Damn you, Ratchett!

I just received an order I placed with you last week...now... you are going to have to put me down for one of those beautiful Leather GrassHopper cases you are close to finalizing...thanks a lot!!:rofl:

@Ratchett if you leave an opening at the bottom part of the GH sleeve, it'd be possible to put the silicone mouthpiece on the GH while inserted in the case and that'd save a pocket for something else than the mouthpiece which would end up squashed in it.

Evening all!

I wanted to share with you a special project I've been working on. It's not quite finished but I could really use some feedback.

Ever since seeing the Grasshopper Vape, I KNEW I wanted to own a sexy leather case to hold the vape + essential accessories. After looking around, I couldn't quite find a Pen case to fit my needs (natch). So I managed to find a local leathermaker who is able to handcraft these leather cases for me using real American (Amish) leather! This guy is old school, but his quality is top notch, I was REALLY impressed with his leatherwork so much, I've decided to start stocking these cases on my store.

Here's a prototype of the case:

There's one slot for the vape, and three slots for batteries (or a special tube for herbs, which will be included free with each case), plus 1 large slot for oversized tubes (although I might split that pocket and make them two equal sized slots), and one mini slot between the two batteries to hold a poker tool for breaking up the ABV (which may be necessary for emptying the hopper depending on your herb)

We're tweaking some of the fittings (1/8th inch adjustments here and there, and swapping the larger pocket from the top to the bottom and swapping the pockets on top/bottom. But this is close to the finished product.

This guy does everything by hand, so changing designs takes a long time, I'm trying to finalize this before I order my first batch.

Also what are your thoughts on color? I know black is a popular color, but how does brown look on the inside or should I get Black on Black? I can order several different color configurations if you want (including orange and purple if you want some crazy colors!).

Yes Please!

I like it. I'd get one. My first reaction was where does the charging cable go...but looks like this case is more designed to swap batteries on the go. As a travel case I think I'd still try to cram the charging cable in somehow.

Really like the brown inside.

Love the leather case. I haven't read through the whole thread, so maybe this has been suggested, but have you thought about using magnets (instead of poppers or a tie)?
That's a good idea, I'll have to see if he has any magnets to play with

Ya know, I thought about that too. But indeed with 3 batteries and a doob tube of herb, I don't think you'll need the charging cable for a whole day/two of heavy use.

My goal with this case is to keep it small. Small enough to close up and put in your pocket. Sadly it's a bit too bulky to comfortably fit in my pocket with a wallet or smartphone, but it does fit! And with winter coming up, it'll fit nicely into the inside pocket of my jacket.

With all this great input and ideas for this pouch I think it deserves the title FC Pouch.

I am on the @VegNVape vegan waiting list but what I would love to use this for is my vapman carrying pouch. I usually always have the egg, chico jyar and classic jyar along with the lighter in a medium sized ryot zipper bag. This is quite bulky and would have much better aesthetics as a cool old school pouch.

Thanks for all the awesome work @Ratchett!! As well as getting that pay pal situation resolved which I'm sure was a headache to say the least. Its always a pleasure to see what innovative inventions you will come out with next.

@Ratchett, regarding design thoughts can I add that I think adding space for the charging cable would make this too bulky. Like you, I'd prefer something with a slim, low profile. That's why I think the prototype you pictured looks great.

Can I suggest a separate small case just for the charger (and anything else one might need for the gh but not want or need to carry in your design)? It could just be a small rectangle with a fold over flap and snap (or magnet).

I agree.

What are everyone's thoughts on making a bigger 2-pen case with space for a cable charger?

Hoping my case of Doob-Tubes arrives this weekend so I can test the fit of them in the battery slots and finalize this case so I can order my first batch.

Based ont he feedback here and in PM's, it sounds like a majority of people really dig the Black/Brown combination (my favorite as well). So I'll probably make half of my initial order that color configuration.

For other colors combinations such as Black/Red, Black/Black, and Gray/Orange - PLEASE send me a PM with your email address and what color you want. I'll add your name to a list and will send you an email when they are available.

