hi all! long time SSV owner registered because although i love my current portable i have high hopes for 7th floor gear! i saw the email today and my jaw dropped! i have a mighty and love it but this is too tempting, and with the glass mouthpiece too! wow. i will follow this thread for a little bit and then maybe be part of the preorder crew cheers all!

Gotta agree with comments ,no picture no interest. I was never a blind date person , gotta see what you are getting into. At least some basics large,small, nice curves etc

I'm not sure that dissmissing conduction, in vape design, is always best. After using the mighty close to a year now, a hybrid ?, I think s and b does this ballance between all the factors very well in their mighty. If this new 7th floor vape does as well as the mighty, but is $100 or there about less, and you can easily access batteries. With all that this vape will or should be popular, but time (and early testers) will tell. Since I have a portable, I'll wait.

It's already been declared that this vaporizer will use conduction heating while the SSV is a pure convection heating vaporizer. While it should be immediately clear that portable vaporizers are in a very different technological space from desktops, I think a lot of us (maybe you included, definitely myself) made an initial assumption that since convection vaporizers are 7th Floor's claim to fame that any portable that they added to their line up would also be convection.

But then 7th Floor announced this device without calling out the distinction. Which brings to mind the question of why. Do they not realize the importance of this feature to their users despite their history of delivering specifically that? Did they intentionally omit this fact from their product page knowing that said feature is important? I'm having trouble coming up with an explanation that isn't driven by either ignorance or apathy, and neither of those give me a lot of faith in the company's decisions as a whole; so if anything I have become less incentivized to ever preorder from them. And I'm someone who invested big in SSV (I have my own custom wave rider).

This doesn't even touch how they started asking for money before they even had pictures, let alone a demo. I'm also not thrilled with Herb-nerd arguing semantics against this forum when he knew very well what we wanted and why what was being delivered wasn't that. I understand the reflex to get defensive about something you've worked hard on, but being able to acknowledge your short comings is the only way to make a superior product. The discussions here scare me that that part didn't happen, and I've seen a share of inferior product releases that resulted from people trying to cover their own asses. Someone else can pay 300 (225, whatever) to beta test this one.

Personally, I'm typically a 'wait and see' kinda guy, but I would like to go on record to say I sincerely appreciate all of you 'early adopters' who shell out some substantial bank to 'beta test' such products!

7th Floor has posted some short videos on the side kick. No demo yet, but gives you a better idea of the build design.

Steve should just stick to running his company rather than "trying" to be a spokesman. His fake, over-the-top enthusiasm was a bit hard to swallow.

Almost reminded me of Crazy Eddie.....


Really anxious to see some on-hand reports once this puppy gets released though.

I like the cooling coil, digital temp, and the built in ability to stir, but at its price point I'm not sure that puts it drastically over its competition. The herb chamber also looked pretty small in the video, which could be a good or a bad thing

I don't understand why 7th Floor doesn't do more demo videos (such as the one @Herb-nerd posted in the super surfer thread). The main appeal of their vaporizers, to me at least, is that their actual performance is top notch. Everyone I've handed my DBV to is instantly sold by the thick visible vapor it produces over multiple hits. I feel like both the new SideKick and Super Surfer would do so much better if they just released an official video of someone having a long full session with the device (especially cranked up to high temps ) . I have faith that both of their newer vapes deliver good performance, just based on reputation, but seeing them in action would spur actual purchases.

Our apologies for not getting this answer to your sooner. When you purchase the Sidekick, it will come with a 60 day warranty, but as soon as you go to our website and register your vape, your warranty is extended to 1 year. An extended 3 year warranty will be available for about $50.

From my experience, to reach around 400°F, it took around 60 seconds.

The mustache,the excitement,the size of the vaporizer itself. It's a bit um…I'm really not sure. Definatly put me in a holding pattern to wait and see what happens. I do feel like I was just pitched a used car. Like I've said the lsv is a tollerance murderer so if this can come close then it should be a good vaporizer. A Conduction vaporizer though to me means it will need to be an a++++ vaporizer before I get real interested

Hahaha yesssssss, so classic, also calls to mind this recent parody:

I am impressed by the spiral vapor path, crazy long, all steel and fully removable for easy cleaning. Just need giant pipe cleaners!

Stir mech is great, especially seeing that its a fairly wide bowl, definitely should help make that kind of conduction bowl style more efficient, tasty, and effective.

Also nice how the bowl is at the top, but vapor travels underneath (like the Falcon), easy loading and unloading it seems. Size makes more sense now seeing all the internal parts.

Unfortunate about the short warranty though, compared to the competition, you need to pay another 50 and its already priced pretty steep, but then again so is the Mighty, the primary competitor for this? We'll see if the power can compare though I suppose... Still not for me due to constant cooking probably, but itd be an interesting one to try out for sure. Cost certainly prevents me from that though

Jeeez man. I know you only use .0000005 a day, but maybe you need to load .0000006 and .

It's not like they were going to evade the question forever.

Anyhow, I hope the taste will be like my LSV or DBV. Curious to see what mods and such people will come up with.

If that's what you're hoping for you'll probably be disappointed. I don't think any portable conduction vape is going to match the taste of a plug in full convection vape. That'd be neat though.

I don't think the Sidekick is designed to have nearly as much convection as the Mighty of Crafty. I'd say the Prima or PAX 2 would probably be closer competitors.

Wow, that's surprising and quite honestly doesn't inspire confidence in a product that is priced towards the top of the range and made in China. (I mention China only to point out the vastly lower production costs of products made there versus those made in Western industrialized countries.)

Sixty days out of the box is laughable, only a year after jumping through some hoops, and then one can buy an extended warranty? If 7th Floor doesn't have faith regarding the longevity of their new portable why should I?

In my opinion with so much competition out there beating the SideKick in both price and warranty terms this would have to offer something truly revolutionary to succeeded in what's quickly becoming a very crowded market.

I thought the tongue in cheek promo videos were fun.

Me too. 7th floor has never been great at PR or advertising, it's their products that make a lasting impression. Seeing the quirky side of Steve makes it more personal, you can tell he is passionate about his products.

Seeing the product being held does make it look a bit nicer than just a static image.
