is still vaping with.:D

Me too! If you know somebody, who will travel to Europe, give him/her some wood for René with(@vapman). He like to try out different woods.
I think, a piece with 4x4 x 12 inches (10x10x30cm) (without resin-pockets) should be enough for René to make his eyes glowing. :D

I know two somebodies who would LOVE to travel to Europe.:luv:;)
Of course, we'd need some-other-body who would like to pay for it. :p

Something I realised last night at 1am - I ordered the Vapman express post, but don't have a torch lighter to use it with! :mental: Duh. Guess what I'm ordering this morning then.. but I reckon it won't get here 'till well after Friday.

Ok, i'm intrigued by the vapman but don't know if I want it or not.
I have a lily which I like a lot more than the Lotus i used to have for ease of use & taste.
How's the vapman stack up in all this.

I have the lily as well..also have a custom stem made by ed for the lily...also got a custom stem made by ed for my vapman as well. That being said, I use the vapman daily.....I may or may not use my lily. Don't get me wrong the lily is a damn good vape....the fucking ritual of the vapman is the bee's knees for me and to add I can also do concentrates in my vapman as well....yowzah!!!

How's the bowl size compared to the lily?
I guess i will have to find some youtube footage of it as I still can't imagine how one actually hits the vapman still...

I agree the lily is damn good but I still don't find myself reaching for it on a daily basis.

there are some nice videos on youtube and I think I few in this forum as well. The vapman bowl is small but once you get your ritual perfected you will find that the small load gets you extremely lit!! The flavor is amazing and it is very economical. the other thing you will not believe how small it is until you get it in your hand. @Ed's TnT makes a very nice bong attachment and he makes what I call the long draw stem. The long draw stem takes the vapman to another level!! Start at the beginning of this forum like I did...hit a few bowls and read.

Does the VAPEMAN work with glass?

I have a large collection of vape pens for concentrates.

When you say the vapman works with concentrates what about things like BHO?
Yes, of course, with the concentrate screen. It's maybee not as comfortable as an oil-rig, but you have to clean also less. ;-)

For one, who consume extracts only sometimes, it's ok. I use once a week some extracts or good hash, mostly homemade. Love to clean the screen with the torch after use and voilà, ready for the next, ;-)

Jupp, and it's even smoother with water-filtering. (The VM gives already a smooth vape.)
I use a simple one-hitter-bong, where I placed a seal-ring in the head. I heat the VM with the station and press the VM gently on the seal-ring and take a draw.

Like every water-filtering system, it takes a bit the good aroma away, but for this I can go a bit hotter and recieve more substances in one hit.

The heating works also fine with the torch.

Anyone here keep heating their vapman while hitting? The instruction manual of the hammer says to pre heat then hit, but I can never ever do this I have a compulsion to apply more heat. Seems like it's too close to the face for direct draw, what about through water?
Although heating then hitting seems pretty peaceful!

At the moment my budget won't allow me to get get an eds water pipe adapter so I just cram the middle section into a long 18/14 reducer.

When I first got my vapman I was heating while hitting when I used it with water. These days I like to take it a little slower.

Legend! As long as it's possible. I heat everything while hitting and the hiss gets too me. Might change it up, might not... Might mix it up. Who knows! Can't wait

@Nugg So far, I used only a few vapmen for my personal use and this I did deliberately to test the units in terms of durability. The very first one which really worked well already was this one here, it is the second prototype I made back in 2005. The pins for the locking system are made of bamboo!

xmlk7l.jpg

The next prototype was this one here, it has already the final shape but the pins are still made of bamboo. This one I used until I had the production going with the first series which took about six months time. Originally, the two steel springs were made manually but I replaced these later with the final springs made by the supplier. Therefore it is not to 100% the original prototype but almost. Everytime I added something new I had to test it and this keeps going on until today. Anyway, this one is the first vapman as we know it today! BTW, the wood is european walnut.

2m28aqe.jpg

Soon after the production was set up, I started with special woods, one of my favorites is this one made of an Australian wood which name I don't know or never knew, I think. I forgot if I forgot the name...
Check out the mouthpiece, also an Australian super hard wood. Did I ever mention that I love woods?:D

Here is another one I won't sell, someone gave me a piece of very, very dark African wood, it is really black and heavy as anything, it is even heavier than the normal ebony I get from my wood supplier.
Again, vapmen made of "special" woods don't work better than others, it is all for the love of woods
and the beauty of nature, really. My personal vaporizer is a yew tree model since almost two years, I like
the medium heavy woods best, they are ideal for vapman in terms of heat insulation and strength.

Hopefully the story of vapman will go on...:)
