Either way.

I'm sorry, I guess I didn't ask that right. How about 'does the longer lasting flavor depend on having a larger load in Crafty as opposed to Solo?'. With any vape, smaller loads run out of flavor faster. As I understand from random comments I've read Crafty has a larger bowl? Otherwise I find it interesting that one model can extract more flavor from the same herb as another unless the other one is somehow substandard.

Thanks again.

Yeah the Crafty bowl is almost the same width as the Solo/Air crucible, you could probably even use one of the stems in it...
On the subject of flavor, I feel as though the user's temperature preferences on both vapes can affect the length of time flavor keeps coming- especially since some units tend to extract a bit quicker, and would possibly be ripping out the terpenes much earlier?

for instance- I find that the Solo has flavor until it's almost done (straight to 6/~401), while the Crafty has a bit more consistent cooking, but doesn't taste as good to me for as long (~395-400F)

You can put any amount in the bowl if you place the concentrate pad on top. Imo the air/solo get a bit more harsh do to less convection. Then again I came back to the air. Maybe I'll have to do some more testing.

This is an air discussion so this is a bit off base. But nearly every website fails to even rate some of the popular vaporizers here. I would never have heard of log vapes if I hadn't found this site. Or puffitup which is where I got my very affordable air and beautiful Joda stem. I do think you can get a good comparison if you try the ASK FC thread.

Log vapes wow i never even heard of log vapes. Time to do some research. Thanks

Vapes R Great
I really wanted to buy a crafty or mighty but failure rate scared me away. My solo and now air have been the most reliable and easy to use vapes. It's super easy to take the air with you with the supplied little case. I bring mine to my daily radiation treatments right now with a jyarz classic filled with erb. Hit a stem before and after treatment. Decided to buy a volcano instead for home use and am thinking of picking up another solo for back up as I still have a extra battery and power outlet cord from the last one. Maybe later on I will try a storz & Bickel portable when they iron out all the issues but for now I would stick with the proven reliability their desktop units

Just yesterday the power supply on my Air just decided to quit working. I assume due to some type of a short. To begin with, if I jiggled the cord around by the plugin it would come on and start charring. But now it wont seem to do anything. So I guess I need to order me a replacement, now is it really important to stick with the costly chargers from Arizer? I know there has been a lot of discussion about stock vs after-market batteries and the chargers for them. But I didn't see a lot of discussion on the wall chargers and what would be the best way to go on replacing them!

Sorry you missed it, we've been through this several times. Probably the best/cheapest option is to order a USB power cable. This one is working fine for me and several others:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/cable-USB-4...pply-5V-Tablet-Android-Sony-PSP-/281234981407

Not all similar cables work (some are a tiny bit too short and need to have a bit cut off like this:
TxZzukM.jpg

That's the factory cable above and modified connector on the bottom.

You can then charge from a handy USB port, or a wall or auto to USB adapter which you may already have.

BTW the failure you describe is almost certainly not a short circuit, it's most likely an open (broken wire) at one end or the other of the cable (where it gets bent in service). Wiggling stuff around was jamming the broken parts back together for a while?

Good luck with it. Going this route will not only save bucks but you can end up with a more flexible system. The only known replacement for the original supply is from the maker......at a somewhat steep price.

hello to all

firstly i would like to thank the member by the name OF and many others for proving such great insights for the AA. thank you very much to all members who have posted on this AA thread.

so on the 12th of Oct I placed an order on the arizer website for the arizer air.
after reading all pages on this thread I decided I would need an extra battery for my unit and an extra mouth piece just in case I broke mine so to have an extra at that time would be great so I ordered an extra plastic tipped month piece coz many ppl here said the plastic tipped ones are great.

so I placed an order for an arizer with an extra battery and extra mouth piece

they shipped my AA on the 12th of October and
I live in india so it took about 4 days for to reach indian customs where is was for about a week

fast forward to last Thursday the 28th of Oct I received my AA

so I received my vape and when I reached home at the end of the day from work I was finally able to test it out

I had charged it the entire day and performed several burn off cycles so when I loaded my bowl and pushed it into the unit it fit nicely into the unit. it was a little stiff to push in but once it was in it was pretty secure.

so the first time I fired up the unit and took a couple draws, I was kind of over whelmed by the taste of the vapour. I'll be honest I didn't like the taste at first. it tasted like I put a bud in my mouth and sucked on the bud for a couple hours. but later I adjusted to the taste pretty well and now I love the taste.

I didn't notice the effects right away, for example when we smoke a joint we feel the effects within the first few drags from the joint.
so I didn't feel any effects right away so I loaded another bowl and smoked that too.
at first I used the unit only on the red temp setting.
so I smoked about 3 bowls from a fully charged battery on the red setting.

like I said I didn't feel any effects at first so I stopped after the first 3 bowl session I shut off the unit put it back on charge and came down to my room. I was smoking in my terrace.
here in india the herb is pretty good sometimes
so I came back down to my room n after a few mins I realised I'm running around in my room
so I went to the washroom n was washing my hands and suddenly I realised I was smashed. a good comparison would by 1 joint = 1 bowl.

so I smoked a cigarette. and soon after I realised I was quite medicated ;)

so coming to my thoughts on the unit.

1. Very well manufactured unit
2. every review I saw of this unit the ppl said that the unit is smaller than they expected. when I received the unit my first impression was A. the unit is smaller than expected. B. The bowl in the glass stem is bigger than expected.
3. you get about 3 full bowls from a full charged battery. that is if your using the unit only on the red temp setting. and about 4 bowls using the White and Green setting.
4. on the red setting flavor doesn't last as long but the clouds are decent. on green settings g the taste lasts much longer the clouds last longer and a much smoother experience.
5. the unit performs like a champion on the white and green settings, at first there is amazing flavour the clouds do get bigger if you let the unit heat up and allow a minute to pass between draws.

switching to vaporising after smoking herb for 8 years :-

1. the vapour is smoother than a cigarette
2. it feels very odd at first because when you are vaporising you don't feel the effects right away
3. the taste is something that you get used to in the first few days at first it tastes horrible but then having used it over one weekend the taste is now much appreciated over the way joints taste.
4. I read a very good example somewhere online. joints are like whiskey and vaporising is like drinking wine. the whiskey gets you drunk within the first few shots where as wine gets u very drunk after 8 10 glasses. when you are vaporising I guess it can be compared to drinking wine because once you develop a taste for it, it really does make you love the taste of your herb and also you feel a good clean fresh high after the first 1 or 2 bowls but after 4 to 6 bowls the high really hits you like you can say after 1 or 2 that ok I am nicely high but after 4 to 6 bowls you will say ok I know I'm quite smashed.
5. the feeling in the lungs after doing a good long session of 6 to 10 bowls you will be very well medicated and you won't feel the damage of smoking which results in a much cleaner more comfortable high
you wouldnt have used as much herb as you would have in 6 to 10 bowls of a bong nor do you feel that disgusting feeling of tar and shit in your lungs after doing 6 to 10 bowls in a bong. so that is good

best part about vaping -
to feel the effect of smoking 6 to 10 bong hits
to not feel the damage of smoking 6 to 10 bong hits

best part about the AA -
VERY VERY ECONOMICAL !! THE EFFECT OF SMOKING 20 JOINTS WHILE USING THE HERB OF 4 JOINTS.
only negative thing I can think about is
1. draw resistance is more. but then you adjust your smoking style. effect is good enough to not care about the draw.

at first I didn't get as good results as I am now.
I read somewhere that this vape has a baby learning curve - I agree to this as my first few bowls weren't as good as it is now. I am still learning to use this vape and looking forward to the age old saying practice makes perfect :p

also would like to add.
after smoking for 8 years for purely recreation I had reached a stage where I was irritated of the fact that smoking joints gave me munchies and somehow I feel that vaping cause any munchies. so that's a very big plus for me

having been a smoker for soo long I had become used to waking up every morning and having to remove the phelgm/lung butter/cuff by coughing a lot
having switched to vaping over the weekend I noticed that this wasn't happening anymore. so now my throat is feeling much much better

Final thoughts on the Arizer Air :-

1. Very Good product. well priced. well manufactured.

2. replaceable battery is a very good advantage.

