The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Received the "Extreme Q Custom Case" I ordered from VaporSeller.com and was disappointed to find it was not the case pictured, and the cutouts do not fit the Extreme Q. I contacted customer service, and after requesting pictures of the incorrect insert they said I would have to apply for an RMA number, then ship the wrong item back, wait 10 days for it to be processed, then if approved they would send out the correct item.

This is unacceptable when they sent me the wrong item, not processing a regular return or a mistake on my part. I will be contacting Visa, but just wanted to warn other FC members about the horrible customer service I received from that site.

On a lighter note, my DDave kit should be here tomorrow as well as my 14mm whip adapter to connect my hydrotube and bong, so should be an awesome Halloween!

Happy Halloween all!

Herb gardener...
Really sorry to hear about your troubles.
I hate it when companies are like this. All to quick to take your money. But when it comes to replacing something they become the worst company In the world.

I'm having similar issues with Samsung at the moment.

Your ddave kit will cheer you up.

Got my DDave mod kit for the Extreme Q, and it's amazing what a difference this mod makes! Have only tried the 18mm adapter so far, but the vapor it produces in standard configuration is equivalent to the vapor from the standard EQ when packing the elbow. When packing the wand of the DDave the vapor it produces is copious and flavorful, easily clouding my 500ml bong!

Incredible kit at a very reasonable price, couldn't ask for more out of the Extreme Q now!

Still coming up with some small things at CFRLB with the DDave Mod Kit.
Latest trick -> So the tubing seems to fit the inside of the 18mm wand with no problem right? And it's time to clean the wand full of the extract right? Hmm...:hmm:

Long story short. I figured out an easy way to clean the wand. I took a 1 inch strip of silicone tubing and placed it inside the wand. Took the handle of a wooden spoon (that doubles as a packing tool. Just the right width. BTW) and pressed the strip of tubing through the tube, top of the wand to the bottom. Scrape all the brown goo off the end of the silicone tube strip into a container. Did another squeeze pass-thru at the bottom to the 18mm end and saved all the brown goo collected for another afternoon. :brow:

So you can pretty much measure the I.D. Of any straight wand you have, Get a soft hose with the O.D. matching the I.D. of the wand. cut a strip. Push it through (gently) with a blunt object. Collect. (Vape?:ko:) Heating up the wand in the EQ before hand will probably make it easier to do the squeeze play. I suppose you could even push the resin all the way from the top of the wand to the top of tip hat and perhaps vape it that way? Do people vape the resin as is?

Another thing I'm trying. Using a round glass screen with the 14mm long/short bowl seems to help prevent the tip hat from clogging and might help with conduction heat a little. Good for long sessions with the 14mm bowl-wand setup.

@Treeburner I have seen several types of cases all over the internet that try to sell themselves as "EQ Custom Cases". Then I see the exact same case as a "Silver Surfer Custom Case". So Be wary of any 'after-market' items offered for vaporizers, or cel phones for that matter.
Conversely, There are Manufacturers who make custom cases with whatever dimensions you provide them. Maybe something smell-proof :science:
Mod out your own EQ case? Yea, I thought that sounded like fun too. Maybe something shock resistant, smell proof, or better. I've heard some positives on say Pelican cases, for instance. I would like to make my EQ travel friendly with all the favorite parts. Like to hear what others have come up with too.

As the former owner of a computer/video game store and former pro photographer, I have found that old cases for cameras, computers or video games offer some good options. They abound at 2nd hand store and garage sales/ebay. Somewhat stealthy too.

Also foam is customizable, If you are in for a DIY project. Just get some foam made for cases and your 2nd hand item with the right dimensions, and mod it out.
Another avenue. There is bear safe containers used for hikers. I have one like this pictured that is similar enough in dimension. Plus, I can flip the lid upside down and use the bear vault as an EQ table. Perhaps there is a smell-proof bear vault that can be modded out with case foam. That'd be sweet and cover nearly all the bases. Bonus if the bear vault was waterproof and shock proof. Especially with a power supply inside.

They do use the same case for many vaporizers and just put different foam inserts in. They admitted that one of their employees accidentally sent the wrong insert, but then refused to send me the right one until I sent back the wrong one and waited up to 10 days for processing before they would send the new one. Stupid business practices, will not be a repeat customer.

