@VapCap Will a rainbow titanium piece on the woody still be available as an option? I really liked the rainbow one with the three ribs that you posted previously. I do love the plain silver version as well. Would be nice to get both at some point. Also, hoping you'll offer amboyna burl again as a wood...that one is beautiful as well.

Maybe I'm pushing it, but could we see a pic of the blackwood with a rainbow titanium piece?

@VapCap, @Ed's TnT I really like the look of that blackwood vapcap but I'm wondering if a slightly roundish "mouthpiece" (like ed usually has on his stems) wouldn't be nicer on the lips and help adapting it to a watertool, most likely it's something you guys must have considered but I was wondering what's your take on this.

I have a feeling that the piece of blackwood in the picture is unfinished rustic version....every other picture of a woody vapcap that vapcap has posted was more finished and rounded out at the mouthpiece.

The only photos posted so far haven't shown much detail of the mouthpiece- the most informative view so far is a side profile shot provided by @King_Bob. I took the full size image and cropped out the part below. The wall thickness is visible at the carb hole, and it appears that the wall of the wood tube is too thin to have any meaningful taper. That's not to say it couldn't happen. There are new condenser tubes in the works and the Ti tips keep progressing, so I'm sure it's possible that other details might change before production.

@bounce5 I'm also hoping Amboyna and rainbow Ti will be available- that would be a heady vape!

I literally gasped it looks amazing
Greetings everyone!

Here is a picture of the Blackwood TiWoody as requested.

And another.

I am experimenting with a non-glass condenser tube for these too. I think the first generation condensers will be stainless steel. Total weight for these units with the condensers is a whopping 8 grams.

Please share your thoughts!

Cheers!

Does anyone know why the mouthpiece in the production version is different from the one in this picture? I like the one in the picture much better!

FgqGPE8.jpg

This is an earlier version I developed before the versions I put on the campaign. The mouthpiece in this picture is integrated into the body of the glass. I made this style early on by deforming the glass and then applying a rubber tube over the glass. This is more difficult to fabricate and does not allow the condenser tube to be integrated. But if anyone likes this look better and wants the old style, just let me know and I can accommodate.

Hi George,

Thanks for the quick reply! I was wondering how this mouthpiece was so flush to the glass... Knowing that it's part of the glass answers that! I was thinking that it was a separate silicone/rubber piece that attached over a skinnier part of the glass at the end. I'm sure a mouthpiece like that would cost more, but it would look nicer.

I also like the wood bodies you're working on now. Any hints as to what the mouthpiece will look like on those? It would be really nice if they were also made of stainless or titanium and flowed flush from the wood like the condenser end does. Just some thoughts...

Not sure if it had been asked before but what kind of plastic do you use for the mouthpiece (new style)? What are it's thermal characteristics?

@VaporSipper

You had the right idea initially- the flush mouthpiece you asked about is a plastic piece fitted over the narrowed end of the glass tube. George said he moved away from that design because it didn't allow room for the condenser, and narrowing the end of the glass tube was a difficult process.

The condenser is different than the mouthpiece, it's a tube that fits inside the main body tube of the Vapcap and improves vapor density and cooling. I don't remember who, but someone said their Vapcap worked without the condenser, just not as well.

The wood models will have a condenser, but so far none of the prototypes have had or needed a separate mouthpiece. When I'm using a vaporizer with a small (inside the lips) mouthpiece, I prefer it be made of wood rather than metal or glass. I use a Vapman and e-cigs daily, and have found wood to be the most pleasant between the lips. Metal and glass are cold and hard- not a great feeling on the lips, and worse on the teeth.

@King_Bob How is your woody looking after using it for almost 2 months? I understand the cap takes on a darker funky color after a while. Would be nice to see a pic, or better yet a video of it in use :brow:. How is it in use with the dugout?

Sorry for not posting any updates. A few weeks ago I dropped my woody from about 3 feet. I opened it up and to my amazement the glass condenser was not damaged. So stupidly I decided to try dropping it again to see if it really was drop proof. It wasn't the second time. I was waiting for George to have some spare glass condensers for sale so I could start using it again. I really did enjoy using it.

I'm happy that George will be going with stainless steel condensers instead of glass for the woody. That will make this vape even more amazing.

I have pre-ordered 4 woodies, and its good to know that George is taking the time to fine tune and make improvements before he send them out. Still I can't wait !

Did you use it with the dugout? What did you think of combination with Woody Vapcap and dugout? Did the color of the cap change significantly?

That's too bad about the glass condenser breaking. I hope the stainless steel ones work as well. Wow four more pre-orders! I guess you really did like the Woody Vapcap then...

I prefer loading the VapCap with my fingers. The combination of the Woody and the dugout is very classy. I love the look of the dugout, and the Woody fits in perfectly. There is discoloration on the cap however I find it looks better that way as it blends in with the color of the wood.

Well if you are up to it, would love to see a picture to see how the discoloration blends with the wood. I'm wondering if the way it discolors will blend/look better with the amboyna burl or the blackwood, or if it makes no difference. Sorry to keep bothering you King_Bob, but you are the only guy with a woody vapcap in the wild.

By the looks of them in the pictures, they did look quite fragile. Have you opted for using the vape without the tube or did you just stopped using it? I remember after @King_Bob tried it once, he said it worked without the tube, just not as well.
I haven't tried without the condenser... mostly I just want the wooden VapCap

I've tried it without the condenser. The vapor production is not affected, but the hits seem much harsher to me. I think the condenser plays a role in smoothing out the hit. It certainly collects resin pretty rapidly, so that's a clue for me.:sherlock:

I think the tube works like the middle section of the vapman in a way. It adds fresh air and turbulence in the vapor stream and cools it down significantly before reaching the mouth. I think it is essential for dry vaping! :sherlock:
