Hmmmm. Now to me there seems to be alot of science involved in the screen gauge choice. First you have the basic air flow restriction to work out, should be easy enough to figure out.

But then you may have to consider heat soak. The difference in gauge will hold different heat.

I think there is more than meets the eye. But what do I know. I'm just theorising.

Nope, you're right... all factors contribute! When I was having the screens for the kits manufactured, I went through different meshes and basket dimensions until I found the combination that had the most even extraction.

(Modnote: Sorry for back to back, but different topic completely.)

All, I need input on new whip tubing.

What is preferred?
* Whip inside the wand, as is used in current DDave wands?
* Whip tubing over the outside of the wand? (like in @Nugg pics?)

That way I can determine which size of thicker walled tubing to restock with.

Thanks for the input!

What tube are you using. I didn't get on with the ddave tube so I use a smaller internal diameter and thicker side wall. I get my tube from vapefiend.com.

Where can you get those reinforcement collars at? That's a sweet idea

I cut an inch off the spare whip so it's exactly the same diameter/thickness silicon tube - lubricate the whip you want to reinforce with some soap solution then fold/collapse/squash one end the whip tip lengthwise and poke it through the 1" piece (reinforcing collar). Once it's through, push the collar about an extra inch along allowing the main tube will unfold and their combined strength will stop most kinking. Rinse well and enjoy...

DDave,
I'm happy with the current tube you're using because reinforcing collars are all I need to ensure it doesn't kink when I'm using it and
I don't mind using it over the 14mm (and inside the 18mm) wand - it's airtight both ways as long as enough tubing is in contact with the wand glass.
The silicone tube you supplied is much better for me than the icky stock plastic for sure.
Of course, it's easy for me because I'm healthy but it could be hard for medicinal users with impaired muscle strength or with movement disorders - but I can't think of any simple solution for both wands to make it easier to swap the whip...

I'm cool with the current size whip you provide @DDave. If you wanted to go thicker I would make sure the outside diameter doesn't change so those who insert it in to the 18mm can still do so. It might make it a bit harder for those of us who stretch over the 18mm but we might just have to join the rest of the flock and insert it ;)

Finally decided my wand was dirty enough to remove the hemp fiber filter and re vape it.

Not the tastiest experience but it sure does kick your ass :D

I prefer the smaller diameter tube because of the draw restriction it brings. Not just because it doesn't kink. That's just a bonus. Quality of draw was the main factor.

@fubar, I can do it lube free. Just roll it and force it in. (Innuendo)

@Nugg, that's fucking filthy. Dirty boy.
I just couldn't let it get that mucky. I like the hemp filter idea though. Do most people use one?

Edit:- and where in the UK can you buy hemp fibre. Fuck all available here.

@kellya86 One mans filth is another mans gold lol. I'm happy to let all the goodness build up to a point where it can be harvested. It's like being rewarded for being lazy :D

The hemp fiber I'm using was given to me by @Alan when I got my HIs. It's good stuff.

This time round in my 18mm wand I'm trying cotton. I have a feeling it will get dirtier quicker. And no, I didn't clean it before the new filter lol.

Fold it in half ish and yam it in. The 14 adapter as harder because you can't go through and back. But it's still pretty simple, I'm sure you probably done it already.

I received my kit yesterday! Thank you ddave!

Now I have to figure out the best way to place the screens in the bowls, any tips?
Thanks for letting me know the kit arrived safely!

To elaborate a bit on advice from @kellya86 , shape the screen into a taco she'll with a round bend. Insert one of the ends into an 18mm adapter end and slowly push towards center ring. As the edge gets just above the center ring, from the other end, guide it back towards the center ring while continuing to push the trailing end of the screen into the adapter. It is tight, but once in stays put...even during cleaning.

In the 14mm adapter, I use a chop stick in place of a finger to do the guiding.

Much better said.

I bet ddave is a ninja at putting them screens in.

On a slightly different note, how is everyone cleaning their kit. I use iso 99, but they seem to be looking mucky after clean now. Do you use a toothbrush to give it a scrub? Iv only ever just used iso, so maybe this is why they don't look so new anymore.

I know you may have said previously that you don't trust baggies, but I soak in 99% ISO overnight in a ziplock baggie, then shake like crazy in the morning when I wake up. After I'm done shaking, I go get the adapter in the baggie and shake it too! I've rarely had to fleck out a crumb after doing this, but if I do, I use a wooden toothpick. Handy & disposable...

(Sorry, I had to go there.... it's been one of them days....)

Naw, I was just hungry at the time I read your post and was dreaming of these...

yes it worked! but the screens in 3 of the adapters look bent in the middle...
The screens do take a shape similar to a contact lens, but not such a deep 'bowl' shape. That was to keep them in place.

When you say bent, you mean the bend when making the taco shell shape remained once inserted?

If so, you should be able to work it out with somethin like a chop stick or a pencil. Start at the ledge that holds the screen and press opposing to the angle of the bend.

Its more like that its still visible where the tacobent was before: it isnt fully bend, but more like a visible little dent in the middle of the screen.

I tested the kit a couple of times now, and the vapour is very nice, very thick cloudz: and a lot better than with the stock cyclone bowls!

Thank you my man for this excellent modkit for my eq!

That doesn't sound as bad as I was thinking. I thought a crease that may make ISO Soak/Cleaning a bit tougher. When I have a mis-shapen screen, I work that concave shape back and forth carefully, so as not to push the screen out of the adapter, and after a time am able to straighten out the most stubborn wrinkles... (am OCD on occasion... ) ;)

@Treeburner

Thanks for letting me know of the kit's safe arrival! I don't want to jinx it, but USPS has been awesome!

Looking forward to your feedback!

(Don't forget to dial down the temps a bit at first, if you're a high temp vaper! Just to avoid risk of combustion...)

Enjoy!