I did not have any luck with the stock set up.
My @DDave kit made the Q work unreal!

I rotate my vaporizer's and broke all my GonG's today so the Q is back in rotation!

Sounds like a hassle for what was their mistake.

That settles it. :suspicious: I'm going custom. But I might cheat and look at the dimensions of the foam that came shipped with the box as a template. Get the basic block size. Then make the cuts where needed for the container being used. The box that the EQ came in, might make for another template to work with.

Getting more thoughts for the bear vault idea. I have enough backpacks that would work with the bear safe.

Oh @Treeburner, enjoy your DDave kit!

Hoping to have something sorted for the full fat DDave kit shortly. Unless mobile I always use a water tool when vaping (hot water if I can be fucked) & seeing everyone's generalized non specific joy at partnering the EQ with it's true life partner results in necessitating my purchase of such a kit.

My current setup delivers very well & I have no complaints with it but the full fat 14mm kit really intrigues me. I am of the opinion that such a set up will lower my consumption & understand that the elbow packs deliver denser vapor over the 18mm option? Looking for single draw extraction would be the ultimate & give that satisfied feeling.

I have been having naughty thoughts on purchasing a new desktop vape but will make the call after I have fully explored the full fat DDave kit. Outside the Evo I can't think of a "better" desktop than the EQ & don't really know if it is worth the considerable premium over the EQ (being outside the USA a log vape is not on the cards).

Is it possible that Arizer are working on a new desktop powerhouse? I hope they are & just bomb it into the market like they did the Air & pimp slap some of these uppity NKOTB. Who else would buy a revised EQ specifically designed to be inverted like a log vape & reduced in size? I know I would in a heartbeat.

Herb gardener...
With the stock eq elbow, when it got dirty, I used to sit it on eq (empty), at 230 ,fan speed 2. With no tube attached.

Then I would collect to goo that comes from the end with my glass stir tool.

Then wipe onto some herb and vape. I liked it very much.

This method no longer works with my ddave setup. So thanks @CuckFumbustion. I like your idea.
Even if it does make me think of that little umbrella thing the doc sticks down your old chap if you have some sex disease. Not speaking from experience here.

I use my elbows to make Friday night special milk & that never lets me down. I used to heat up my elbow & stick my SSV stir tool up the hole & wipe it on a cigarette but having fucked combustion completely that is no longer an option (and never really worked very well anyways).

Sometimes I will clean my whip with the stir tool & grab a pinch of ground up bud & make a "dirty elbow" though & whilst not the tastiest it certainly does the trick.

They may well modify an existing model enough to have near powerhouse effects like the Log vapes. Not sure why getting a Log vape would be a prob internationally. But the EQ is standardized enough for the value. Plus Arizer upgrades their products. So one of their existing vapes might catch up with the powerhouse vapes.

My DDave Mod kit, My 2 Arizers stock kits, and a few other select glass pieces of mine are officially merged in my desk drawer. :science: Even the broken stock EQ elbow pieces are in the mix. I do think the 14mm bowls and wand have something else to offer to the mix. Perhaps really well suited for single pieces of flowers cut not shredded? Like to know yours and anybody elses' take with the multiple setups.

Not sure if that's the visual I was going for. :uhh: But I would be just as delicate with the inside of your glass wand as if it were your old chap or lady chap respectfully.
I do push the 1 inch strip with equal pressure with my wooden handle, in such a manner, so the ridge end of the silicone strip of tube is squeegeeing the inside of the wand. Pretty much the strip is telescoped inside the wand. The wooden handle I choose to use as the handle of the umm....'umbrella' has a little more give, SO I am less likely too apply too much force, like say with a metal poker glass breaky thingy.:ugh: (Also why I use it as an elbow/tip hat packer.) But once the strip is pushed all the way through and pops out the other end of the wand, I can scrape the goodness off the ridge end. And then try not to think about STD tests. Why did I look up umbrella STD checks?

When you first try the 14mm setup, try out the Auto-Pack. Measure out your desired quantity of herb, load a preheated adapter, insert wand and draw with enough force to pull the herb up into the basket. Once the product rises, continue your draw at your desired pace. Unless you fully packed the adapter, you can achieve a single extraction for your set temperature.

