Is K.O. inevitable?

Herb gardener...
Iv been vaping about 6 weeks now. During the week I only vape after work.
I normally vape at 6 ish and am sleeping by 10. If I vape at the weekend in the morning, at about 10., iv ended up sleeping by 2 o clock in the afternoon.

So my question is, Is It Inevitable that I will pass out 4 hours after vaping. Caus that seems to be how it is. Even if I only vape at low temps, i get energised, but i still end up sleeping in the end.

Maybe I just cant wake and vape. Unless I have a few hours spare in the day to sleep it off.

Try a lower dosage, and wait out the effects. Take one hit and wait 15-30 minutes. You may be taking more than you can actually handle. Also, sometimes If you Vape a sativa with uplifting effects, the buzz lasts 4 hours than you have a body crash of sorts. It's like coming down off of coffee or sugar.

What time was your bedtime before you started vaping?

I wish I could nap, anytime, ever. :)

I started with edabs at 4:15am after getting to work. I will be up until my 9pm bedtime with no naps.

It takes practice..

I think its just the dosage you are using.

Try have half the amount you normally have and see what happens.

The herb effects people in slightly different ways, it might just be the case that with you over a certain high will cause you to sleep. You may have to choose between being super high and guaranteed to sleep. Or not quite so high but able to stay awake :)

Yeah I'm vaping 80/20 sativa.
I used to have real insomnia problems so I am loving the knock out. I'm not complaining about that in the week. I just wish I could have a vape on a weekend morning without it causing me to crash at lunch time.

I know for me, if I indulge too much, I'll need myself a little nap in a few hours more than likely. I'd try vaping a little less like the others suggested.

I have also heard other people suggest things like keeping your energy levels up by consuming some natural sugars.

I find I start to get sleepy when I sit down for too long, doesn't matter if i'm high or not. :p

I just need to move for a while, get the oxygen and the blood flowing around the body. Maybe a 5 min walk will help if there is solid reason why a nap can not happen that day.

I'm the exact same way...

I usually reserve my session for right before bedtime, as to control my tolerance, it truly gives me something very special to look forward to every night.

Could I just sit and Vape all day? Absolutely! .... But, that night time session will lose it's glory.

I do have to do some Vaping during the day if my nausea starts acting up, but just like you.. I'm gonna end up taking a nap.

It's been over 4 months since I quit the Bustion, and the Vapor continues to blow my mind.

I find that the sativa/indica way of splitting up effects to be very ineffective. My Tahoe for instance is very indica dom as far as growth characteristics, but I really just get more of a body effect without the drowsiness. The strawberry Kush pheno I have, on the other hand... although a Kush, grows with more Sativa characteristics, putting out genetic foxtails and really pushing that flower time. It knocks me right out a few hours after. (I find that to be pretty typical of all Kush fwiw.)

I guess the point being, each strain has differing characteristics. Although some growers believe the profile of a high can be emphasized to be more cerebral or couch-lock depending on how early or late into the harvest window a grower decides to chop, most experienced growers just grow plants until they are fully ripe (20-50% amber/cloudy trichs) and you are really going to want to base experiences off that full cannabinoid profile produced by that particular plant.

I find with my vaporizer there is a definite delay (of around 10-15 minutes) before the high finally HITS.

So I would suggest using less herb and waiting a short amount of time between a couple of hits to see where you're actually at. That delay can wreck you haha!

I find this too. I think I do vape more than I need to. I just love loading the short adapter and vaping for half hour solid. This is what incapacitates me. Maybe it's still the smoker in me but I enjoy making clouds and the process of inhaling sweet vapour. I haven't smoked in 6 weeks now.

I don't want to just have one hit and leave it. That feels more like a class a drug to me. Does this make sense to anyone.?

I'm sure I'll manage to dial it in eventually.

I am the same way, I absolutely love the whole process of vaporization, watching the thick greasy looking vapor traveling through my whip.

Then holding it in ... Exhale, take in more fresh air repeat.

Recover from the sweat inducing bubble hash rip, then do it again .

I know I'm loading more herb and hash that is required, it's just still kinda odd to me transitioning from smoking 2 gram joints, all the way down to 0.1 grams or less.

I need to get a set of scales that accurately weigh to the hundredth.
My current scales have served me well over a decade (back when digital scales were expensive).

I'm actually going to start limiting my loads from now on,.... My session usually runs about 30 minutes also, which I enjoy every blissful moment...

But, I know I'm wasting some material simply because I'm loading too much, and honestly after the 6th or seventh draw, I'm hammered... I tend to over-indulge which leads to me passing out in my damn chair.

Time to manage my load size and make this as efficient as possible.

Jeez, is that what it is!

Honestly I just thought I was getting old and my miss-spent childhood / teens / 20's & 30's , were simply catching up on me.

I've always been a night person, used to work night shifts in my youth and have even partied from Thursday to Monday night non-stop every week for a year, giving myself pneumonia in my 20's.

However, recently even the missus had said how I have been falling asleep in front of the TV @ 9pm or 10pm, before she goes to bed, which never happens, as I normally go to bed @ 12am-1am or sometimes later.

But reading this thread and thinking about it, it's probably started to happen about the time I got a proper vape!

