Rosin Technique....Easy DIY Solventless

He's using D-Nail's new material, they're supposed to be released with full details once they've confirmed it's safe for rosin pressing.
Yup I've heard quite a bit about this one from D-nail people, it is NOT PTFE but that's all I know.

Can't wait for it to get out there, in the meantime, slick wrap is AMAZING!!!

I have been mostly dabbing full melt lately rather than rosin though, my last 4 bubble washes of the same material yielded WEIGHT and it all seems to be full melt for the first 3 washes! So far I've only dried out and dabbed the 120u (5 star) and the 25u (6 star), both of which were full melt! :D

I'm developing my policy for how to extract different materials, so far for hashes my approach is if it is 1-4 star hash, it gets squished into rosin. 5 and 6 star are dabbed as is.

I have been using much less absolutes only because I've been working a lot and can't dab THC during the day, rosin and full melt are my night time medicine (although I find a dab of full melt to start the day works quite well so long as it isn't too big - very uplifting effect thanks to additional terps (YMMV, depending on strain) :D

Herbivore is in flavor country right now!

Here's a 300x of the 6 star, very hard to focus because they're such tiny headies:

negative sir, the bags are what he's selling, but in the vid he is using some mystery material as parchment that I like and want to know more.

copy that. next time ill watch the video first!

do we know what those bags are made of? same shit as the bubble bags? those things could be made easily for not much of an investment.

random note my plates are being drilled tonight by someone who has the means to do it right. i should be squishing by saturday. cant fucking wait.

also has anyone tried to press abv? ive got a few zips of light chocolate brown abv. is it worth squishing? obviously one would want to use a filter. anyone done this?
i imagine it would make some sappy couch locky type of meds, but not very much.

I tried it for kicks, no real results. Not too surprised really. Moisture is the car that takes the juice for a ride, right?

I think the bags are just silk screen material, dirt cheap on ebay in all microns, but I could be wrong

Back when I had "more than I could use", i was blasting through my weed quickly and not even stirring it to finish it off. I picked out some of the best ABV nugs and pressed them without a screen for science. (I keep my abv in a jar with boveda 62%)

Abv nugs? I'm intrigued :freak:

Were you not grinding your herb before vaporizing?

All my abv is ground up material.

being a screenprinter inshould be able to find plenty of this shit. totally going to make custom sizes. we have a sewing machine so no sweat.

also... my plates are drilled and are almost perfect! squishing tomorrow for the first time!

It was the darkest rosin I have made yet and it worked just fine. It did taste different than regular rosin but I am not very good at describing taste. It was not very terpy at all, if I remember right.. ;)

Nice plates @2clicker .

i assumed it wouldnt taste great but if there are goodies still in there then i want them! i think inam going to make some filter bags and press the abv in them.

I have dabbed abv before and all I can say is that it tastes exactly like it smells. Sort of has a hay taste to it if that makes sense?

I love using abv to make caps and edibles. It definitely is not worth dabbing unless you have no other meds especially because it is not very potent.

Some of my items for my vise setup are arriving tonight :D I'll try to get some pics up this weekend!

I'm looking forward to the modifications on the small D-Nail press as batch 1 will be shipped out next week. It would be a shame for D-Nail to fall out of favor with consumers because they released an inferior product.

after watching that bubbleman video it looks to me like the dnail press works pretty damn well. then again the starting material that BM is using is likley very good to begin with.

Here is that premature bud I accidentally broke off a few days ago, I just squished it and it was a gusher. About 4 days cure and it was still on the stem before the squish.

I just lost my rosin virginity. But I'm a born again virgin come Monday because I want to lose my rosin virginity again, but the right way this next time, with the right squishing jaws ;)

For now, a hair straightener works, but the round jaws are going to crush even harder

So is a hair straightener and vice grip the best, cheap set up at the moment? And I normally dab bho and other solvent-based extracts. Should I press flowers, or try to get cheap hash that isn't dabbable and press that? I'm just trying to figure out the most economical way to do this.

Yes hair straightener and vise seems to be the best. It will run you about $100-$150 depending on cost of hair straightener. If you can afford @Joel W.'s custom cuni jaws and a pair of soldering irons, that is by far the best setup that is still only about $250 for everything.

I am going to stick with mainly pressing flowers. It seems to work the best for me. I don't have access to cheap hash and I am giving up on making it (for now, I may get a bubble wash machine and try that at some point, but dry sift is out the door for me). Plus oil seems to get trapped in the screens that you have to use to press hash.

Honestly I say this enough it's become my catch-phrase: Hit up the local thrift shop and grab a hair iron for $5 or so (try for one with actual temps displayed) and just smash a few buds, see if you like it. I was getting 10-15% back after my first try or two with just that, pressing the iron with bodyweight. Then later you can grab a cheap c-clamp or vise and just shove the iron in, or get all DIY and make something cool. There's lots of ways to get more and better, but the entry level is still really good IMO.

Well my rosin spree was short lived. Bowed out both flat iron plates so there is a gap in the middle now when they come together.

I guess I was cranking down too hard. I was only putting my hole body into turning the wrench

I guess this is why @Joel W.'s plates are so beast! They can withstand 100 ft lbs. These irons could barely take 10 ft lbs (if I was even cranking that hard )

Nice , but why does it look like ' zebra stripes ' rosin ?
Are you pressing whole buds or pre-grind ? and it looks like it's been
folded too . I usually get a silhouette of the flatten bud surrounded by
lovely goo , like the other pics .

I'm really enjoying using these , minus the cheese cloths .
Plus get one with an LED temp. readout . this Conair doesn't
have one , so I've been maxing it at aprox. 250 F . I'm quite happy
with this DIY for now ...

I have no idea what caused the stripes

It was fine material from the bottom of a bag. Pretty crappy stuff but most of the rosin is stuck to the bag so I won't be using bags anymore. I'll be sticking to squishing a single 0.5-1g bud in parchment with no filter. This seems to work best for me right now :)