This method is desirable for those who normally use the elbow pack method, resulting in the perfect level of tamping.

Nobody can resist a bit of VAS. ;). Hopefully the variety of the kit puts that off for a bit... :)

Thanks CF! With your response, i'm not going to look further into this topic!

I've face palmed enough this week already!

Does anyone else's heater assembly adapter have a wobble to it? Whether I use the stock cyclone bowl or the DDave adapter, the piece below wobbles slightly. Still works perfectly, just wondering if this is normal or if most people have a perfectly solid heater/adapter assembly?

Thanks,

Mine does ever so-slightly. Not sure if it was intentional or not... Never really bugged me, tho.

Very common. Due to slight differences heater or glass adapters.

Both myself and another FC member have tested (for lack of better words) wobble vs. air tight and found that regardless of wobble, the connection is air tight.

On a positive side note, the wobble may actually be a positive. I have heard of plenty of ground glass joints getting stuck. While there are methods to get these unstuck, like heating... or avoid sticking in the first place like beeswax, it's my belief that a bit of wobble could help avoid this stuck condition in the first place...

A little wobble? My EQ has had a small amount of that I guess. But conversely, some of my pieces will fuse to the adapter at the higher temps. I'm guessing glass expands more with heat and can contribute to the stuck problem. I agree with @DDave that having a little bit of give can be a good thing. As I've tried to unstuck different pieces before. I get worried about doing damage to my EQ. I never had one stick until after heating it for some time. If that were the case, then I would be more worried about that type of thing occurring. For me, usually waiting for the unit to cool down is the best approach. But I try to get with the other techniques, in case of a problem. :ugh:

I also have small silicone strips around the top of a few of the mod F/F's I own, for extra grip and for a small amount of heat insulation. Sometimes it helps the tongs with a little more gripping power too. Now I'm not anywhere near as clumsy with my setups and there is less mishaps at CFRLB. And also having the tools on standby for any meltdown. The tongs are on stand-by, in case I have to remove a fuel rod from the reactive core. :o

Also when I place F/F's bowls on the adapter, I'll sometimes give them a 1/4 turn, to seat them more evenly on the adapter. I don't bear down or anything. Just find a spot that it likes. Like say when giving a 4 legged table a 1/4 of a turn to fix a small leg wobble problem.

EDIT- Just fixed the link

Herb gardener...
Iv just been through the process of leak testing the stock and @DDave kit. And I can assure you that no matter how bad it wobbles, it is air tight. Iv checked the heater cover to adapter, and adapter to wand/elbow.

These ground glass joints are a standard thing that have been used in labs for some time. They are supposed to be lubricated to ensure a good seal and prevent a frozen joint. But in science I would only use lube if there were anything wet passing through it. No lube is fine for gas. Or vapour in our case.

Enjoy your ddave @Treeburner.

I have come up with a way to test the fan pressure for resistance. When there is very little resistance in the pathway, my simple bubbler/honey catcher will bubble on fan setting one. (F1) Borrowing a little bit of a plumber's trick. If F2 doesn't push out a little bubble, then I know something is up.
It is fun listening to the bottom of the stem pulse out a beat with the water splashing in sync with the fan running. Play with the hose and change the impact of the splash. Kind of musical. Like a water glass tom-tom. :haw:

So I can do a dry run on all my new setups to check for problems and evaluate all my setups at CFRLB.

Also I can use the fan for assistance when drawing from my water tool. To finish vaporizing the last amount and avoid having to stir the last of the bowl/pack.:peace:

Not impossible to get a log but certainly a pain in the arse as I am in OZ & apparently significant waiting lists:shrug:. Hell Arizer could make a stripped down V Tower based unit specifically designed to be inverted for water use since there would be no fan requirement. Build it & they will buy or at least I would buy especially is it is reasonably priced.

That is pretty much what I am aiming for :). I simply end up way too medicated of an evening using 5-6 full elbow packs on a school night. Not an issue but wasteful if you know what I mean.

Nobody can resist a bit of VAS. ;). Hopefully the variety of the kit puts that off for a bit... :)

Looking at various vapes outside a couple that are three times the price there is nothing that will be significantly better than a deluxe modded EQ.