3. taste is phenomenal. lol it is soo good that having not cared for the taste while smoking for the last 8 years it feels very different to buy now solely because of the way it tastes
I feel it makes the herb taste similar to how it smells.

4. the high/effect/medicated feeling is very very good. Very clean feeling. no heavy feeling / headache when it's wearing off.

5. this is my personal opinion but I'm in love with the fact that I can get high as a kite and I won't get the munchies

6. I guess herb is expensive where it's legal but here in india we get 100 grams of very good fresh herb for USD 40. so I've never thought about being economical with my herb. but woow does this thing perform !!
like last night for example - usually on Sunday when I'm going to sleep around 12 at night I would have smoked 10 to 15 joints feeling tired as hell my head feeling heavy and that excessive phelgm buildup in my chest
but last night I think I had smoked under 10 bowls the entire day. I think I used the herb of 2 to 4 joints to get 10 bowls in my arizer air
so I feel it's very economical to get the effect of smoking 20 joints without feeling the side effects of smoking 20 joints and having used the amount used to make only 4 joints. so yeah looking forward to the herb lasting much much longer now :p

I feel I have to stress on this fact.

to feel the effect of smoking 20 joints
from the amount of herb used to make 4 joints
without feeling the damage of smoking even 1 joint is truly epic

the battery life is great
gives around 4 bowls on green temp setting
gives around 3 bowls on red temp setting.

I feel it is good to give 30 to 40 seconds between draws. allows the bowl to heat up giving you a much better draw much better taste and cloud.

7. I have noticed that when I use my grinder to grind my herb it results in a very fine consistency. this fine herb when vaporised I guess causes to draw resistance to increase
so what I did was I plucked apart the bud so it had a very nice flaky consistency, so when I put this flaky herb in a small zip lock bag I roll a small amount into a ball and when I put that ball in the bowl the herb expands a little coz it's flaky and fits nicely into the bowl giving good draws and resulting in a more even AVB.

all in all very good vaporiser
very well priced
very well manufactured
baby learning curve
replaceable battery is very good for on the go sessions
very economic with herb
can't emphasise on how good the effects are in comparison to smoking. lol truly Fuck Combustion :p

finally a very big thank you to all members who have posted on this thread.
thank you for being such a good guide to selecting the perfect vaporiser for myself :)

This USB cable from Amazon is real cheap and it works. Took a few weeks to come from China though. I also made one myself from my Air charger that broke, I just cut off the wall wart and spliced on a USB plug.

Hey, I'm having mixed results with concentrates out of the AA.
Seems like sometimes it all vaporizes away and other times there are bits that just won't vape away.
The instructions I got were to roll it up in a little piece of organic cotton and puff away.
The one time I had really good results involved putting it against the glass side of the tube. Is it possible the cotton is insulating it from the heat so much it just sits there? I don't like turning the heat all the way up with the cotton in it because I seem to taste it but I have even tried that...
Thoughts?

Still giggling at "lung butter". Must admit I don't miss morning lungs. I'm just annoyed it took me becoming ill to finally make the switch. I think a lot of the older generation remember the 1st round of vapes that came out that weren't really fit for purpose and got put off, but, comparing say the AA to the first gen of vapes is like comparing the PS4 to an old Atari. Best money I ever spent

Of course that's it. Air is a convection vape, all heat to the load has to be by conduction, after any heat that seeps in is used to make vapor the temperature locally is too low to make vapor and you have a dandy cotton heat shield keeping more away.

Thermodynamics works that way. At the very least you'll need to turn the temperature up.

This is probably the reason the maker doesn't claim (or recommend) use of concentrates. If you plan regular use of concentrates perhaps a vape intended for that is in order?

The shop I purchased mine at really upsold its ability to use with concentrates as well as dry herb.
It's not like it doesn't work, it just seems like it's wasting as much as half sometimes.
I suppose I'll have to play around some more with placement and perhaps use less cotton.