I'm also very excited to announce a new raw material and a new product on my store this weekend, stay tuned for big news! :ninja:

Regarding a bigger 2-pen case, that doesn't suit my needs but others may want it.

Regarding the doob tube, I hope it fits and is basically the same diameter as the battery. If not, can I suggest that the design be modified to hold one battery and one doob tube rather than 2 batteries?

If you liked my idea about a separate small case for the charging cable, that could be modified to hold extra batteries (and maybe an external charger?).

Yeah that's a great idea Ratch, one smaller case just like you originally posted, then a second option that can fit two Hoppers and has a snapping pouch on the outside for the charger (or wherever it would fit best), just the usb cord though, I don't think room for ac adapter is necessary at all personally, they're everywhere already...

So it will be able to hold 3 extra batteries regardless? Plus a doob tube? So like 4 battery slots really if the doob tube can fit in the same size? Then that extra pocket can hold the session extender, or a tool, or another wider container (perfect for avb, since doobtube is good to load Hopper).

I definitely like the sound of grey and orange but I think I'd need to see the shades before deciding if I want that or just the black/brown (or maybe I'd want another color, hard to say without seeing swatches). If its not too bulky the two-hopper one could be good for me since I'll have an ss and a Ti, but a single pen case could also be good... May need both!

Well there are 3 slots for batteries, plus the battery in the vaporizer. So my thought is you have two slots for the batteries, and one slot for the Doob Tube. That'd mean you could carry 3 batteries + Doob tube + wider slot for whatever else you want.

The poking tool can be stored in a tiny slot between the two batteries.

Once I have the doob tubes and the finished case, I'll get a "fully loaded" picture for the store listings.

I'll start thinking about the larger version of the case, but this guy works SLOW when making new designs, so I'm going to finalize this one first before moving on to the next case design

Oh I was confused, though that tool pouch in between the two batteries was a third battery slot (seems like the same size... Could it be?) and then the doobtube slot is up top next to the wider pouch.

Good thinking with the case, we know the single version will sell well on its own! If I end up buying the double later I can give the single to my brother with for the Hopper I ordered him.

So any chance of color swatches? Im thinking definitely pencil me in for something regardless. You never cease to impress my man!

An outside pocket wouldn't add much bulk at all, especially if it's not being used to optionally store the cable. It's just the thickness of a single piece of leather. And then you don't need a "separate small case" :)

Happy weekend! I'm back again with some very exciting news.

Back about 32 months ago, a friend with a woodworking shop had a difficult problem he needed solved with my 3D printing - he had built a homemade "down-draft table", and had a special 60 year old spark-less vacuum he needed connected to a standard 4" exhaust tube. Problem was the vacuum manufacturer no longer existed and there was no accessories to connect the vacuum to ANYTHING (just a raw metal port with notches to latch into accessories).

At the time I used my work's 3D printer and managed to print a custom adapter using a flexible plastic material (Thermoplastic Elastomer) - the same stuff found in some cellphone cases. Long story short, the material was a PITA to work with, but the first full print was a perfect fit. The adapter was installed and has been in use ever since with no issues or signs of wear.

Recently, I have been thinking about using that material for vaporizer accessories. Last year I began work on a battery sleeve. design However I encountered countless issues attempting to print with this material reliably on my 3D printers!

For the last 4 months I have spent many hours each week attempting every possible tweak to my printer's settings to print this material as I had previously. It's taken two 3D printers, several different print-head configurations, hundreds of failed prints, and two different brands of raw material to finally find the right settings to print flawlessly every time. That breakthrough happened a few weeks ago, and I've been tweaking my 3D models ever since.

Now at long last, I'm please to finally introduce my flexible Battery Sleeves! The first of many products I'll be making with this new material.

Currently I have two battery sizes in two different configurations:

SONG question. Mine works great with my Haze 3 and the orbiter. What else can it work with? The hole is too small for most of the other stems I have like the air and solo. I don't use the lily much but I think it would work with that as well.
