If your grind is too fine it's possible some particulate will accumulate in the vapor & make it harsh even with those fine screens on the valves.
I'd try a courser grind but more importantly I'd also check your grinder for tiny bits of stainless coating or acrylic chipping off depending on the type you use. Imo some aren't meant for long term use. Good luck.

Hello all, I was curious to know how often does everyone here clean their instruments for the volcano. I use the volcano once a week just for herbs only and I only use a small amount of herbs and the liquid pad to keep it in place. I havent cleaned nor replaced anything, which includes the bag. I read somewhere that the easy fill bags last up to a year and since my low vaping amounts I havent bothered to clean it yet. Ive owned it for 2 months already.

Never had issues, but last night I was vaping at my usual 7.5 temp and found the vapor hasher than usual, the back of my mouth and throat became really dry immedeatly and became uncomfortable. I dont know if its similar as the sitiation @Tommy mentions.

I might just hook it up to a bubbler next time, but did not want to add this, because I already liked the ease of using the volcano, in and out. If anyone has any suggestions I would gladly appreciate it.

I would think it's just the pad, don't bother with it.

As long as there is enough herb covering the screen in the chamber you're good.

When I was using my DIGIT as a daily driver (10+ a day), I would maybe clean and make a new bag once a month and never had a uncomfortable taste.

Hope that help man.

How would you hook up a Volcano to a Bubbler? I'd like to give it a try.

Hi Chezgreenteam

At home, if hash (inside cotton) is vaporized every days with Volcano, it is time to clean instruments (french press, mouth piece, valve) and change balloon when they are too much sticky, ie near each month.

If herbs are vaporized every days, it is time to clean when too many herb dust/reclaim are on french press, inside mouth piece or bag; with herbs it is time to clean a little bit more often, around each 3 weeks.

Sometime I can feel vapor is harsher than usual; it generally comes from thick vapor (because of warm temperature) or from "old" (more than ~6 mn) vapor which sometime irritate throat ;)

The easier and most common way is to hook up a full balloon to a bubbler.

I didnt explain myself right, though thats what I meant. Though I have seen youtube videos of people connecting a gong and whip straight to the valve of the volcano, but it looks like too much work. Even after everything is connected youd have to wait for the vapor production and in between pulls have to manually turn on and shut off the air from the unit, then wait for vapor production all over again.

Yes, it was the first time that Ive ever gotten an extreme dry throat that not even water could quench, its been 3 days and I still feel alittle of it. Not that my issue is bigger than anyone elses, but I thought it was weird that I only vape about once a week one time a day and this was happening and I would like to avoid this bad effect at all costs in my next vaping sessions and rule out that its not anything from the outside contaminating the vapor.

Thanks fornthe suggestions everyone.

I havent tried the balloon to the bubbler. I would think its fairly easy, no need for any special adapter or gong, just put the mouthpiece of the balloon on the opening of the bubbler where the gong usually goes, press down on the mouth piece to release the vapor and pull from the bubbler. Then lift the balloon off to clear it.Correct me if Im wrong

Perfect!
The Solid Valve's metal part fits snugly against the 14mm female glass and is pushed in to allow drawing cloud through the bubbler.

The outside of the Solid Valve fits over my 14mm the RooЯ mini-bubbler and keeps the connection fairly stable.

The outside of the Solid Valve may not fit over 14mm GonGs female joints from other manufacturers ... ymmv.

@Chezgreendream have you meet again dry throat issue ?

Thanks for asking. I vaped once more after the incident, but I put the balloon on top of the bubbler. It more bearable than when I tried it straight from the balloon, for some reason it still felt alittle harsh but I was dissapointed because the buzz was toned down alot it wasnt the same. A little harsh is not bad, when I used to hit it dry sometimes it was a little harsh, but no big deal, but the time that it was really unvomfortable, it was like damn, what happened?

Im kinda against the wall of trying it dry again. It was very uncomfortable, as I felt it difficult to swallow. Im thinking that maybe the vapor was too hot. The roof of my mouth is still a bit sore, but Im not sure what happened.