I find nothing out of the ordinary there, do you? They're in business to make sales. While there are exceptions of course, my experience with most LHS employees is they are long on advice but short on actual experience. Their claim that 'this is the best' or one vape is better than another for your needs is at best their honest opinion.

As we know here, one guy's opinion of a given vape's good and bad points aren't guaranteed to match up with the next guy's. You have to make the best (most educated) choice you can then work with it I think.

You should, I agree, experiment. Small amounts, close to the glass have the lowest chance of wasting concentrate IMO. My advice to those of us who use concentrates regularly is to invest in a suitable vape. Right now I think our friends at VW have a winner with their '11 Mini', lots of options, very small size, for not much bucks. You can easily cover the cost by taking fuller advantage of a few grams?
http://www.vaporwarehouse.com/site/vaporbrothers-mini-eleven-pen.html

I also really like the Vapman screens for concentrates. Gives you more excuses to use your VM, a personal favorite. Fun (and effective/frugal) vape with herb in it's own right, and IMO an excellent backup for vapes like Air (and every owner should have a useful backup handy).

Enjoy your experiments.

Any of you guys come from a pax or pax2? Was it a good switch over?thanks
I had a pax 2. They both have positives and negatives. The pax is more stealthy and a bit more convenient. The fact you don't need anything but the pax is nice. The hits have more flavor and aren't as harsh with the air. Just as thick with either one. The pax has a longer runtime but the airs batteries can be changed. It comes down to better flavor and efficiency or portability and convenience. Everyone will have a different opinion though. I came back to the air for a reason.

Calm Consistency
Aye Whatsup guys, I've had an Air now for a few months (I mostly use my E-Nano though,). I've been a huge fan of it but am looking to improve my Air. More specifically...The stems. I'm up to date on the information regarding the majority of stems, but I need some help with specifics.

Regarding my current setup:
1. I LOVE the all glass straight stem with the domed screen lightly-mediumly packed down. Makes for awesome clouds, great taste, and good consistency in browning, without using tons of herb
2. Everytime I've used the flat screens, I couldn't get my bud to brown evenly, and I don't enjoy stirring as it re-separates your bud, increasing the chances of it falling into the heater. (and so I stick to domed screens)...and uses much more herb
3. The ever-loved by some, and hated by others, acrylic stem with the black tip, is seen as something very negative to me. The mouthpiece gets pretty damn hot (I'm aware the constant drag is what makes it hot, but that's my preferred technique [will practice sipping soon]).

I am looking to replace the acrylic stem with something better than the glass one I already enjoy (Would use my glass stem + whatever is recommended, and put the acrylic in storage).
Pretty sure the only form of "advancement" when it comes to stems, other than "customization/uniqueness", would be PVHES. (other stems would just be appearance based or length, correct?)...I'm looking to increase airflow and POSSIBLY reduce bowlsize, if it turns out to be more economical or better performing than a regular sized bowl WITH a domed screen.

The one with 30% reduced bowlsize (I believe it's the shorty) is of interest to me because it could potentially replace the domed screen with a flat screen, but still have the even burning/no top charring that I'm looking for.

I'm confused on the difference in performance of the Vortex vs other stems of PVHES and just seems like something where experience is required to filter through them. Does anyone have any suggestions based off my preferences?
Here's a simply short preference list:
1. Mouthpiece doesn't get nearly as hot as acrylic mouthpiece
2. Airflow is increased
3. Still maintains stealth factor (No bent stems, need it to look like E-Cig )
4. Bowlsize potentially reduced (if not reduced, I would just substitute a domed screen)

Thank you in advance for your help!

So I just got my Nitecore D2 charger and was skimming through the manual and noticed this part:

"Note: The D2 is not recommended for use with over-discharged (zero volt) UNPROTECTED Li-ion batteries. Li-ion batteries without a protection circuit can potentially cause a fire or explosion"

Just wondering if this is an issue with using it to charge Air batteries? Pretty sure I saw other Air owners say they use these chargers, so I'm guessing there haven't been any explosions yet? I put the pair of LGDBHE21865 batteries I just got in the mail on it, and they seem to be charging fine at the moment...