On occasion I did think, wow, bit of a light weight these days, used to sit smoking non-stop at the weekend, now I use far less and simply put that down to vaporising efficiency.

I too will have a vape first thing on a Saturday, just like when I combusted and skinned up, and although I still get up and do things such as wash the car, do the gardening, do the hovering etc..

After the chores, I sit down and have a vape, watch T.V. with dinner, have another vape... get woken up by the missus, going to bed @ 10pm/11pm.

So reading this, perhaps I'm not so old and lightweight and it's a vaporising phenomenon I need to learn and adjust to.

Or maybe I am :myday:

Interesting you brought this up @kellya86 as I think we are on similar journeys having quit @ the same time.

You didn't mention what temps you vaped at? Try lower temperatures and like others said maybe a bit less? Half hour vape sessions sounds like a lot of herb or a lot of temperature to get those cloudy hits you want. Coffee perhaps?

I vape from 180 to 210. Which I assumed was low temps. Compared to what iv seen others are using on here. 230+.

@1DMF, I think your right, we are on similar journey's, I can relate to most of your posts.

Since rebuilding my eq, it seems to be alot more efficient. Meaning I am vaping at lower temps but achieving the same vapour quality.

Iv even tried just vaping at 190 then dumping it for later and vaping another 190 if I need to.
But this seems to get me all energetic and buzzy for 3 hours then I still sleep.

I think as someone said, I just need to vape less. At night time now I only vape 1 adapter throughout the whole night. And I'm still knock out by 10.

The temps affect the experience itself and higher temps can probably bring more out of the KO.
But I believo the KO is just caused by vaping too much weed at once.
I don't get crashes when I vape up to 2/3 ELB in my EVO.
But when I vape more at a time, mostly in group settings, the KO is inevitable, no matter the temp used.

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
I consider anything below 190 to be 'low temp' and cerebral, and anything over 190 to be high temp and couch lock.

I would never go over 205c because of the toxins that start to creep in at that temp.

Sometimes if I dab too much it knocks me out.

@h3rbalist according to the info I found on Solo temps...

Temp Level 2: 185° C / 365° F
Temp Level 3: 190° C / 374° F
Temp Level 4: 195° C / 383° F
Temp Level 5: 200° C / 392° F

Taken from:- http://arizersolo.net/faqs/what-tem...sent-on-the-arizer-solo-where-should-i-start/

So if I only use level 2 & 3, the K.O should be reduced. However, the clouds subside pretty quick at those settings, I tend to find 4 to be the sweet spot for clouds and 5 to finish it off.

Looks like I might need 3 tubs, one for herb, one for partially vaped ABV and one for fully vaped ABV (I currently have 2 tubs)

Though I'm not keen on the taste of partially vaped when revisiting a session, so perhaps as @Seek says, I simply need to just vape less

With the Solo I found my AVB to be so dark after vaping at level 5 and above it's just not worth saving. Imo.

I would only ever keep particularly vaped ABV. (Weed vaped at normal temps below 190c - solo lev 3) I would re grind and revape it at high temps late at night or store it and make my incredibly strong budder for edibles.

not inevitable, I would think it's either due to the strain or amount(as others already said). I do occassionally get the effect you describe, but only late at night(3-6 AM), usually when I've already build up a little sleep deprivation the days before and I'm not doing something intensive(like gaming), but just watching tv or listening to music, then I'll get the urge to lay down on my couch and the next moment I remember it's starting to get light outside.

Ok gentlemen...

Last night, I nailed it....

I was knowingly overloading my wand, sometimes a full bowl on my DBV.

Last night I filled it 1/4 full, and a much more sensible amount of hash, maybe a fat dabs worth.

The vapor was still very gratifying, but of course not as thick.

I was very high at 5 draws but counted out 7 pulls and put the wand down.
Turned off the Vape, and the TV.

Felt fantastic as my head hit the pillow, drifted off into a blissful slumber with a smile plastered on my warm glowing face.

Transitioning from smoking to vaporization has been a majestic journey in which I've found to be an ever evolving process, each session brings forth various nuances of intrigue and glorious profound effects.

I actually went to Denver this past weekend to watch Doug Benson do some Stand-Up Comedy, and brought my backup DBV with me (SUV has a AC outlet, which I just added a three prong adapter... Works just like home)

Believe it or not, this was the first time I didn't add any Hash to the load :D...

It was some 6 month cured Sour Diesel..me and a friend got extremely high before the show, my buddy had never Vaped cannabis before ...only a smoker.

Near the end of the session, I looked at his face, and he could of been blindfolded with dental floss .

Needless to say, the show was awesome, and I learned if I don't add a fat pile of hash to my sessions, I can stay awake and enjoy my beloved cannabis...as opposed to going directly to sleep with a perma-grin.

The next day, my buddy texted me saying..
"Dude, I've never been so damn high in my life, where can I buy one of those Buddhas?":D

Looks like I might need 3 tubs

I have 3 cups that stack on top of eachother that sit next to my eq. One for fresh, one for partially vaped, and one for avb. Sometimes I add a tiny sprinkle of fresh to the partially vaped bit as I load to aid with the taste. It seems to work really well. I get the thick high temp vapour, but laced with terps and flavs. I like it.
