If you've got glass you can get away without a hydratube if that's what's holding you back but dude, you should at least buy the base package.
The Firewood looks really beautiful but it sounds like you have enough pretty vapes & you could use a desktop workhorse.
I use an enano (which I love) with the same glass as the Evo, & while it milks up nicely obviously the Evo hits a lot harder.
No other vape I own gives me the huge hits through water as this one does but I have read some people use it as a sipper, I am definitely not one of those people.
Comparing it to my other vapes is like night & day, & by that I mean I get more done if I use the Evo at night & the others during the day
I want to say have fun deciding but it sounds like it's been a two week struggle
Personally I don't see why someone like you who really enjoys vaping & wouldn't buy one of these.Hope I'm the person who sways you.

With the prices of the current sale, you'd be crazy NOT to get an EVO. If you're looking to save a bit of cash, opt for just the base package and use your existing glass. You'd have to make an adapter to use the VXNails, but it's not too big a deal.
But at the current price, you should just pull the trigger on a package with a hydratube.
You'll look back a month from now, and wonder why you even debated it to begin with!

it is a massdrop evo. i told him he should think about sending it in but he was entirely opposed to it. even though its just collecting dust at his house! crazy.
while im sad to know his evo isn't right i'm glad to know my concern was warranted.
maybe i will get one on sale but we will see.

its been collecting dust for so long. i thought it was a bad vape for a long time actually because he would never use it. i guess its a good thing i found this thread?
if i end up getting an evo i would like to use it with a whip and a female 18mm connector. i am a fan of whip rips. does anyone have any tips for this or is it pretty much cut and clear?

Haha yeah @Roth and @Poostuff but really I wouldn't even be interested at all if it weren't for the hydratube so that really woundnt make sense even though I have so much glass already (I'd probably sooner buy an LSV again?). Could just get the tube but can't justify spending that much on just one glass piece... Plus I obv want to try the Evo itself alltogether, to have it under my belt I suppose, and the sale is the push, may even resell the unit after

I would say go for the EVO @Shit Snacks ...... the Firewood is too similar to the Firefly/Zion and I think the EVO would really blow your socks off.
I opted for the Hydratree, and its a really nicely blown piece of glass. Quality is top notch. Don't know if its a requirement, but I wouldn't want to use mine without the tube. (not to say its bad, just would want water somehow)
It is a bit of a punch to the wallet, but....if you want it later, it will be a bigger punch. I am currently shopping around my Firefly and some of my lesser used glass though as well, to make up for the hit Take the plunge!

The bottoms are open, but most of the bubbles don't actually exit through the bottom when you're drawing because there are two horizontal slits just above the bottom of each arm that are meant to turn one bubble into two, add more diffusion, etc.
Edit: damnit, I dont know much about glass but after reading up I really wish they were closed bottom or one of the same slits on the bottom

Keep in mind, I have never owned a tree style perc, but wouldn't open bottoms create a more drag free experience?
I guess you'd get less diffusion if you pull hard and bubbles come out the bottom, but it doesn't seem like that's too much of an issue.
I look at it like the bottom row of slits in a Matrix perc. They don't fire when you're hitting a vape, but they allow for a more drag free experience.

Might add, I like the amount of drag/diffusion being done by this thing...its perfect medium. I have other stuff if I want more percs, other stuff if I want less. Thing hits nice though!
And I take about 10 minutes of prep after I turn the EVO on...it's always ready to go!

One thing you might have missed is that the "black goo" that grows in this fluid is probably bacteria, not mold. You can mitigate this hazard by using some citric acid crystals in your mix to lower the PH. This keeps things much fresher, much longer, for those in the know.

That vid helped push me over the edge @HellsWindStaff, great stuff, I just had to have that tube at the very least and the Evo is the cherry on top that will keep me sane waiting on 3 incredible portables... Seems its the kind of tube that doesn't milk as much bc its all going straight into your lungs, risky but fun business!
I guess now I don't have to agonize over the decision and sell out worries anymore!
So i take it its FedEx signature required, but it ships near next day? If I leave a note anyone think they'd leave it on my porch? Otherwise I guess I'd have to get it from FedEx myself?

BTW, Could anyone suggest a concentrate that works best with this xnail? I'd really like to avoid the gooey shit and go for some hard shatter or budder? Anything stand out that performs better or are they all pretty much the same? Also should I expect to waste a lot of it while learning the proper technique and temp? Thanks!

I haven't tried bubble hash, but all other concentrates work just fine, ime. Shatter works great. If you follow the recommendations in this thread, you should have success right out of the box. Just start with a very small dab. The only time I've wasted concentrates with the Evo is when I tried to use too big of a dab. Have fun.I would be there to sign for it!

The VXNail works equally well with any type of fully melting concentrate. Shatters, budder, wax, sap, all good to go. If you're using some bubble hash, I'd probably stick that in an ELB, maybe with a little bud too.
Good to hear, I think you'll be pleased! VXL typically ships very quickly. I placed an order yesterday for a 5-pack of Quartz VXNails and they shipped out the same day. Glad I picked them up then, they were sold out less then an hour later!
Regarding FedEx, I don't remember if VXL ships sig required. If you put in the tracking number on FedEx's website, you should be able to see whether it has sig required or not. I know on UPS, you can often pre-authorize a shipment to be released, assuming FedEx might have something similar. Otherwise, yes, sign a piece of paper saying you release them to leave the package. It depends on your driver, but I've always had that work.

And for all the soon to be EVO owners, the "fast" heat soak method many here use is this:
1) Turn EVO on to max temp
2) When the LED turns green, turn the temp back down to where you want to vape (noon, whatever)
3) When the EVO turns green again, it's good to go!
This doesn't take long, and helps accelerate the process of getting your EVO nice and warmed up. You can definitely hit the EVO as soon as it turns green. But if you want those massive hits, having it on for a little bit can greatly aid in that endeavor.
When you guys hold the bottom end of the bamboo with your finger (to create a seal) and then pull through ur HT, does any air come through at all?
I ask because my EVO fell off of a desk yesterday, but luckily landed on a plush carpet. I thought it was fine and it seemed to be working like normal, couldnt see any cracks on the bamboo or anything, but now when I plug the bottom of the bamboo and pull really hard (like as hard as i can) some air will still make its way through. Its only a little, as my percolator only produces bubbles once every two or threee seconds when im pulling as hard as I possibly can.
Is my bamboo cracked or can you guys get a little bit of air to come through also? Gonna try pulling through it without the HT when i get home later to see if maybe the ground glass connection is a little off (my HT wobbles on top of my EVO ever so slightly).

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that sounds bad. If you have a good seal on the bottom, there should be ZERO air getting through.
If you try without the HT, I'd suggest blowing rather than sucking. Just in case there are some little glass shards you can't see, wouldn't want to suck those into my mouth.
The real test will be trying to hit it with some herb in there. When my bamboo was cracked, I had combustion very quickly. You'll know right away if something is wrong.
