next generation e-nails?

Your locking nut is probably upside down.
It's not symmetrical.
Nah the locking nut only works one way. The other side wont even insert into the SiC dish center hole.

Edit: just took the nail apart and tried screwing the locking nut down without the nail head and coil and realized the threads were getting snagged about halfway screwed down. Worked it back and forth a few times and must've worked out a burr or something cause it'll screw all the way down now and sandwiches the coil nicely.

sweet - glad you got it figured out - I kept thinking there's no way it shouldn't seat

I just placed an order for a custom rig, a nice little recycler - Ill be sure to post it up when I get it, probably going to get that dang qaurtz halo as well thanks to @herbivore21 lol

FYI the Hive carb cap with stinger works great with the SiC dish. It's about 31mm dia. and the SiC dish is about 27mm dia. Couldn't find that info anywhere so thought I'd share.

My SIC and sapphire arrived today, and I am just finding out about the carb cap. I suspected from all the photos, and they were out of the Gen2 cap when I ordered. I will have to improvise till they stock the caps again.

Here's a good deal on that Hive cap if you're interested. I spoke with Dan at D-Nail last week about the gen 2 carb cap and he said they were going to have a small batch ready late last week or early this week but it would sell out quick. I keep checking and haven't seen them yet ... hope I haven't missed 'em. He said the next batch is going to be much bigger but there's no eta on that second batch at this time.

If I see them in stock, I'll post about it here so you and other FC'ers can snap them up.

I've taken to starting my day with a tiny bowl of flowers (almost nothing) in the dnail flower adapter, when I first wake up and then a dab of no THC high cbd acdc. This quartz halo seems to produce the best flavor with my acdc errrl. Better than sapphire. I dab at about 850f on the quartz halo with acdc (protip: always dab high cbd concentrates 80-100f hotter than you usually dab THC predominate concentrates).

Finally ditched the Infiniti and got my hands on a dnail ti base, this thing is epic! So little metal, more effective dissipation of heat, doesn't conduct heat on the glass at all compared to Infiniti!

What's that between the heater and the halo??!. And any word on this base? Looks smaller than the Infiniti and the heat conduction sounds awesome cuz the Infiniti gets pretty hot.

I think it's a Ti washer that is necessary when using the Sapphire Halo.

@herbivore21 2nd on the question re: 1.4 base.
I will likely need a base for a male fitting soon.

Why does the sapphire insert rest on the ti nut, and not the floor of the SIC dish? It's not like the bowl on the HE and SIC are even the same size, so I am just curious about that.

I think the Ti washer more evenly distributes the heat onto the Sapphire Halo than would the naked coil by itself.

Take that with a grain of salt though, as I only own a SiC dish + Sapphire insert.
But I remember reading that in one of herbivore21's posts.

I do however have a Quartz Halo on pre-order ...

:D

edit: I misunderstood your question; thought it was re: the Ti washer underneath the full Sapphire Halo in herbivore21's picture.

MileHighLife has it right: convection dabs off of the Sapphire insert.
Very tasty; one can tell that the vapor is sublimated off in smaller particles.

REedit: When dabbing off of the Sapphire insert you have to jack up the temperature 125*-150* higher than the temp you use for the SiC dish alone.
I run the SiC dish only @627* and SiC+Sapphire insert @777*.

Go to 8:50 and you'll see. It's supposed to provide "convection" dabs similar to screen hits. I've got one in the Infiniti dish and one for the halos and can't decide which way I like 'em better yet.

Thanks for the video. I love the idea of putting the sapphire on top of the pukinbeagle Quartz, which is my daily driver. Means I don't have to buy a whole new nail to try the sapphire insert. I wonder what temp he's using.

I just got my sic dish and v1.3 base yesterday. Man what a difference from a ti nail!!! I never realized how much ti affected the taste! The Sic dish tastes wayyyyy better! I used it with a butane torch first and it hits great!! I hooked up my 710whip heater coil to it and it works great tastes way better then ceramic that comes with the whip and the Sic can be torched cleaned so I don't have to leave my enail on for hours to clean it! I'm super impressed so far!!

So jealous of all you guys with the sic. I really don't want to pay $200 for sic (since I have to buy base and carb cap), but it seems like the s***. Does it do big dabs well? Anyone have regrets purchasing and wish you bought a quartz halo? TIA.

Edit: haven't heard a complaint about the sic. Do you have to season?

No seasoning required.
Btw I didn't buy the carb cap and am using my cheapo China carb cap. It doesn't fit over the Sic dish but does fit perfectly on top, not perfect but works good. I may buy the carb cap at some point but it works well enough as is.

Holds heat better than ti so big dabs are no problemeno!!!!

I lucked out with both the timing of my entry into the dabbing arena and the superb information I was able to glean from this forum.

My first nail is the SiC dish + Sapphire insert.

:D

They're on sale now (SiC dish; base; Sapphire insert).
You could get a 1.3 base and SiC for $120.
add the Hive ceramic carb cap linked above for ~$40.

No Sapphire insert @ this price point, but ...

big dabs - hell yes and yes please! its a big dish

only regret here is I bought Ti nail first

Between the two I think the SiC has better specs than the quartz and will likely be more durable in the long run. SiC will also handle torching and maybe scraping better too, after 3 months of heavy daily use I can still return it to like-new condition with a bit of cleaning. I've yet to have any problems with it myself and everybody who's bought one seems to be really happy with it.

I have a pb direct inject nail, so no base. But I definitely need 2 nails, in case my pb breaks. Maybe the sic becomes the daily driver.

or what are other options compatible with the auberins

Any issues with the Auber heaters? I have been enjoying the RDK-300 for a couple months now, no issues. It looks like the Dnail heater sells at a premium to the Auber.?

My E nail is from Matt at Ineedhemp.com, I believe the PID is an auber(it functions identical). I have my original 20mm coil from Matt, a flat coil from hyman quartz(DH gate seller) and have heard that the d-nail, terpz nail, and most other coils are compatible with my(and probably yours too!) controller. As always, I would double check the exact wire placement, as I hear you can destroy your controller if the coil is not wired correctly. Also, pay attention to the wattage of the coil you want to purchase, it should be very close to the one you are using, or you will have to change your PID values. I couldn't get confirmation on wiring, so I took a chance for $30 from China and all was good.... I mean GREAT! My new flat coil is a beast under my SiC Halo, I'm loving this set up........ having trouble leaving the house, time to get that Auber 12V unit, does anyone know if those coils are different?

Yeah they're 70 watt.