Ive owned the volcano for 2 months and am used to vaping at 7.5 on the dial. I havent changed any variables. Still the same strain, same dial and same place. Im thinking that maybe I should have let the vapor in the balloon cool down a bit before hitting it. Frankly, Ive always just taken the balloon right off the volcano and hit it right after. Does anyone give the vapor in the balloon any chance to cool down?

Ive changed the bag, also started not using the liquid pad, but I have yet still to clean the volcano instruments, I havent had time, but will do once I get the chance.

right now, Im just using my pen vape cartridges, which are alot easier on the throat. At this point, Im not sure if I will go back to the volcano. Using water just makes the experience dull and I dont know if I can hit it again dry because I dont want the same thing to happen. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.

I think I will try again tonight dry, start at 6 and then bump it up to 6.5. I only need two bags. Will report back as to my findings.

I do not suggest to wait before inhaling vapor, it may become more coughing ;)

As you say you may try to change vaporization temperature.

When using herbs with Volcano, beginning at 5.5 on the dial may give good result without dry throat issue. Beginning at 4.5 on the dial can give good taste result but with less thick vapor.

When using hash, beginning at 6.5 on the dial give good result too. Lower temperature may give better taste result too.

Hope you can enjoy Volcano vaporizer.....

The volcano can be extremely harsh and dry if you turn the heat up to high with to much herb in the chamber. I'd say back it down some and try again.

Well last night I hit it dry, I started at 6 and ended at 7........ 6 wasnt bad, but at 7, I strated getting dry mouth.

At first I wasnt sure if the volcano was taking in contaminated air, if the vapor was too hot or if there was indeed something wrong with my unit. Though I only use enough herb to cover the screen, 7.5 was never an issue for me. No harshness or dry mouth until the other day. Some possibilities could have been that I did have the volcano next to a window that was opened and its getting pretty cold where I am at. So I was watching the unit switch back and forth from the the proper temp to warming up. It could have sent out extra heat, due to it trying to get the proper temp. Also, I am used to taking two bags one after the other, my sessions are fairly quick, since I want to stay as low key as I can in the house. I think that might have contributed to it.

Last night, I used lower temps and had water by my side.....though, I was just confused because it never happened to me before and a bit scared that I might be doing more harm than good to myself. It sucks, because I thought I found the sweetspot of 7.5 and though yesterday I used lower temps, my buzz last night wasnt quite as awesome as it was when it was at 7.5. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Im starting to think that my weed might have mold in it. I have noticed a few times the abv from the filling chamber smells funnier than usual. Ive bought an ounce about 6 months ago and have them in different mason jars. Its been great, up to this point. At 7.5 and even at 7 I have been getting this funny taste in the bag. There are no visible signs of mold though.

What piece is missing from my volcano?? The chamber won't stay on the base. I have to hold it there the whole time it fills up. Bought used in this condition, otherwise works great.

Hi pppfreddy

It does not seem something is missing from your Volcano, mine looks same.

Sometime instability comes from balloon... Have you try to stretch balloon before install it on chamber, in order that it can hold by itself when fixed on chamber ? Or have you try to make smaller balloon ?

Can't see anything wrong there.

The solid valve is notoriously unsteady.

Is the o ring in place underneath the solid valve.

If I remember correctly there should be one there to make an air tight seal and help the solid valve stay put. It doesn't hold it in place like the easy valve does.

i don't know if the problem is the balloon. It won't stay on at all. Maybe though? I'll happily test out that theory in about a couple of hours......

This is the underside of the solid valve.

Yeah, looks like an O ring is missing there, it should look like this:

I was able to get a pack of replacement O rings relatively cheap, unfortunately I can't recall the source :(

Almost there...
Decided to fire up the "Cano tonight!
0,1g load with the oil pad and temp at 6.5.
One nice bag that was super tasty!
Another one at 7 and the last one at 8 had me coughing a bit.

Tried a whole bag at 8 and that was crazy! Milky white bag and the taste was not too bad but not what it is at 6.5! But the effects are so much stronger!
Think these bags will have to go through my WT first!
