When do you think the first Grasshoppers (in BOXES!) will ship?

Anyone else see the irony of being on page 169 of the official GH thread, and the backers still haven't received their hoppers?

We're gunna have to make a 'Real Official Grasshopper Thread' once the product actually starts getting delivered to customers (preorders) as well as investors (backers).

There are people who could've gotten their hoppers a YEAR AGO and it still wouldn't be considered "fast" by any reasonable standard.

Not sure who you think you're kidding.

"Fast" would be receiving your hopper before the estimated shipping date, not multiple months, in some cases even a year and multiple months after.

I'm confused. I'm saying fast is not possible if you want a cheap , quality product which is what backers and pre-orders are getting. Once they catch up and have them in stock it will fall into the fast & quality vertex.

fwiw, I've managed to moderate my VAS for the Grasshopper this past month by pre-ordering a new Nexus phone. Its a ~1 month wait until shipping, and I've been watching reddit like a hawk all month long waiting for this bad boy phone to ship. What's funny is that even though reviews for the phone have been quite positive, there are a handful of people who lock on to any flaw and cancel their orders -- but only after making that one final, vitriolic post. "Battery life is average compared to ___", "Vibration motor is too obtrusive." "Screen isn't nearly as bright as the ____. Or maybe it is." Its amazing how similar the discussions there are to the Grasshopper discussions...some people are just losing their mind over this phone and seeing doom and gloom everywhere they look.

So hopefully I'll get my phone this week and I'll be able to redirect my own panic and rage back to this thread.
Hahaha! So true. I got my new Nexus last week and have been reading all the same stuff as you. Hilarious really. The phone world has gone insane with Spec Freaks.

On the grasshopper website my ship date was listed for October, but as the month is ending I sent an email to grasshopper support asking if they could put my mind at ease. Caroline told me that my order will likely not be shipped until late November but that estimates won't be updated until they finish upgrading their website.

I thought they were expecting to get up to speed by now after they brought in machinery or whatever to help with the assembly process.

I'm trying to be understanding and remind myself that there are others who have been waiting longer than myself (I placed my order in February) but I'm starting to get a little irritated.

I actually got an email last night from Google saying that my 128gb Nexus 6P order is now delayed 2 weeks and they are giving me a $25 discount for my trouble. It was supposed to arrive yesterday. So my phone drama continues. Lots of similarities with the GH (e.g order status still shows the original ship date even though its been missed).... though at least Google can afford to throw $25 at me and their delays can be measured in weeks instead of years.

I have 3 different pre orders this year and all 3 shipping "estimates" have been bumped.

Guess that's why they are called estimated shipping dates.

It's a race!

For a little context, GHL would have to make twice as many hoppers in the next 4 weeks as they have in the last 4 months to finish backers by late November. They're still ~2000 units away from filling backer orders. That's building, testing, and shipping 5x as many/week as they've ever done, starting right now (they're still on November 25th backers, no rush of notifications yet, unknown parts delays, etc). And we have no idea how many pre-orders have been sold before you. Just sayin, if you're flirting w/ irritation, well you have awhile to convert it to something else, cause so far 100% of GHL estimates for anything have been extreme best case scenarios.

I for one am excited to wait, we all know the shipping isnt accurate and never has been, so why let it bother you? Why let your imagination run rampant, its only going to annoy you, and you still wont have a GH.

A watched pot never boils..

This isnt life saving medicine, this shouldnt be so important to your life where it effects your attitude ever, let alone day to day.

Oh you and your "should"s. As a backer I paid for the whole ride, including the waiting, I wish there was way more transparency and detail, manufacturing is slow but it's interesting stuff. I want less of the dialogue to be people feeling irritated and people telling them not to feel. But, expectations have been set, people get room to have their reaction, even if it makes for a boring read.

Is it my imagination that several weeks ago GHL changed my estimated shipping from Sept. to Oct.?
No, they did that deliberately. In good faith maybe, but still wrong as it turns out.

I didn't just decide on my own when I thought I'd get mine and then get impatient when real life didn't live up to my fantasies.

...though I have an "estimated" delivery for Oct., I'm hoping to maybe have mine by the 2 year anniversary of when I ordered my Ti Model...which will be Dec. 14th.:tup:

...if they miss that date, I'm pretty sure (cautiously) that it will be in my hands for the 3rd year anniversary...:rofl::rofl:

...and why has there been no mention of boxes lately? Is there some conspiracy by GHL to suppress information about the boxes? Seems suspicious that we have not seen any pictures of these treasures in many a week now...:shrug::hmm::lmao:

They meant all outstanding orders as in everyone who has given them money. That's what "all" and "outstanding" mean.

Here's the email I got from Trevorline this morning:

We received the new parts yesterday and our assembly team is fast at work getting Grasshoppers assembled as quickly as possible.

Best,
Caroline

"All outstanding orders" doesn't necessarily mean assembled and shipped in one fell swoop, but probably means over the course of many assembly cycles over an undetermined extended period of time.

I cannot discern tone. However thanks for the clarification, though objectively that's implicit..

Hmmmm... I ordered in June, delivery estimated October, bumped to November. Someone else said they ordered in February, and heard directly to expect late November. Also, if I understand correctly, they still haven't shipped out most of the backers from 2014 yet. But new parts are in, failures are down, and the vaporizer elves are hard at work. Even so, I'm going to go ahead and figure it'll be at least December before I get mine.

It's fine with me though. I'm patient.

Well this next update (in 4 days) should be interesting:popcorn:

I'm going out on a limb here, but it may look something like:

-The parts are in
-We're hard at work
-Expecting our biggest production month ever
-Failure rates are down
-Website will be updated soon
-We apologize for pushing orders back
-We appreciate your patience
-The Grasshopper Team
